Chapter Thirty-Four
Alexander’s POV:
Ken has been buzzing my phone for some time now. But I am in a meeting with my father and his board of directors.
It was kind of annoying because he kept calling me nonstop.
“I am in a meeting. Don’t you get it?” I yelled at him as soon as I got hold of my phone.
“You should have just texted, dumbo,” I told him.
“Sorry boss,” Ken apologized.
“I sent the lady some money and she released some photos,” he told me.
“She had the exact photos of Fiona and Thomas,” he added.
“Thomas is still unconscious,” he said again.
“So, what am I supposed to do with this information?” I asked him, irritated already.
“Uh, to let you know that we have hope,” Ken told me.
“Can you just hear yourself?” I asked him, disgusted.
“I thought you were going to tell me stuff I would be happy to hear about but look,” I told him.
“But look, make sure you get me Fiona and her brother. Otherwise, you would regret the day you met me,” I told him.
“I am sorry, boss,” he said.
“Be sorry for yourself,” I said angrily, and I hung up the phone.
Fiona’s POV:
Jessica was ready to leave the house already.
“Fiona, it is tomorrow,” Jessica announced.
“Aww, finally,” I told her, faking happiness.
“It is at Hilltop Avenue by 9 pm,” Jessica announced.
“Hilltop Avenue?” I asked her.
“You know that we are new around here. I do not know anything or anywhere around here,” I complained to her.
“Okay,” she said smiling.
“I would help you out. Can I pick you up tomorrow before 9 pm?” Jessica asked me.
“Let us say by 8 o’clock or 8:30 pm,” Jessica suggested to me.
“8:30 pm would be fine,” I told her.
“Fine, see you tomorrow,” Jessica said as I bade her farewell.
Mother asked me about the date with the girls and how far I had prepared.
“Not much,” I told her.
“I just got my dress though,” I replied to her.
“Great, and your safety?” she asked me.
“That is not a problem besides I have a Taser in my bag already,” I answered my mother.
“Do not forget to pay attention to everything you see and hear there,” Mother advised me.
“Sure, mom,” I answered her.
“Lest I forget, do you have any information about the area? I mean, how safe is the place?” Mother asked me.
“No, mother. You know that I know nowhere around here,” I reminded her.
“I would search for it on my phone,” I told her as I grabbed my phone.
“It shows me here that it is in the middle of nowhere. It feels like it is by the outskirts of the town,” I told her perplexed.
“And the city itself,” I complained.
“You see why you would need to be extra careful?” Mother asked me.
“Sure, mother,” I said to her.
“I will take care of myself, mother. There is no need to bother about me,” I assured her.
Jessica arrived the next day and we headed for the date. The journey became long and scary as we moved.
“Are we not there yet?” I kept on asking her at intervals.
“I will be there very soon,” she kept on telling me.
I was not too scared because I had armed myself very well and my self-defense skills were still intact, so I care less.
We finally got to the place, and everything seemed to be out of place. The whole restaurant looked like an abandoned project.
“You have nothing to be scared of,” Jessica told me.
“I am here for you,” Jessica said as she noticed my mood.
“Okay,” I answered.
We got into the restaurant to meet the ladies, but everything seemed awkward about them.
“Hi,” I greeted them when I got in and they all replied to me.
After some time, three ladies out of the group of five ladies, excused themselves to speak with Jessica.
“I am going to see what they have to say,” I told myself silently.
“I am going to use the bathroom,” I told them, excusing myself.
“Hey, when are they coming so we get the hell out of here?” I heard one of them ask Jessica.
“Who are they talking about?” I wondered as I stood there.
“He would be here soon with the money, and we would be all out of here in a bit,” Jessica explained to them.
“I hope so because I have a lot to do with my time,” the other woman said.
“Hey!” Jessica yelled.
“You got to chill. At least, this is not the first time I am working with you on this,” Jessica told her.
“Yes. And the last time, you snitched on me, you snitched on all of us,” the woman retorted.
“Calm down,” she told me.
“He is here. I’m going to talk to him,” Jessica told them.
At this point, I knew that it was highly likely for them to be referring to me, so I had to change my plans too.
I brought out my bag and changed my outfit. I made sure I took extra clothes for safety purposes.
I changed into a pair of black trousers and a black hoodie.
I sneaked out of the restroom and stood behind them, that they could not even notice.
“Who could be there?” I asked myself as a black car pulled up and Jessica went to talk to the person.
“Where is she?” the person asked her.
Immediately, Jessica pointed towards the restroom, and I finally knew that they were talking about me.
She signaled the other ladies, and they went straight to the restroom but acted confused and disappointed when they could not find me.
They went into the restaurant to check if I was there, but they still did not find me.
“You all need to find her,” Jessica screamed aloud as she was told of the development.
“Only when we see her that we would be able to get our full money, else we would be in trouble,” Jessica told them.
They searched and searched to move avail.
“Yo! Man!” Jessica told the man.
“I think she escaped, she is not here again,” she announced.
“Do you think I am joking here?” The man said as he pulled out a gun and Jessica tried to pacify him.
