Chapter Twenty-Four
Fiona’s POV:
“What is that?” Veronica asked me.
“I do not know, Mom.” I answered her.
“Let me go and see for myself.” Veronica said as she sneaked into the balcony to peep.
“Oh!” Veronica said as she held her chest in relief.
“A car just bumped into the tree across the street.” Veronica explained.
“Oh, what a relief.” I told her.
“Now let us get back to work!” Veronica told me.
“I just received a text that we need to be at the hospital, immediately.” I told Veronica.
“Thomas will be discharged soon!” I announced it to her.
“That is good news, then.” Veronica told me.
“Run along, child while I continue with the work here.” Veronica said as she bade me goodbye.
“You can sign here.” The doctor told me as I arrived at his office.
“Today, the nurse in charge noticed your brother moving his fingers,” the doctor said.
“Okay.” I wondered what he meant by that.
“It means he will get better sooner than we thought.” The doctor explained to me.
“Good gracious!” I exclaimed.
“Thank you, doctor. Thank you so much for all you have done.” I told the doctor.
“I think he is ready to go now.” The doctor told me as I left the office.
“It feels so good to have you around here again.” I said as I wheeled Thomas into the house.
“Look who is here, Mom!” I said smiling to Veronica.
“Oh, he looks so peaceful.” She commented.
“Get him in quickly. We need to be out of here in a jiffy.” Veronica told me.
“Sure, mother.” I said as I tried to put Thomas stuff together.
“Uncle Victor’s POV:
“I would be doing something about Fiona today.” I told Alexander as we set out for work.
“What is it, Dad? I think you should just let her go.” Alexander told me.
“Besides she seems to have won. She has her father’s company now.” Alexander told me.
“Why do you talk like a weakling, Alexander?” I asked him, irritated.
“But that is the point, Dad.. we lose.” He retorted.
“I did not lose. Watch me bring her ego down.” I said in anger.
“What are you planning to do, father?” Alexander asked me.
“Watch me do this.” I told him.
“I need to see your boss in my office, now!” I said over the phone as I dropped the phone.
“I am going to teach you a big lesson, Fiona.” I said as I hit my fist hard on the table.
“Sir, he is here.” My secretary announced.
“Let him in.” I told the secretary.
“Good day, boss.” The Hitman greeted.
“I have a job for you but not the usual one. Do you know this person?” I asked him as I showed him a photo.
“Fiona Lawson.” He said.
“Exactly! You remember well.” I told him.
“I need you to go to her father’s company and set everything there on fire.” I ordered the Hitman.
“Then go to the city’s hospital. When you get there, I will let you know what you are supposed to do.” I told him.
“Yes boss.” He replied and he left.
I got to the house earlier than usual waiting for feedback from the Hitman, when my phone rang.
“Boss, mission accomplished.” He told me over the phone.
“Now, go to the hospital.” I told him.
“Already on my way, boss.” He replied to me.
“Make sure when you get there, you get me Fiona and make sure her family is taken out of that hospital with no treatment.” I told him.
“Yes boss.” He answered as I hung up.
“Dad, have you seen this?” Alexander called my attention to the television.
“What is that. I am busy here.” I replied uninterested.
“I think you need to see this.” He said.
“It has to do with the Lawson’s.” He told me and I immediately had interest.
“Their property got destroyed by fire today. I wondered what the cause of the fire outbreak was.” Alexander told me.
“Good job.” I said as I turned to the TV.
“What!” I exclaimed in panic and surprise.
“This girl is smarter than I thought. I underestimated her.” I told myself.
“She played us right before our eyes.” Alexander told me.
“She sold off her father’s company which means the Hitman set someone else’s property ablaze.” I said to myself silently.
“What is it Dad?” Alexander asked as he saw how restless I was and I had a phone call.
“What is it?” I asked the Hitman, agitated.
“Thomas Lawson has been discharged from this hospital. He was discharged earlier today.” The Hitman announced.
“Are you kidding me?” I asked him in disbelief.
“No, sir. That is the exact information I got from the hospital.” He replied.
“They must think I am a fool but I will definitely deal with them.” I said in anger.
“Now, you listen to me. Go to Lawson’s residence and bring me anybody you see there, dead or alive.” I told him in anger.
“That is a done deal boss.” He told me as I hung up.
“Argh that little girl thinks she is smart but I will show her who is smarter.” I told myself in anger.
“Dad, are you sure that you are okay?” Alexander asked me as he noticed me fidgeting.
“Yes.” I answered and I got out of his sight.
“How did you Fiona transfer ownership of the company without my knowledge?” I asked one of the board of directors over the phone.
“We were all shocked, coupled with the letters she handed over to us.” He explained.
“I will make sure I bring her to her knees.” I told him over the phone.
“I hope you do because that girl is way smarter.” He said.
“She cannot outsmart me because I did exactly that to her father.” I assured him over the phone.
“I hope so.” He said as we ended the conversation.
“Sir.. everything did not go as planned.” The Hitman said as he called me again.
“What is it again? Did I not give you enough money for the job?” I asked him.
“I hope you did not get involved with the cops again.” I told him.
“No, sir. The whole residence is empty. It looked like they moved.” He told me.
“What!” I said holding my chest as I felt a sharp pain.
