A SECOND SHOT
Maria doesn’t look like she had anything in mind against Reid. In fact, she seems to be having fun with the guys.
He had never seen this side of her, where she’s laughing hysterically with the controller in her hand, playing the Play station like a pro.
Reid sat separately from them, staring consciously at Maria who was oblivious of his gaze. He analysed her whole, the way her breast looked firm and round in what she was wearing. The way her smile revealed her teeth, giving her face a beautiful definition as it brightened it up. He analysed her like he was in an anatomy class. He strolled his eyes all over her like a pervert and the way her waist accentuates more on her hips as she’s sitting. The way she slowly munch on the pie, holding the controller with one hand. The way she laughed at Tristan jokes, throwing her head backward in the process. Typically, he stared at the way she was having a good time and now was regretting that he ever thought of doing her bad.
He stared at her for a while before she suddenly turned to face him, causing him to blink and smile awkwardly.
“Can you get us an orange juice?” she asked with a bright smile still lingering at the corner of her mouth.
“Yeah, sure,” he answered nervously. He was never the type to be nervous but she had almost caught him gawking at her which was an embarrassing thing for his kind of personality.
She turned back to the screen and Reid stood to get her the drink from the fridge in the kitchen.
He served the drink in four glass cups and was about to take it all when Des entered with a subtle smile on his face. Reid settle the tray back on the counter since he knew the meaning behind the smile. He had some things to say to him.
“She’s beautiful. I mean Maria,” Des started, resting his butt against the counter and Reid did the same opposite him.
“Yeah, right? She looks too beautiful and innocent for whatever stunt you guys want me to play on her,”
“Have you seen her? Of course, you have but have you like seen the plain her? ‘Cause I have,”
“You saw the plain her just today?”
“I have that talent to see through people,”
“I didn’t know you do,” Reid replied curtly.
“Have you seen her body. She looks beautiful and that’s why she should be yours either way,”
“By either way, you mean…?”
“Yeah! That’s exactly what I mean,”
“I must be honest with you. I was rejected!”
Des looked bewildered as well as stifling his laughter.
“What, man? You were rejected? Reid Martakis?”
“I wouldn’t want you blowing the whistle but yeah, I was. You have no idea how devastated I was,”
“Really. I don’t have even wanna have an idea. Still, you have to push through. She could be dying to be yours now,”
Des instill some bits of hope in him. He looked at him as though he could see the reassurance with his bare eyes. Des knew his friend. He knew he needed to be pushed in a situation like this. He had never seen Reid more defensive and at the same time powerless, he was always at the top of his game, but right now, he could see him deteriorating slowly. Not in a bad way but not also in a good way either.
“So, does that nullify the bet?”
“Eventhough it doesn’t solely depend on me to decide, I still wouldn’t say this nullifies it. This is the reason you should go on with the bet more!”
Reid was going to say something to what Des had said when Maria called him.
“I’m choking right here, Reid,”
“Just a second. I’m coming,”
Reid shot Des a second glance before they both walked out of the kitchen.
They spent the rest of the day, just like it started. Maria appreciated the fact that she had a good laugh with his friends and somehow, it got her closer with Reid in a way so subtle for them to notice.
Maria was still steadfast in her decision not to fall in love. Her trauma was still very much deep inside her which makes her hates every guts of the word but then, she felt that, her decision should not serve as a clog for having a nice time. Now, the time is fast spent and they were ready to leave.
“Bye, Mary,” Tristan waved her and she laughed hysterically. It had been a long time since she had a good laugh and now, she was enjoying every bit of her moment.
“You mean, the mother of our savior?” Maria replied in between her long laughter.
“Our savior? I’m sorry but i’m an atheist. I don’t believe I was saved by anyone,” Damien answered, taking it a bit too seriously which hardened the aura among them.
Des chipped in, clearing his throat which relentlessly eased the awkward tension.
“It’s Maria, Tristan. Not Mary!” Des corrected before they all drove off.
Maria stood and waited till their car was out of sight while Reid stood beside her with his hands inside his pocket, staring her and engrossed in her beauty as she smiled.
She turned to walk back inside and then, she looked up at him but he hurriedly looked away.
“Let’s go in,” she said to him and he nodded.
He walked behind her, watching her steps as she took it with caution. He was more mesmerized by the way she swung her hands beside her in a stylish was. He couldn’t get enough of her view.
He walked swiftly to catch up to her when he impulsively brought his right hand out of his pocket and held her hand.
She flinched a bit and soon composed herself as she looked down and their hand and up at him. He made a little prayer in his heart, hoping that she doesn’t let go and so to speak, his prayer was answered.
They walked into the elevator together and the silence between them seems to be consuming their whole as no one was willing to break the chain of stillness between them.
The elevator door chimed opened and with their hands still locked up together, they walked out and soon, she slowly released her hand from his which in a way broke his heart.
She walked towards her door without a word to him and Reid on the other hand never left the spot he was standing. He stared at her retreating back which soon turned back.
“I believe you. I believe you weren’t doing anything with the lady,” she said to him and gradually, a smile crept up his face. If he could get a hug from her right now, he would have appreciated it more but instead, she walked inside briskly without any more word from her.
“That’s enough. That’s enough for me,” he screamed out so she could here him and Maria who was resting on her door, smiled broadly before walking to her bathroom for a long shower. It was a long ass day.
She pulled the jumpsuit she was wearing down her body, stepping out of it.
She shivered lightly when the cold water sprawled down her body. She dug her nails in her hair, giving it a gently scrub before massaging her body with her favourite shower gel. She took her time in the shower before stepping out and without changing into any wears, she walked to the kitchen to make dinner.
She made pasta with chicken which brought back another memory of the time she spent with Kyros. She hated that everything reminded her of him. Even meals were not on her side and now, she lost appetite at the sight of meals she had made herself.
She pushed the meal aside and later dumped it in the sink. She gulped down a bottle of water before walking to her room. She changed into her usual night dress and settled on the bed.
She felt a bit more lonely and wished she had someone she could effortlessly sink into their embrace. She wished she had someone by her side tonight.
She pulled her pillow closer to her chest and that subtle touch of the pillow on her breast made her horny.
She let out a loud sigh as she was never the type who had ever settled for self gratification but each night, it got harder for her. She is a virgin and she planned to remain such till further notice.
In a reflex action, she moved her right hand slowly to her nipple with her eyes tightly shut. She moved her index finger in a circular motion on her nipple which caused a soft moan to escape her lips. She took her second hand to rub on her continuously when suddenly, her phone rang, bringing her out of her abyss.
She flickered her eyes open, withdrawing her hand from her breast to retrieve her phone. She gasped when she saw the name of the caller written body on the screen.
Kyros.
