Aubree spent the rest of the summer developing her hobbies. By the time she got her acceptance letter from A University, it was almost time for school to start.
During the summer, Riley asked her out several times, but Sidney turned him down for her. With school starting soon, Aubree didn’t feel right turning him down again.
“Uncle Sidney, just let me go out for once. Please!” Aubree was like a wombat, clinging to Sidney’s body. The most she did every day for the past two months was to lie on top of him and not get off.
Aubree looked at Sidney with bewilderment. She didn’t know why his workload had been particularly low for the past two months. It was as if he was at home every day for nothing but keeping her company. But that was good. She couldn’t wait to be with him all the time.
Sidney turned the magazine in his hand over a page and said indifferently, “No.”
“Why? … I’m only going out for a little while. Just a little while …” Aubree held out her finger. She narrowed her eyes and measured it.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
Aubree didn’t think she’d ever heard the Hudson family’s doorbell ring in her lifetime. The Hudson family was so big and remote that no one would come by unless they were looking for Sidney specifically.
Curious, she got up from the sofa and walked over.
The light in Aubree’s eyes faded to a blur the moment the door was opened. The person in front of her was dressed in an expensive dress and carried a limited edition global bag in her hand.
Although these were not expensive things for Aubree, she had them herself. But the woman in front of her always brought her a sense of oppression.
Kaitlyn raised her chin and didn’t even open her eyes to look at her. She pushed the suitcase straight into her hands and walked in.
Aubree stood frozen in place. She looked at the suitcase in her hand and was stunned for a long moment.
“Surprise–!”
“Why are you here?” Sidney’s delicate brow furrowed slightly. He didn’t look at Kaitlyn’s face first, but at Aubree, who had her back to him in the foyer so he couldn’t see her expression.
“What, you don’t want me to come?” Kaitlyn walked over to the couch, moving casually as if this was her house. Then she sat down directly beside Sidney without saying a word.
“I’m so tired.” She looked around and finally fixed her eyes on Aubree, “Aubree, can you get me a glass of water?”
Aubree pushed the suitcase in and placed it to the side in the entrance hall. Then she walked over to the kitchen and poured her a glass of water.
She didn’t hand her the glass of water directly to her but placed it on the table. Aubree didn’t want to have any contact with her.
Kaitlyn gave her a quiet look. She had just picked up the glass and put it down before it reached her mouth. Then she said with a smile, “Aubree, can you get me another cup of hot water? It is bad for a woman to drink cold water and she will not be able to conceive.”
Aubree stood by and held back. She knew that this woman was Sidney’s girlfriend, but she just didn’t like her.
Kaitlyn put her arm around Sidney as she spoke, with a loving smile on her face, “Sidney, don’t you think so?”
Sidney didn’t look up for a second but concentrated on flipping through the magazine until Kaitlyn gave him a gentle shake.
“I don’t know.” With three simple words, he made it clear that the matter was none of his business.
Kaitlyn was a little upset. Whatever attitude or reaction he had when they were alone didn’t matter, but now that Aubree was around, she had to make Sidney act like he loved her.
“We haven’t seen each other for two months. Do you miss me?” Kaitlyn wrapped her arms around Sidney’s neck. Just five centimeters away they were about to kiss.
