Aubree was visibly moved after hearing what Sidney said, “Didn’t you promise to go to her place the day after tomorrow?”
“Since when?”
“You didn’t?” The scene of what happened just now replayed in Aubree’s mind, it seemed like Sidney never promised Kaitlyn anything.
Sidney nodded and said, “Yeah.”
“But why do you want to fly back in such a rush? Is there an emergency?” The original plan was to stay here for two more days before they head back. Sidney didn’t promise his girlfriend anything, but he still wanted to go back so soon. Something smelled suspicious.
Sidney was taken aback, he never thought that Aubree would think of it like that.
“Maybe.” He wanted to laugh and he felt helpless at the same time. He wanted to go back immediately so that Aubree wouldn’t be unhappy here.
Aubree nodded as if she understood, “I couldn’t sleep well on the plane, I will rest a little longer.”
“Though Uncle Sidney, I’m feeling a bit cold, this big mansion feels cold and creepy,” said Aubree as she shivered.
Sidney remembered that the first thing she said after she woke up was that she was feeling cold, he quickly covered her up with a blanket.
“Uncle Sidney, I’m still cold,” said Aubree as she stared at Sidney looking wronged. She was all covered up and only her head could be seen, she was pouting and looked unhappy.
“How can I make you feel better?” Sidney’s pent up emotions were stirred up.
“What do you think?” She blinked her eyes and smiled maliciously, “You hug me to sleep!”
Sidney was stunned, he laughed, and his cold expression got softer. He looked more human and had more emotions.
He didn’t go under the blanket and hugged Aubree from the outside. He was afraid of losing his common sense if she acted all flighty with him under the blanket.
Sidney hated losing control of himself.
Soon, they fell asleep and only woke up when someone knocked at the door by dinner time.
Sidney brought Aubree who was still half-asleep to the dining room. Everyone else was already there.
“Sidney, we are all waiting for you. Were you so immerse in being fast asleep in the beautiful lady’s arm and didn’t want to get out of bed?” a person sneered at Sidney and everyone else in the room started laughing.
Sidney didn’t react. They were laughing at him, but he was indifferent.
But Aubree heard what they said and could tell that they didn’t mean good. She was already feeling afraid in the beginning and now she was even shyer. She lowered her head and didn’t dare to look at anyone.
“Don’t blame Sidney, who can stand not being immersed in such a beauty?
“True, like Josiah…” Josiah slammed the table before the other person could finish his sentence, he looked furious.
“Enough, today is your uncle’s wedding day. Stop making a fool out of yourself in front of everyone, be more respectful!” said Josiah’s father sternly. The conversation suddenly took a turn and involved his son. He felt embarrassed that everyone was going to talk about his son!
Sidney didn’t care, he concentrated on cutting the steak and gave some to Aubree.
“Uncle Sidney, are they your relatives? They don’t seem nice,” asked Aubree softly while whispering in Sidney’s ear when the others were absorbed in their conversation.
“It’s just a beneficial relationship, we’re not really relatives,” answered Sidney coldly and indifferently.
“Look carefully, everyone here is wearing a different mask.:
Aubree didn’t understand what he said and put a small piece of steak into her mouth. She looked around carefully and quietly eavesdropped on their conversation.
“Hey Sidney, have this girl meet Kaitlyn yet?” said Regan Hudson all of a sudden, throwing the bomb right at them.
Everyone in the room was part of the Hudson family and hence they knew about Kaitlyn.
“Yes.” Sidney put down his wine glass and looked at Regan.
“Kaitlyn must throw a tantrum.”
“Regan, don’t be so judgy,” answered Sidney mockingly as he maintained his cool self.
The older people in the room couldn’t stand it anymore, they were older and more conservative. But even so, they heard what Regan said and thought he was being too shallow.
Regan had to shut up. He thought it was finally his chance to embarrass Sidney, but instead, he embarrassed himself.
