Chapter 38 Feeling Threatened

Book:This Is What You Came For Published:2024-5-28

Kaitlyn didn’t thought that the other girl was threatening at first, but she knew that she was wrong when she saw Sidney’s reaction.
“Sidney, you have to answer me honestly. What do you think of her?” asked Kaitlyn questioningly. She jumped straight to the point like she always did, she came from a rich family and wasn’t afraid of asking questions she wanted answers to. She had to ask Sidney and find out about it, even more so because it was something concerning Sidney.
Sidney was already annoyed and he was about to turn around and leave. But he couldn’t, cause he still needed Marsh family’s help and support.
“She calls me Uncle Sidney and that’s how I think of her as well.”
Kaitlyn wasn’t letting this slide, this nonsensical answer wasn’t the answer she was looking for.
“Alright, the wedding ceremony is over now. You guys should head back.” Sidney had a softer expression on his face now, he didn’t want to wake up Aubree.
“I’ll look for you again tomorrow.” Kaitlyn stared at him for the longest time. She was only about to leave unwillingly after Sidney finally answered her while looking her straight into the eyes.
Sidney leaned on the wall and was feeling slightly frustrated, he answered plainly, “I’m not free tomorrow.”
“The day after tomorrow then.”
“I’m flying back on the day after tomorrow.”
Kaitlyn started to panic, she yanked Sidney’s hand and asked, “Why are you going back so soon? Why won’t you spend more time with me here? It has been so many years, my parents don’t even remember your face anymore!”
“I don’t care what’s your plan. You are to come with me to my place the day after tomorrow,” said Kaitlyn flightily, there was an expectant look in her eyes.
Just when Sidney was going to answer her, someone opened the door behind him. He turned around and saw Aubree with a sleepy face.
“Uncle Sidney…I’m cold…” Aubree rubbed her eyes. She was wakened up by the cold and she realized that Sidney wasn’t next to her. She heard sounds coming from the door and saw Sidney the moment she opened the door.
But it wasn’t only Sidney, there was also another lady standing by the door.
She quickly hid behind Sidney upon seeing the stranger, she asked in a soft voice, “Uncle Sidney, who’s that?”
Kaitlyn got mad when she saw Aubree holding onto Sidney’s arm. There should be a prudent reserve between man and woman, Aubree was turning 18 and she should know some shame.
“I’m Sidney’s girlfriend, Kaitlyn. Has he never mentioned anything about me?” Kaitlyn quickly put her foot down as she stared at Aubree.
Aubree was taken aback. Girlfriend? She had never heard of it before.
She raised her head and looked at Kaitlyn. She can feel that a hostile and threatening look was in Kaitlyn’s eyes.
“I’m leaving, remember to come to my home the day after tomorrow.” Kaitlyn didn’t bother to look at Aubree anymore. She took a deep breath and was about to leave. But before that, she smiled mischievously and inched closer to Sidney, and pecked him on the cheek.
Aubree looked down immediately and didn’t dare to stare.
She only stopped tensing up after Kaitlyn left. She went back into the room without saying anything.
Sidney quickly went after her as he knew that Aubree wasn’t happy about it. He sat next to her and quietly stared at her.
“Is she really your girlfriend?” Aubree mustered the courage to finally ask the question. Her chest felt heavy and she moved slightly to the side, intending to sit further away from Sidney.
“Since…since when did you have a girlfriend?”
Sidney snickered, “Why are you unhappy?”
Aubree clenched her fist, her face flushed when she heard the question. She didn’t really know why she was unhappy.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” She was getting angry, he was the one hiding things from her and yet he wasn’t taking the situation seriously.
“You don’t like her?” Sidney was always cold to everyone but Aubree.
How could Aubree tell him that she disliked Kaitlyn? That was his girlfriend and he promised to go to her place the day after tomorrow…
But Aubree didn’t want to lie, she just didn’t answer and looked away.
Sidney knew the answer just looking at her reaction.
“We’ll fly back after dinner tonight.”
