“Don’t wear this type of pyjamas again next time,” said Sidney demandingly.
Aubree lowered her head and looked at her pyjamas. What was wrong with it? She wore them fairly often, why couldn’t she wear it again?
But she didn’t dare to say anything and just nodded her head obediently, cause Sidney looked cold and sullen.
“I’ll listen to whatever you say, Uncle Sidney.” Aubree blinked her doll-like eyes repeatedly. She didn’t know that what she was doing was turning Sidney on.
Stupid Aubree, stop seducing me!
Sidney turned around and cleared his throat, “Alright, let’s go eat.”
Aubree finally broke into a smile, she knew that he had a soft spot towards her if she acted all cutesy and flighty.
“Carry me!” Aubree opened her arms and was starting to act cutesy again. She wanted Sidney to carry her downstairs.
“You have legs.” Sidney didn’t even turn his head and went downstairs.
Aubree pursed her lips and thought to herself, “Fine, I’ll walk on my own!”
Her legs were almost fully recovered, she walked swiftly down the stairs and sat down at the dining table.
“Miss Aubree, the peach gum dessert is ready. Would you like to have a bowl?” Everly didn’t know what happened upstairs, she was concentrating at making Aubree the dessert she asked for.
“Peach gum?” Aubree forgot about her lie, but she remembered it again quickly.
“Yeah, give me more longan pulp.” She secretly glanced at Sidney and only felt at ease seeing that he didn’t react.
“Huh, you mean peach gum?” Everly looked at Aubree all confused.
Aubree couldn’t say anything back. She felt awkward, her lie was exposed…
She carefully glanced at Sidney and noticed that Sidney was already staring right into her soul.
Aubree tried to brush it off, “Yeah, my memories getting bad recently…”
“Everly care about you a lot. Don’t do that again next time.” Sidney lightly nudged her nose as he said that. He was scolding her, but his eyes were filled with love.
Aubree quickly nodded her head. Of course, she knew that Everly cared for her a lot, otherwise she wouldn’t fall for her lies so easily…
“Pack your stuff tonight, we’re going to England tomorrow.”
“Uncle Sidney, I graduated, and I don’t want to wear the clothes that I wear to school anymore. Can we go buy new clothes?” said Aubree as she was eating the bowl of peach gum dessert that Everly made for her.
Sidney nodded, “Sure.”
Aubree didn’t go shopping very often. The majority of the large shopping centres in the city were owned by Sidney and he would usually clear them out for Aubree to shop in. But she never liked it, cause even the salespeople got ushered out. It didn’t really feel like a real shopping experience.
“Uncle Sidney, can you not clear out the shopping centre this time?” asked Aubree carefully. She knew that Sidney never showed his face in public and could guess the answer to the question already. But there was no harm trying.
Sidney put down his chopsticks.
“Why, you don’t like it like that?”
Aubree nodded her head slowly, and then she nodded it repeatedly. She felt like there was a chance.
“Sure.”
It was just a single word, but it put Aubree in ecstasy. She didn’t even eat much of the dinner and was impatiently waiting for Sidney to bring her out.
They went to the shopping centre after dinner.
Aubree was holding Sidney’s arm. She felt uncomfortable as the people around them were staring at them.
“Uncle Sidney, why do they keep looking at us…” Aubree didn’t like it.
“This is why I always want to clear out the shopping centre.” Sidney hated being stared at like that.
Aubree couldn’t stand it anymore. She pulled Sidney and walked into one of the shops. She wanted to hide away for a while.
Who would’ve thought that she met someone she knew the moment she walked into the shop.
They met eyes and Aubree tightened her grip on Sidney’s arm. She remembered what happened two years ago, she felt like it was a bit hard to breathe and felt constrained.
She stared at Hendrix’s leg, it seemed like it completely healed now.
Hendrix stared at the necklace that Aubree was wearing. He then looked at Aubree’s arm interlocking with Sidney’s. He had an enigmatic look in his eyes.
“Hendrix, does this look good on me?” It was Pippa’s voice.
