Steward said, “We really appreciate your help! We will handle it by ourselves.” Then he bowed and followed Sidney to get into the car.
Sidney put Aubree on the seat in the car. With the towel from Everly, Sidney wrapped Aubree to make her unable to move more.
He was so worried to ask her, “Are you ok?”
Aubree felt some of dizzy together with great tummy ache; there might be some problem about her stomach that pushed her to curl up.
Sidney touched her forehead and found she had a fever now.
He ordered the driver, “Go to see the doctor!”
Now Sidney freaked the driver out. The driver understood Aubree played such a critical role in Sidney’s life that she could even control his happiness or unhappiness. Now Aubree was sick; if Sidney was totally unhappy with this, everyone around him would be too fearful.
The driver could not be more nervous on the way to the hospital.
Aubree had slept for a while with shivering. After a few checks in the hospital, she lay on a bed in a VIP room and got injected with intravenous drips.
Sidney looked at her by the bed, thinking what he had done was correct or not.
“Uncle Sidney…” Aubree slept well, but moved suddenly as well as frowned with probably having a frightening dream.
She tried to grab his hand to realize he was still with her, then she got relieved.
A few seconds later, she felt too terrible to sleep more.
Aubree was not well yet; she saw Sidney asked her with great worry, “Aubree, are you feeling well?” Before she usually felt much better as soon as seeing Sidney, but now she changed a lot for what happened hours ago.
She turned over to refuse to talk; all the tears fell down on her pillow.
Sidney kept asking, “You are not happy with me?”
Aubree said quietly, “Uncle Sidney has a girlfriend. I am not the only one with you.” She almost cried out, “You will leave me alone, as my parents did the same thing to me. You will…” while digging his face deep in the curve of the pillow.
In all her life, she was afraid of being left alone. However, now she doubted Sidney would do it.
Sidney did not expect her to talk about it in such a certain way. So, it was someone telling her?
He could not give her an answer at once; it led Aubree to be more anxious. She hoped Sidney could say something to please her, after all, he kept silence.
Aubree turned over to look at him. He was heartbroken for her suffering.
She asked him with sobbing, “Uncle Sidney, will you leave me?” She wished Sidney would definitely say to her “No, forever”.
To her disappointment, he watched Aubree without any reply to her.
In Aubree’s eyes, Sidney had not been disturbed by anything right now. Only Sidney understood how struggling he was in his mind, but he would not like anyone else to see it.
Aubree was more disappointed at his reaction. She would lose her belief to Sidney and even started to feel desperate. She was scared now.
Sidney was extremely worried about her as she was like now. As Jacob said, even he was sure to let her go someday in the future. But he could not hurt her right now.
After thinking carefully, he started to talk with Aubree, “Don’t be silly, Aubree. I will not leave you alone.”
These words made Aubree feel happier. Yet she looked up at Sidney’s charming eyes, trying to find something about his telling a lie.
A moment later, she was pleased, but carefully asking again, “Are you sure?”
Sidney smiled and petted her head, “Sure.”
Unluckily, he knew for himself this was a lie.
