Chapter 17 Acting

Book:This Is What You Came For Published:2024-5-28

In Hudson mansion.
The show without any emotions had ended.
Halle put on her clothes. Sidney didn’t actually do anything with her.
“Master Sidney, you will hurt her feelings this way.” Halle knew it from the beginning, she had experience with this sort of stuff. Sidney called her over and left a gap in the door on purpose. He told her to start moaning the moment he heard footsteps. It was obvious that he was putting up an act for Aubree and wanted Aubree to see it.
Sidney didn’t say anything back. He glanced at Halle coldly and it shut her up.
“Master Sidney, Aubree ran out crying just now. She didn’t bring an umbrella with her and was out for a while now. She hated rainy days the most, why did she go outside and where could she be?” Everly rushed up the stairs but didn’t dare to go near to Sidney’s room. She was yelling from the stairs.
Sidney’s heart throbbed. Shit! He started to look worried and wasn’t able to hide his emotions. Halle saw everything.
“Master Sidney, should we go out and look for her together?”
“There is no need for you to come with, I will get someone to bring you home.” Sidney put on his clothes and walked out of his room. His instinct told him that Aubree was in danger.
Everybody in the house knew that Aubree ran outside. Everyone started to panic because Sidney always acted out of normal behaviour when it was about Aubree. He would get angry more easily and would take out his anger on them.
“Prepare the car!” Sidney took his coat from Everly. He suddenly remembered that Aubree was wearing her pyjamas. It was so raining so heavily outside, she had to be freezing!
Sidney regretted his action. He planned the whole thing out meticulously, but he forgot to take Aubree’s personality into account!
Aubree was walking on the streets and her abdomen hurt because of her period. She was also in the rain for a while now and her face was pale and lifeless.
Her white pyjamas got dirty, she was cold and felt terrible.
Suddenly, a black dog jumped out of the bushes on the side and leapt right into Aubree’s leg! It gave her a mini heart-attack. She covered her mouth, and her eyes were now wide opened. Fear started to creep into her body.
The black dog looked vicious and it was gnarring with its teeth out. It barked loudly at Aubree.
Tears started to flow from Aubree’s eyes. She didn’t dare to move, she was afraid that the dog would rush towards her and bite her the moment it sensed any movement.
“Aubree?” Suddenly, she heard someone called out her name. A car parked at the opposite of the road and its backseat window was rolled down. It was Riley.
Riley quickly got out of the car when he saw Aubree looking at him pleading for help. He threw a stone at the dog and it ran away.
“It’s gone now, don’t be afraid.” Riley was in a rush and he forgot to get an umbrella. He took off his shirt and put it on Aubree’s shoulder, seeing that she was completely drenched.
“What happened? Are you okay? Let’s get on the car first, it’s raining hard.”
Aubree shook her head and said weakly, “Thank you, I’m fine. You can go now.”
“Riley, why aren’t you getting on the car?” A woman’s voice could be heard from inside of the car. It was Riley’s mother.
Riley’s mother opened up an umbrella as she got off the car. Her maternal instinct started to kick in when she saw Aubree, she asked worriedly, “Why are you so wet? Get on the car now, I’ll get you a change of clothes.”
Aubree didn’t know how to say no, she got on the car awkwardly.
“Child, are you Riley’s classmate?” Riley’s mother switched to the passenger seat as Aubree was sitting in the backseat. She peeked at Aubree with the rear-view mirror and noticed that the girl was gorgeous, she could probably easily tug heartstrings.
“Mom, stop asking so many ques…” The car stopped abruptly before Riley could finish his sentence.
“Madam, I think the car stopped in front of us all of a sudden on purpose.” The driver was startled, it was his first time seeing a car stopping in front of another so flagrantly. The car that caused the stall stopped horizontally in front of theirs.
Aubree looked over and she felt numb. It was a car that she was familiar with, it was Hudson’s family car.
Sidney didn’t show his face and Steward got off the car instead. He walked up to the car and knocked on the car window where Aubree was closest to.
Everyone in the car turned their head towards Aubree. She bit her lips and was flustered, so flustered that she started crying. Even so, she wasn’t willing to roll down the car window.
“Aubree, who is he?” asked Riley.
“I don’t know him.” Aubree was determined that she wouldn’t get off the car. She wouldn’t return to the Hudson Mansion no matter what.
The driver could tell from the car that the people in that car were probably powerful and influential. He thought that they probably shouldn’t offend them and hence he secretly unlock the car door. Steward heard the car door being unlocked and quickly tried to open the door, but Aubree pulled the door from inside and wouldn’t let him open it.
“Miss Aubree, let’s go home!” Steward was obviously stronger than Aubree, but he didn’t dare to use more force because he didn’t want to accidentally hurt her.
“No, I’m not going back!”
Sidney was getting more and more frustrated in the car, seeing that Steward was failing at his mission. He looked utterly annoyed.
In the end, he got off the car. The powerful aura surrounding him startled Aubree and his face was cold and expressionless as usual. Without any hesitation, he opened the car door, bent down slightly and princess carried Aubree out of the car. He put Aubree into his car without saying anything.
“Aubree!” Riley wanted to run up to Aubree but got halted by Steward.
