Sidney frowned, there was a hint of anger in his deep and magnetic voice as he said, “Are you done yapping?”
“It’s for your sake and her sake. Don’t give her false hope.”
Jacob hit the nail on the head. Lookers-on usually saw most of the game and he was reminding Sidney stuff that he couldn’t see himself.
Sidney’s eyes were now as cold as ice, the air around him was frightening. Even Jacob would get a bit scared when Sidney got mad.
Time passed by slowly, but Aubree and Halle weren’t back yet.
“Go check if something happened,” said Jacob. Though Aubree got back the moment the waitress was about to go check-up on them.
She was holding her stomach and was looking pale. Her forehead was also covered with sweat. Sidney frowned even harder seeing her like that.
“Uncle Sidney, I…” Aubree was embarrassed to explain herself. She couldn’t say it outright in front of them that she got her period.
“Halle went to get some stuff for me, but she was gone for an unusually long time. It suddenly started to rain, and I’m worried about her…” Aubree found out that she got her period when they went to the toilet, but she didn’t have any pads with her. Halle volunteered to go get some sanitary products for her, but she had not got back yet.
“Buy what?” Jacob didn’t get the message.
“It’s none of your business,” said Sidney coldly.
“I’m back, Aubree. Come quick.” Halle suddenly appeared. She was drenched and the corner of her black skirt got a bit muddy. Though she didn’t seem to care about it.
Aubree couldn’t believe that Halle got herself so drenched and muddy because of her. She thought of how she treated Halle when they first met just now and felt like she had an egg on her face.
Halle was covered with rainwater from head to toes. She started to shiver as the air conditioning was blowing on her the moment she got in the room.
Sidney took off his coat and put it on Halle without hesitant. Halle instantly felt the warmth from his jacket, it was like getting a ray of sun in an icehouse, one couldn’t take their eyes off the ray of light nor want to move away from it.
“Let’s take a raincheck for this meal. I’ll bring Halle home so that she doesn’t catch a cold.” Jacob got his prioritization right, there was no need to rush concerning the other issue.
“Halle should come to our place instead. It’s closer.” Aubree mustered up her courage to say this.
Halle told her just now in the bathroom that Uncle Sidney was a man. It was normal to have needs and he would need a woman for it. It didn’t have anything to do about love or being in a relationship.
Aubree thought about what Halle said for a long time and finally understood what she meant. Uncle Sidney was a man, and he needed a woman that wasn’t her, to give him something that she couldn’t give.
Aubree went to take a shower the moment she got home. She was running around all day and needed a shower.
She suddenly remembered that Halle’s dress was all wet, she probably didn’t have any clothes to change into after she showered. Aubree opened her cupboard, took out a slightly loose shirt and was prepared to bring it to Halle.
“Halle?” Aubree walked towards the guest room. The door was open, but there was nobody in there when she walked in.
That was weird, where could she be?
She checked the other rooms in the house while holding the clothes, but Halle was nowhere to be found.
Suddenly, a weird panting noise could be heard on and off. Aubree held the clothes in her hand tightly and she stood still where she was.
A woman was moaning softly, and she sounded like she was ecstatic.
Aubree clenched her fist tightly as she walked along the corridor and turned left. The sound was coming from Sidney’s room.
“Ahh…”
Aubree felt like her heart was being stabbed by a sharp knife every time Halle moaned. The pain worsened with every step she took.
She walked up to the door and realized that the door wasn’t completely shut, there was a tiny gap. Aubree felt like she was suffocating. She took a deep breath and approached the door slowly, she then peeked into the small gap.
She couldn’t see very clearly, but she could see Halle riding Sidney and was bouncing up and down. Her face immediately burned up and the clothes on her hand fell onto the ground. She was so flustered that she stood still where she was. She saw something that she shouldn’t see.
She pursed her lips as she felt a tingle in her nose. She didn’t know why she felt like crying.
Suddenly, Aubree met Halle’s eyes. She was frightened and tried to turn around to leave. But she tripped and fell right onto the unclosed door!
It was as if Sidney had expected that this would happen. Halle felt a bit awkward and she tried to cover herself up with the bedsheet, but Sidney pulled it away relentlessly.
“Continue.” His tone of voice was so commanding that Halle couldn’t do anything but continue moving.
Aubree was laying on the ground and the pain in her heart intensifies. Every cell in her body was throbbing. She lowered her head and gritted her teeth, she then mustered all her strength and forced herself to stand up.
She stood up, turned around and left the room.
She always thought that Uncle Sidney belonged to her. But she now realized that she was being naïve.
Would he abandon her if he got someone new?
Aubree ran out with tears on her face, she didn’t even bring an umbrella with her.
It was raining like cats and dogs, and she didn’t have anywhere to go. She thought that it was better for her to leave Sidney first before he would throw her away.
