But Sidney’s answer caused Aubree burst into tears. She said, “Anyway, you got a girlfriend, so, I cannot stay too close with you. I learnt it from the drama.” Aubree should understand the love between man and woman at an earlier age. Only because she had not encountered many troubles under the protection of Sidney, she just knew it for now.
Sidney got the image of the naive Aubree in sight, soon saying, “Ok, now you are the only one to me.” At the moment, he was not greedy to ask for more, only to please and love Aubree.
Aubree was still too shy to talk more. She covered her face with the blanket and peeped at Sidney, “But, you two have been…already…”
Sidney pulled down some of the blanket to uncover her lovely face. He said, “Girl, forget it. You should forget what happened today. Don’t make blind and disorderly conjectures.”
Although he tried to make her feel better with these words, Aubree could not help thinking about it. Whatever happened, she had received a perfect answer from Sidney who promised not to leave her alone; she was much happier.
Just now, Sidney’s assistant, Micah, knocked at the door and said, “Master Sidney, would you like to join an international video conference?” He dared not open the door, so he was waiting for his reply outside.
In fact, Sidney still had plenty of work to do for coming back in a rush for Aubree. He said to the door, “I will do it. Come in please.”
Micah came in. He laid the laptop on a table in living area and stood by; Sidney could join the meeting anytime.
Aubree knew Sidney had been exhausted these days to solve these problems. She was ashamed of herself to waste him much time and said, “Uncle Sidney, you have to work. I won’t disturb you any further. I will stay here quietly.”
Sidney said, “Have a nap? my girl.”
Aubree nodded with relief and closed her eyes.
As long as staying with Sidney, she was much peaceful within her heart. She would not fear anything even if there was great thunderstorm.
Finally, Aubree fell asleep with a dizziness.
Later, she heard someone might close the door. When she opened her eyes, she did not see Sidney here.
There was still heavy rain; she was frightened by it and went off the bed to look for Sidney.
It was too quiet on the corridor of the hospital on which only some nurses were on duty. Aubree went everywhere but failed to see Sidney.
Finally, he… still left her alone? He had already promised not to leave her just before she having a nap…
Aubree felt sad and almost cried out for his disappearance that even resulted in her strong heartbeat.
She was dizzy to walk around in the building without any destination. When she stopped thinking more, she found she was already in the area of VIP rooms for orthopedics.
She remembered the number of Hendrix’s room which was at the end of the corridor.
How about visiting him now?
Aubree herself was also in a gown of the hospital and hesitated to go ahead. One minute later, she was encouraged to walk on to Hendrix’s room.
The door was opened; she was there just holding her breathe and leaning on the wall. She listened to someone talking in the room, “Hendrix, we are well prepared for your transferring to a new school. After back home, you can have a gap year first and go to the new school for another year.”
Hendrix’s mother was talking. She continued to say with worry, “Aubree hurt you so badly. You are really innocent.” Aubree heard a topic making her feel greatly guilty.
Just now, Hendrix threw a bowl on the ground and said to her mother, “Stop! Please!” Aubree did not see how emotional Hendrix was now, but realized he hated her to such an extent; she could not be more depressed with this.
Aubree was so sorry about it to Hendrix. Hendrix seemed to avoid meeting her or even hearing her name, in that case, she would not like to bother him further.
Aubree stopped tears and went back to her own room. She saw Sidney was looking for her.
She ran to cuddle him to cry, “Uncle Sidney.”
She could not accept the fact that the first boy she adored now started to hate her. However, Aubree would not like to talk about this with Sidney.
Sidney raised her face and asked in anxiety, “What happened?”
She answered with crying, “I think you have gone.”
“No, I promised you not.”
Aubree did not cry any more. Yes, she knew he promised her. She should not worry more about it.
How time flied! As time passed, Aubree had concentrated on the academic improvement. Soon, the national entrance exam was just around the corner.
Today was Aubree’s eighteen years birthday.
