Chapter 76: Let Me Help You

Penelope widened her eyes. “What kind of voice? Is it the heartbeat of the child?”
The doctor was speechless and glanced at Penelope next to him. He said, “It is hitting the wall. Have you heard of a newborn with such a loud heartbeat?”
“Hitting the wall?” Penelope almost bit her tongue.
Sure enough, the nurses and doctors in the next room all stopped the woman. “What are you doing? The child will be out soon!”
It is just a fetal heart monitor, “If I were her husband, I would be sure to be nice to her for a lifetime…” She murmured.
“What’s wrong?” Warren touched her face and asked.
“She had a site observation. That is also a psychological preparation for her,” the doctor said as he recorded the data.
Penelope grabbed his hand and said, “You won’t be there for the delivery later. Have you heard?”
“Why?”
“It’s too fierce. It will wipe out all your fantasies about women,” Penelope said with anxiety.
They hadn’t officially had sex since they’d fallen in love, and if he saw everything now, could he possibly get turned on later?
He smiled and said, “Rest assured, I can stand it.”
“No matter if you can or not, I won’t allow it,” Penelope insisted.
At this time, of course, Warren didn’t go against her, so he nodded and promised.
Penelope sighed and said, “You will be thankful later, it’s for your own good…”
The doctor laughed on the side.
Penelope glared at him. “You wait.”
The doctor coughed a few times and said, “Let Mr. Duncan hold you while you walk around for a little. This way, he will be born faster.”
Penelope sneered, “Are you sure?”
“Doctor’s orders,” the doctor said seriously.
Knowing that he wasn’t so despicable, Penelope glanced at him and leaned on Warren’s body, and they walked around.
This is the obstetrics and gynecology department, the only place in the hospital that makes people happy. The arrival of a new life brings new hope to a family, and there is laughter in the corridor.
“What will be the child’s surname? Have you thought about it?” Penelope asked him while walking.
“Both are okay, as long as he is safe and healthy,” he said.
Penelope held his hand, ten fingers clasped. She smiled and said, “Name him after you, okay?”
“Do you hate your own surname so much?” He didn’t think she was being considerate, believing it was because this was his first child. She wanted him to have his surname.
Penelope said, “I hate it. I hate it very much.”
Because this is the name given to her by someone, she hated it all her life.
“I will be with you in the future. I will not make your life as difficult as before.” He reached out and lifted her hand up to his heart.
Penelope smiled and said, “I am used to it. It won’t be harder than before.”
He stopped and looked at her.
“What’s wrong?” Penelope looked up.
“You should believe me,” he said.
“I trust you. I believe that you can take care of me and our baby.” Penelope shook his hand and said smilingly, “I just don’t want to be lazy and unmotivated because of you. You wouldn’t like that, right?”
He bowed his head against her head and asked, “Who told you this?”
“Your eyes.” Penelope reached out to touch his cheek. She pointed to his eyes and said, “They have always told me that you like an independent and self-improving Penelope.”
“You’re so smart.” His laughter was low, and it had shocked her heart.
Penelope also laughed. Everything had lain in silence.
So did she. She had loved the excellent Warren, the brave Warren, the smart Warren, and… the handsome Warren.
It was normal for humans to yearn for good things.
“Ouch…” She screamed softly and frowned.
“You feel something?” He asked.
“This time, it seems to be true….” She gasped and said brokenly.
“Can you still walk?”
“Yes.” She gritted her teeth in order to spend less time on delivery.
When she arrived at the delivery room, the doctor had put on his gloves and a mask. He lifted his chin and said, “Climb into the bed.”
Penelope looked at the nearly one-meter-high bed in front of her and almost knelt down.
“Cheer up. The child is still waiting for you,” the doctor’s voice came out of the mask.
Penelope bit her lip. She walked close to the bed and struggled to climb up.
The potential of human beings is endless. Even if she was in extreme pain and her limbs were numb, she managed to climb up and lie down.
When the light was on, her eyelids were soaked in sweat, and she felt a little hot.
“Let’s start…” The doctor picked up the tool and gave her a look.
“Okay…”
When Asher arrived, Penelope had been in the delivery room for an hour. Warren stood alone in the hallway, and his figure was lonely.
“Uncle Warren!” Asher shouted.
Warren turned back and said, “You are here.”
“How is it going?”
“She has only been in there for an hour.”
“We may have to wait another hour,” he said.
Asher nodded, handed him a bottle of water, and said, “Don’t worry, sit down and drink.”
Warren took the water but didn’t open it.
“Let me help you.” Asher saw his lost look. He took the bottle of water back, unscrewed the cap, and returned it to him.
Warren looked at him. “How did you know her?”
Asher paused. He never expected him to ask this at this moment.
In the delivery room, Penelope was sweating and gasping.
“The next pain will be in a minute,” the doctor said.
A minute was too short, and it seemed to pass as quickly as a second for Penelope.
“Ouch!!!”
She sat up straight and paused in the air, then leaned back.
These sounds startled both Warren and Asher outside.
Warren threw the bottle of water, opened the door of the delivery room, and rushed straight in.
The nurse held the baby and blocked his footsteps. “Outsiders can’t come in,” she said while staring at the little one in her arms, his hands and feet soft.
