Early in the morning, Warren helped Penelope get into the car. He asked her, “I still have a morning meeting. I can’t go to the hospital until I finish it. Are you really okay to go alone?”
“Don’t worry. Mrs. Brown will stay with me,” Penelope smiled easily, like going for a spring outing rather than to deliver a baby.
He leaned forward and kissed her forehead. “Be strong today.”
“I am a female King Kong.” Penelope beat her chest and grinned.
Warren couldn’t help but laugh and helped her close the door.
At 9:00 am, Penelope arrived at the ward.
Mrs. Brown took the maternity package and helped her finish the formalities.
At half past nine, the doctor came to give her an injection. Penelope was in good condition, and the doctor teased her with a few words.
Penelope took a deep breath and felt the cold liquid slowly flowing into her body. She trembled a little, and the doctor looked up at her, “Does that hurt?”
“No, it’s a bit cold.”
The doctor said, “This medicine will not work soon. You should relax now and conserve your energy.”
“Okay.”
The purpose of the oxytocin was to speed up the contractions, but it did not alleviate the pain during childbirth.
Penelope was lying in bed and watching Mrs. Brown’s busy work. She said, “Please sit down and rest for a while.”
Mrs. Brown was an active person. She said, “Okay, I’ll go out to see what else I need to prepare.”
“Well, thank you.”
“Hey, you’re very welcome.” Mrs. Brown smiled and closed the door.

When Mrs. Brown came back, Penelope had already fallen asleep.
The oxytocin seemed to have no effect on her. She was covered with the quilt and slept soundly.
When Warren opened the door and walked in, Mrs. Brown whispered to him. “She probably didn’t sleep well last night. She is sleepy.”
Warren walked over and put her hands back under the quilt.
Mrs. Brown said, “Sir, now that you are here, I will go back and cook some soup for her.”
“Okay.”
Penelope did not sleep well. She could feel that someone was coming in and out, but she was too lazy to open her eyes. Until the first labor pain hit her, she sweated and opened her eyes.
“Mom…” She didn’t know why but called for her mother.
Warren heard her voice and turned to look at her. She had woken up and was holding her stomach. Warren quickly stepped forward, “Is it hurting?”
“Yes.” Penelope frowned, feeling that a force was pulling her down.
Warren held her shoulder and said, “If it hurts, say it.”
“I am a female King Kong. It is not a big deal.” Penelope recovered and straightened up against the bed.
“Do you want to drink water?” Warren was nervous. He saw that she was sweating a lot and couldn’t help but give her some water.
Penelope reached out to his arms and said, “It’s too uncomfortable to lie down. Please help me get up.”
“Are you sure?” Warren frowned.
“I feel powerless on the bed.” Penelope put on her shoes and got out of bed.
Warren held her waist and said seriously, “I know that you have always been able to bear the pain. But now is not a time to try to be brave, you must tell me if there is any reaction. Understand?”
“I want to pee.” She looked at him slyly.
There was no change in his face. He said, “I’ll help you go to the toilet.”
Fortunately, she was staying in a suite with a bathroom inside. She didn’t have to go outside.
When they arrived at the door, she reached out to block the door. She smiled and said, “You can wait here, and I can finish on my own.”
“Be careful.”
“Okay.”
When Warren turned around, he heard a scream from inside.
“What’s wrong?” He tried to open the door with his hand and found that she had locked it from the inside.
Penelope stared at the water under her feet, and her thighs were trembling. “Is this incontinence?”
“What the hell is going on? Tell me!” He was anxious outside.
Penelope swallowed and sobered up. Even if she were incontinent, she would not have so much urine. It did not fit the description…
“I think my water just broke…” She forced herself to calm down and opened the door.
When Warren walked in, he looked at the water on the ground and then looked at her red and white face. He immediately lifted her up and placed her on the outside bed.
“Do not move.” He reached out to press the bell on the bed and called the doctor.
The doctor arrived soon. He checked her and said that she had to do a fetal heart monitoring first.
Warren was ready to reach out to carry her down. The doctor stopped him and said, “At this time, it is beneficial to let her take a few more steps.”
Penelope was not a delicate person. She held onto the bed, step by step behind the doctor.
Warren ached for her, especially watching her bend over because of the pain, like a small shrimp moving forward, pitiful and lovely.
Today was probably a lucky day. There were many people delivering babies in the hospital. All the instruments were occupied. Only the fetal heart rate monitor in the delivery room was still available.
Only when she walked through the door did she heard a scream from inside.
Penelope paused. She couldn’t tell whether it was a childbirth or a murder.
“Come on.” The doctor waved at her.
Penelope climbed into the bed with heartrending screams.
“Ouch!” Another scream sounded, accompanied by a maternal cry, “I give up! I give up!”
The doctor looked at Penelope with a smile and said, “Please lie down.”
“Okay,” She shivered a little, her eyes fixed on the curtain in the middle. Her hands were clutching the sheets underneath, and her fingers kept tightening.
The fetal heart rate monitor alarmed and showed an abnormality.
“What is ringing?” She looked at the doctor nervously.
“You, relax.” The doctor persuaded her.
“I, I am relaxed.”
“If you are relaxed, why is it ringing?” The doctor glanced at her.
Penelope’s lips trembled. “Do you deliberately have me here just to get revenge?”
“Shut up, lie down.”
Penelope didn’t dare to provoke him. She lay down nervously.
Bang! Bang!
