” Beautiful!” That’s the word that played in Gabriel’s face upon setting his eyes on Sheila and before he knew it, he had said it out loud.
” Excuse me?” Sheila’s lips were pressed into a thin line as she regarded the man in front of her.
Looking at him, she could tell he was the guest David was expecting so despite her annoyance, she tried sounding as calm as possible.
Gabriel smiled apologetically. He could tell that his complement came out the wrong way.
” I’m sorry Miss, I didn’t mean to sound rude or anything. Honestly, I didn’t know when I blurted the word. It just escaped my mind and slipped through my mouth.” He tried explaining.
” By the way, I am Gabriel Fernandez and I am here to see the president.” He introduced himself.
Sheila could read the sincerity in his words so she decided to play cool. He didn’t mean anything with his complement, she believed.
” Sheila, Sheila Masons!” She said, taking Gabriel’s extended hand.
” Sheila, it’s a nice name. My girlfriend also has a best friend called Sheila.” Gabriel mumbled, making Sheila laugh.
He even has a girlfriend, so he definitely wasn’t trying to hit on me, she thought inwardly.
” Thankyou.” She smiled back.
“You have a beautiful smile just like you. Your boyfriend must be happy to have you.” Gabriel added.
He was never one to hold conversations with people but for some reason, he felt pulled towards the lady in front of him.
The pull wasn’t passionate, it was more like a sibling pull.
His sister Charlene would be her age anywhere she is.
” Mr Fernandez, did you schedule a meeting with my girlfriend or me?” David’s displeased voice sounded from the president’s door making both Sheila and Gabriel look at him.
The surprised look on Gabriel’s face upon hearing David’s words was soon replaced with a smile.
” Such a fine lady for a fine Man, I must comment, the young lady has a good taste in men.” Gabriel commented.
He meant it. Only someone outstanding as David could match the Young lady’s charm and charisma.
” Anyway, it was nice meeting you Sheila. Can I call you that when we see each other again? I have a feeling this won’t be our last meeting.” Gabriel grinned and Sheila nodded.
The two bid goodbye to each other before Gabriel followed David to his office.
David gestured for him to take a seat which he did.
David settled opposite Gabriel, his eyes narrowing at the man.
” What?” Feeling uncomfortable under his gaze, Gabriel asked, feigning innocence.
The two men were familiar with each other but not too familiar to be called friends.
They had met in different business meetings and parties.
” She is not up for grabbing!” David warned, a stern look on his face.
Although he knew Gabriel’s character as a one woman man, he could not help but feel possessive, especially after seeing the look on Gabriel’s face as the man looked at his little woman.
” Relax, I have a girlfriend and don’t have plans of replacing her and even if I were to replace her, not with another man’s woman.” Gabriel assured.
He liked Sheila but not sexually.
Besides, he was a man who respected and upheld brotherly code.
” She reminds me about someone special, we lost her.” Seeing Sheila, his mind flashed with the image of his two year old sister who went missing.
The longing look on Gabriel’s face dispelled any suspicions he had on the Man.
He could tell that whoever the other man was talking about must have been someone special to them.
Minutes Later, the two men were engrossed in business.
Gabriel was here to seek partnership with Brown Corp which would be beneficial for his company branching.
” I think I have convinced you enough to sign this deal with my company.” Gabriel finished.
He had presented his proposal to David, convincing him why he needed the Fernandez winery for his company.
The deal was lucrative and well presented but David was no fool to not realise there was something more than the deal.
” Tell me Mr Fernandez, what motive do you have? Offering 60% for my company seems too generous of you. I believe Mr Fernandez is a wise businessman.” David approached the subject straightforwardly.
Since the proposal was a business proposal, it was only normal to have a 50-50 profits share or 40-60 but here, he was being offered the 60% instead of 40%? He was not naive enough to translate that as an act of generosity.
Gabriel smiled faintly, Just as expected.
” You are right Mr Brown, I have a simple request to ask of you.” He said, a smile adjourning his lips.
” I’m listening,” David’s voice was plain and business-like. He kept his poise posture as he regarded the other man.
John who had been standing behind Gabriel quietly all this time produced a file and handed it to Jordan who passed it to David.
” My sister, Charlene Fernandez. She got lost eighteen years ago and after years of searching, I got a lead that points that she might be in this country. All the information needed is in that file. I hope Mr Brown can help me.” Gabriel explained Seriously.
David took a minute to flip through the file before putting it on the table.
” It’s been eighteen long years, do you think it’s possible to identify her?” David asked with a frown.
” Nothing is impossible as long as you put your heart and mind in it.” Gabriel replied.
” Okay, I will help you.” David replied.
He knew why the man chose him to help him look for his missing Sister.
This was country A and here, he held power like the president. If anybody could dig deeper without any obstacles, that would be him.
The two set a day to sign the contract before Gabriel bid David goodbye and left the company.
” Do you think the CEO will be able to find the young Miss?” John asked. To him, David seemed to take the matter lightly.
” Don’t worry, he’s the best person for that job. He values family the most and understands what it means to lose a family member.” Gabriel replied with a smile.
He had done his homework and according to the information he collected about the man, he was a family man.
” Now, it’s time to go and surprise my woman.” Gabriel said with a smile.
Just thinking about her sweet smile and those sparkling hazel eyes was enough to bring a smile to his face.
He had promised that he would come visit her and then they could take things to another level.
Now was the time.
Looking at his boss grin over nothing, John could only shake his head.
Ever since his boss met a girl at a hotel back in country B, he would catch him smiling occasionally.
He could tell that his boss was in love.
He was happy though, his boss had suffered in the past. It was about time he got his happy ending.
” John, did you buy the flowers and chocolates I asked you to?” Two minutes of the drive to Hawk entertainments, Gabriel asked.
After assuring his boss that he did as instructed, they rode in silence.
Looking via the rearview mirror, John saw his boss straighten non-existent creases on his suit.
” John, do you think I look good in this suit? Maybe I should buy another one and change.” Gabriel Inquired.
” Boss, you are always handsome. I’m sure she will fall in love with you all over again when she sees you.” John replied, trying to assure his boss that he was looking good.
John could only shake his head seeing the nervousness in his boss’ face.
This was a man who walked confidently to Brown Corp and closed a business deal. Then why did he look like someone who is about to meet the president of the United States of America?
He would never understand why people change in the name of love.
As if hearing his thoughts, Gabriel snorted.
” What do you know about love? It’s no wonder you still remain single.” The man mocked, making John’s lips twitch.
At thirty five, he was still a virgin who had zero experience in relationships.
” I’m not interested.” John defended himself.
Looking at his boss, he could already tell why he never fell in love. He was not ready to act like a split personality disorder patient.
