The following morning, Alicia woke up with a splitting headache.
She groaned as she tried to sit up.
Memories of how she found herself in her predicament flashing through her mind.
Yesterday, she went to a club after seeking permission from her cousin.
She ran into a pretty boy and they ended up chatting about nothing and everything.
Alicia smiled remembering how handsome the boy was. She was attracted to him, it was Love at first sight.
When she laid her eyes on him, she knew he was different from those scums who go around fooling around with any woman as long as they get their dicks satisfied.
She had met and interacted with alot of rich boys and had seen how they go around bragging about how many girls they have banged. That has always been a huge turn off to Alicia and that’s why despite being chased by many men back in country B, she has never dated anyone.
But things are different this time. She would be the one to pursue him.
Alicia was pulled away from her thoughts by another wave of throbbing making her curse.
With her fingers rubbing her temples, she made her way downstairs.
She didn’t need to ask where she was because she vividly remembered David picking her up from the club.
Walking down the silent hallway since it was barely six in the morning, Alicia collided with a warm but hard chest.
” What the…” the words died down from her mouth the moment her eyes recognized the person she had run into.
Alicia frowned. Why was his cousin sneaking out of a room that was his room?
Her eyes travelled to the opposite door and it was locked.
That was supposed to be her cousin’s bedroom so why was he sneakily walking out of one of the guest rooms?
” Where are you coming from? I thought that was your bedroom or did you change it?” Alicia asked, her brows furrowed.
David, who was caught sneaking out of his little woman’s room, didn’t know what to tell his cousin.
The woman was a blabbermouth and having her know that he was secretly sleeping with his little woman would be disastrous. Who knows what gossip would be incorporated into the truth? So he did what he does best, wear an expressionless face.
” That’s none of your business. Hurry up and leave my house.” He said coldly.
” Heh! Are you chasing me away? It’s hardly six in the morning. I have not even had water to drink?” Alicia complained.
She just woke up, how could he chase her away like she’s a total stranger?
” Don’t you have water in your house?” David retorted, annoyed. He just wanted to get rid of the blabbermouth before his little woman woke up.
” I still need to see Lily and spend some time with her. It’s been a long time since I spent time with my baby.” Alicia found yet another reason not to be kicked away.
She could smell a rat; like David was trying to hide something from her and she was curious to find out what it was.
” My daughter will be going to school.” David defended.
” Aiyee, it’s the weekend, remember?” Alicia cocked her brows at David who just glared at her.
” I don’t care, just get the hell out of here.” David snarled before walking to his room and slamming the door.
Alicia jumped at the intensity of the bang. More than ever, she believed that David must be hiding something from her.
Looking between her cousin’s bedroom door and the door he sneaked from, she contemplated for a minute before finally giving into temptation.
Alicia tiptoed to the door and twisted the doorknob
She was about to peer inside when she was forcefully pulled away from the door.
” What are you doing snooping around?” David asked in a cold tone. Just as he had predicted, his detective of a cousin would not fail to snoop around.
” I was going to the kitchen to take some water.” Alicia replied with a nervous smile.
” That’s no kitchen.” David said, pointing to the room Alicia was trying to open.
Without waiting for another word from the angry tiger, Alicia sprinted downstairs.
She clutched her chest as she breathed in and out dramatically.
” Miss Alicia, what’s the matter?” Aunt Meng approached Alicia who was slumped on the coach in the sitting room.
” Aunt Meng, I think David is hiding something upstairs. He’s behaving weirdly.” Alicia spoke in a low tone, occasionally glancing up the stairs.
” Miss, why would you say that?” Aunt Meng asked with a frown.
” You won’t believe it, aunt but I caught him sneaking from the room opposite his bedroom. I was about to sneak and take a look but he stopped me. You could have seen how furious he was.” Alicia dramatically explained, her facial features mimicking David’s angry face.
Aunt Meng giggled at her words, finding the Young girl’s words funny.
Crouching down, she whispered into Alicia’s ears which had the woman’s eyes widen in utter surprise.
” Seriously? You are not spanking me right now?” Alicia asked, still in disbelief.
Of all revelations she had expected, David having a girlfriend was not one of them.
Aunt Meng smiled mysteriously, not confirming Alicia’s question.
” Here, I brought you a hangover soup. Your cousin instructed me to make it for you.” Aunt Meng said, placing a tray on the table.
Alicia scrunched up her nose. She did not want to take it. She hated drinking soup the most.
” Drink it Young miss or you will have a problem with Young master.” Aunt Meng knew that mentioning David’s name to the lady would do the trick. She feared her cousin the most.
After taking the sobering soup, Alicia went back to her room to prepare for breakfast.
She took a shower and wore her clothes. She had her own room at her cousin’s mansion. Afterall, she spent weeks here before David got a house for her near the university.
Alicia was excited to meet David’s girlfriend. She wanted to see what kind of a lady was capable of thawing her cousin’s iced heart.
Minutes later, she walked downstairs dressed for the day. She had plans of visiting her grandmother’s house today in the evening. With the new gossip she had, she was sure her grandmother would be pleased to hear that David was dating again.
Three years ago, he lost his wife in a car accident. Ever since then, he remained unmarried and did not date either. He concentrated his attention on his daughter and the company.
Alicia has always hoped and prayed to God to give him a woman who will love him and chase away his loneliness. It seems like finally God heard her prayers.
When Alicia arrived at the dining room, it was only Lily seated there playing with her tablet.
” Good Morning sweetheart?” Alicia greeted proceeding to kiss Lily’s cheeks earning a giggle from the girl.
” Morning auntie.” Lily greeted back as Alicia was taking a seat next to her.
” That’s my beautiful Sister’s chair!” Lily shouted and Alicia paused in her tracks.
” Beautiful sister? Who is beautiful Sister?” She asked, confused.
She had not visited in two months and David already has another child?
Oh god! Don’t tell me that David had another daughter outside marriage? Alicia’s eyes widened at that thought.
Lily snickered seeing her aunt’s change in expressions.
” What absurd ideas have you got in your mind?” The little girl asked, making Alicia’s face go red from embarrassment.
Their little chit chat was cut short when David emerged from downstairs already dressed in an office suit.
He glared at Alicia who moved from the chair without waiting to hear another word from the daughter and father duo.
The three had settled and food brought to the table.
” I am starving.” Alicia said, moving to start slicing her bread when Lily slapped her hand.
” Someone is not here yet.” Lily said with a glare.
Alicia turned to look at David and he too had not started eating.
She felt awkward and wronged.
Just then, a lady jogged downstairs apologising for keeping them waiting.
Alicia’s eyes widened in surprise seeing the beautiful Lady approaching them. The smile on her face was as bright as dawn during summer.
” Gorgeous!” That word left Alicia’s mouth Involuntarily. She even felt like it was not enough to describe the lady.
” Close your mouth!” Lily and David said in unison, snapping Alicia from her stance.
