Jack’s POV
As we walk through the hallway, we sight some beautiful ladies coming down from the staircase. I chuckle softly as I hold Jake’s hands, whispering into his ears, “how do we know they are our mates or not?”
He childishly sniffs around as he shuts his eyes before I hit him on the forehead.
“That’s not how it’s done. Do we just ask them if they feel any connection?” I ask.
“We’ve read a lot of books. Yet we can’t figure this out?” Jake asks us, feeling disappointed.
“Maybe you can check out the PDF I sent to you while at the pack. You should get some information about the mating life. Check it now please. I have fallen in love with these two beautiful ladies coming. They have their gazes locked towards our direction. Is that a coincidence or what?” I ask.
“Just calm down. I’ll figure it now,” he says and continues, “you don’t have to pin anyone down. If she is your mate, your wolf will let you know. There’s this refreshing feel you’ll have when you move close to her.” He responds.
“Are you reading this from the PDF or just saying gibberish?” I ask as I forcefully retrieve the phone from him. He’s zooming the picture of Caroline whom he fucked while still at dad’s pack
“Jake tell me, if this is your mate, let me know. I’m not gonna hurt her. I’m not gonna hunt her down.” I silently whisper as he locks gazes with me.
“She isn’t my mate!” He slightly raises his voice as he retrieves the phone, walking away.
“Where the hell are you headed to, now?” I ask, folding my arms across my chest.
“To find my mate,” he snaps his fingers,, turning back to face me, “will you come with me?”
I quickly thud after him as he doesn’t want to reduce the pace he’s walking with. I hold him back after I can grab his shirt and instruct, “check the damn phone. Open the damn pdf and provide a damn info about mates.”
“I indeed read it from the PDF. It says so, really. If we keep standing at a corner, whispering to ourselves, we might not know when our eyes would change colors and we would be captured on camera and made to face the school panel. As long as the rules and regulations laid down by this school have to stand, then we must be expelled.” He says.
“Because our eyes change colors? Aren’t everyone here wolves and vampires?” I ask, feeling skeptical about continuing college here.
“Most of them are but none dare change eye color in the public. It’s a prohibition. I am certain you do glance through books, not check them well.” He says and leans his back against the wall.
“What do we do now?” I whisper, asking.
“Let’s go get some ice cream over there. When we are done with it, we can proceed. Let’s cool off our heads.” He suggests.
I object as I hold him back when he’s about to walk away to the ice cream shop, “I heard ice cream over there is overly expensive.”
“It doesn’t matter. As long as we are satisfied. Don’t you think?” He says and winks as he leads me to the ice cream shop. I can see a lot of people coming and going, to ensure they secure their bowl of ice cream.
“I don’t need a lot though.” I say, timidly as Jake does the collection. I move to sit before a lady does. I hold the chair as she suddenly snarls but I don’t let go of the chair.
“Leave here now. This is my seat. It’s been taken.” She orders.
“Back off.” She simply says as she cools down.
“No!” I slightly scream at her to demonstrate my fearlessness of her.
“Now!” She screams as she reveals her fangs, ready to bite me. My eyes suddenly change color as I softly growl at her. She backs off and keeps snarling as she makes towards me. I sight a few security men running up here as I quickly find my way out of here. I don’t want to be caught on camera or made to face the panel. I also don’t want to be expelled. I cherish my certificate even though I am a werewolf and I might never get to work with human beings.
She is finally taken away while everyone remains at a spot, too afraid of what’s gonna happen if she wasn’t controlled by taking her away. I slowly return after Jake snaps his fingers at me. I’m hiding at a corner where no one can see me. Is it the twin connection between us that makes him locate me easily? That’s quite interesting.
I walk towards the cafeteria now, ensuring my hands and feet don’t have any suspicious liquor like blood on it while I also maintain composure with a friendly expression on my face. Jake exchanges handshake with me as others look at me suspiciously.
“They don’t have to know you’re the one. I masked your scent when the security wolves came in.” He says.
My lips move but no words come out of it. I badly want to ask how he’s able to mask my scent. I think individual wolves can only do that. I shrug nonetheless and walk to the table where the bowl of ice cream is. The ice cream is especially sweet and although it’s much, I might have to order for more.
Jake finally notices my interest in it as he simply asks, “should I order for more? The waitress wouldn’t hesitate to bring it. I think they recognize us.”
“As?” I ask.
“Forgotten our father is the vice chancellor of this college? We don’t need to say it anyways. They might have smelt it in our blood as soon as we entered here. You should notice I wasn’t delayed to get this bowl of Ice cream.”
“I see.” I nod my head slightly as I wink my eyes at him, agreeing with him that he knows his ways well.
“Let the waitress bring more!” He suddenly orders.
“Really?” I ask as I await the waitress. As I dip my spoon into the bowl again, I suddenly feel repulsive inside of me as I gag. My wolf suddenly reacts wildly as it prompts me to get up. As I get up, my eyes change color alongside with the waitress eyes.
“Mate, mate!” My wolf cries out.
