Jack’s POV
I just got back from the day’s lecture but I can’t find Jake at home. I didn’t see him in class as well when we had the General Studies lecture. Where could he have gone to?
“Be calm.” I suddenly hear a voice speak, so close to myself but I can’t point to anyone to have said that. I assume it’s Jake hiding at a corner to say this but I can say this anywhere, it’s so close to me and I’ve searched the room all over again. There’s no Jake inside. As much as I know, my brother isn’t a ghost. Could someone have said that from the living room, yet I heard it inside my room because my wolf has heightened my senses.
“I’m Brave, your wolf. Don’t be scared.” It says again as I welcome him to my life. He speaks to my mind, no wonder I heard that so closely. Wolves speak through the mind? No wonder we can converse through mind connection.
“Thanks for being in my life. Please help me locate Jake.” I request.
“When he returns from class, we’ll collect his scent and save it.” It suggests.
I tease it after enjoying his prompt response, “Brave, I’ll need you to give me all the answers to the exam questions for this semester. For this session. For all the sessions I’ll be spending in this soon, even!”
“That’s not how it works. Be calm.” It retorts.
I lay low to bed as I feel relieved by those responses. I’ve been earlier annoyed by Jake’s absence but Brave has really done the work of convincing me to be calm.
“I need to find my mate. Let’s find our mate, Brave! Who’s she? Got any suggestion?” I ask, in my mind and as usual, the prompt response.
“We’ll find her today. Let’s wait for Jake so he can find his, too.” He suggests and I recline my back in bed, waiting patiently for Jake.
My eyes suddenly snap open as Jake’s undressed already and claims he’s been calling my name for the umpteenth time. I didn’t even hear anyone call JACK. I look myself in the mirror upon his request to do so, and I can see my eyes a bit swollen and red. I had slept off! Damn. I didn’t even see that coming. Did my wolf drug me or something?
I hope not. Because as much as I’ve heard, wolves can’t be detached from your soul except you’ll no longer exist and you’ll be with the moon goddess till eternity, only if you did right while in the wolf world.
“What’s got you thinking so hard? A female wolf I guess.” He teases.
“Stop it. I only welcome my wolf. It responded to me today.”
“Stop making false accusations against an innocent wolf.”
“I swear it did!”
“Wow. It fucking did?” He asks, as excitement is written all over his face. But judging from his reaction further, I denote that he’s only happy for me and hasn’t welcome his wolf yet
“I might eventually turn out to be an Omega. Who knows?” He says disappointedly.
“No. Don’t feel that way. I’m here for you.” I comfort.
“To defend me when someone steps on an Omega like me?” He asks, dejected, judging from his tone.
“You don’t have to say that. You’re not an Omega. You do tell me to be positive. What’s wrong with you?” I ask.
“I wish I can be as positive as you want me to be. We read a lot of wolf books, Jack. It says that once a wolf delays in speaking up to you through mind message, you will be deemed an Omega and if it lasts too longer, you’re not deemed fit to belong to a pack. Isn’t that the meaning of being a rogue? I’m either an Omega or a rogue, Jack.” He explains
“I’m gonna have my wolf suggest what we can do, okay? I don’t think you have to hear your wolf speak before you assume it’s inside of you or not.” I advise, winking at him to suggest comfort and that he should calm down. I hope his wolf will speak up in him and tell him to calm down as I was told by mine.
“What was your initial plan for waiting for me? You sent numerous texts, asking me to be home already. What’s the plan?” He asms, folding his arms across his shoulders before mounting the bed.
I clear my throat before responding, “just to see you. You know? Watch after my nerd brother.”
“Don’t say that again,” he warns strictly, pointing his fingers at me, “I am more exposed than you are.*
“Let’s have some proofs tabled.” I request as his lips curl into a smirk, claiming he’s bringing a girl over to our room tonight and he’s gonna fuck her till daylight.
“That’s not gonna happen in this mansion. Remember that we don’t live alone.” I object
“Did we live alone in the pack we came from? And at least, we slept with two ladies each. What about we multiply them here and exercise our strength on them? Remember that there are several gymnasium centres around. We can do around and gym. Money’s not a problem. We can pain for a year.” He suggests, slipping his phone out of his boxers as he goes online.
“I need a PS-4. I love gaming. Football especially. We should probably tell dad about that.”
“There’s no need. We’ve got the money. And about the ball? Do you like to play it with your real legs and not through the screen?” He inquires.
“I want to ask dad for the money and about playing with my foot? It’s a big No.” I retort.
“Coward indeed,” he jeers and states further, “if you inform dad about it, he’ll make sure we don’t get it, even by ourselves. He wants us to come out with first class logo. Don’t you know?”
“I think it’s high time we went to execute the plan!” I rise to my feet, saying.
“I knew it. What’s the plan?” He teases.
“Mate. Let’s go find our mates so we can get to know them better.” I suggest and he dresses up quickly, as we lock the door and re-enter the college premises.
