Harley’s POV
Probably Dominic has found a second chance mate as he’s totally unwilling to communicate with me ever since we fought and conquered the soldiers in the pack. We’ve claimed the pack now and he’s released the wolves. I am around the hallway, hiding at a corner, not wanting any of his people to see me. I mean the rogues that aided the conquer.
“Did you feed them all already? Ensure they don’t starve a bit. I’ll employ you to be in charge of distributing food when the time comes.” He suddenly walks past me as there is a dude following him as well. I suppose he’s the Francis he’s been speaking of, for a while now.
Another stops him from moving suddenly as he says, bowing his head, “Alpha, congratulations, the wolves now recognize you.”
“That’s great,” he retorts, chuckling slightly, “how about the lycanthrope? Don’t inform anyone that a Lycan sneaked into this pack please. We haven’t studied the materials used to refurbish the pack. That’ll be some work for some time later I assume. I’ll soon be at the centre of the pack to address them but ensure the pack is secure. I heard the dude well. He promised to hurt me.”
What’s a lycanthrope? How did it invade here? I don’t know much about this breed but I’m sure they must be powerful than we are, for him to be more specific about safeguarding the lives of wolves by appointing several watchmen at the gate.
“What about your favorite girl?” One of them asks before he would depart.
“Harley?” He retorts. For some seconds, I assume he’s seen a figure lurking around the hallway, eavesdropping the conversation.
“Yes, my Alpha.” He bows his head, responding.
“Harley’s in the pack. Can’t say where she is. But she might have to be locked up soon.”
“Why? Harley helped us to conquer the warriors as well. She should be treated fairly, my Alpha.” He petitions.
“Would you bear to see another female wolf being crowned in place of you, if you’re her? I am neither appointing her as the pack’s slut or the Luna, not at all. I’ll consider making her the leader of the omega district. Don’t fret. I’ll do her good. She’s my friend.” Dominic responds.
“I hope you do. Thanks for your response!” The dude salutes him and paves way for him to leave the hallway. While I think I’ve overheard them successfully, the dude runs towards my direction. I assume he’s caught me and this time around, my assumption is authentic.
He turns his back towards me as he slowly calls, “Harley, Harley.”
I don’t respond. I assume he’s just trying to confirm his doubts if I’m there or not.
“I know you’re there and you’ve heard the conversation. Come to my room. Let me give you some tips to attract the Alpha. You can’t bare to sit down there and watch another person step into your position.” He says.
I respond eventually, “if you are certain that I’m right behind you, why is your back turned towards me?”
“I don’t want anyone passing by to see me facing and talking to someone. They’ll suspect me and want to know who the person is. Would you want to be caught by Dominic? He’s not really in good terms with you. You didn’t offend him neither did you harm him in anyway but I can guide you. I’m close to him and he might consider making me his Beta soon.”
“Where’s your room? I hope this isn’t some kind of trap.” I say.
“Not at all, my lady. You’ve suffered with him. You have to enjoy with him.” He whispers back and suddenly stands straight as he cups his jaw while slipping out an handy mirror from his pocket, scrutinizing his face there. He doesn’t want to be questioned as to why he’s at a corner, whispering to no one since anyone can’t see me, not even when he’s got his back turned towards me.
“He’s gone. Let’s get going on time. Don’t waste more time. Once wolves start passing through this hallway, warriors will be employed to walk with them and we won’t be able to live here until after or more than twenty four hours. I don’t want you to be executed just when the pack is getting improved.* He says.
“I appreciate your kindness, man.” I say and as I stand up, a security wolf appears at the hallway. I can’t hide my face anymore as I remain stoic, ready to answer any questions asked. I hope fear won’t make me answer unbaked questions as I am scared of what might happen to me. If he ever bans me from his pack, I don’t have anywhere else I can go to. I’m not an Alpha that can gather wolves together again and create a different pack. In fact, Alpha bites are more effective in turning human beings. Regular werewolf’s bites might not turn the human. And if the human doesn’t turn to a werewolf in twenty four hours, such would run mad and eventually become a rogue years after. This is not the kind of madness being treated in the psychiatric hospital. This is called human-wolf interchange madness called HWIW.
“You’re lost suddenly?” The security wolf grips my two hands together as he’s about to handcuff me while Francis keeps apologizing to him.
“I was lost, actually. Can you rephrase your questions?” I ask.
“I didn’t ask you a question,” the security wolf says, “I only asked him and he failed to give me a response.”
I turn to face Francis as his expression remains confused but he whispers to me that the question is unanswerable. I’m not sure why’s he saying that but I keep mute about it as I plead with the security wolf to leave me the fuck alone.
“By the time you get to the hands of the Alpha, you’ll tell him to leave you the fuck alone.” He says.
I slowly jerk my hands away from him as he straps his gun to his fingers, ready to pull the trigger.
“Who the hell is the Alpha? Isn’t it Dominic?” I carefully ask as he begins to laugh wickedly. What does this mean?
“Dominic is my mate and I don’t deserve to be treated this way,” I painfully say as I extend my hands to him, “handcuff me and let’s go meet him.”
