Alex’s POV
“Employ your silver wolf strength!” I scream at Amanda to speed up the process as I hold Jake tight. Adriel keeps spraying a spell perfume at the air to further pressure us to release Jack. Jack remains clutched to me, coughing intensely as he tries hard to block his nose
Adriel blocks the escape ways available in the room as he laughs heartlessly at Jack being suffocated.
“Let’s give you another favor instead of Jack.” I plead but Amanda shushes me, promising that she will work it out. I hold myself back from screaming or rushing towards Adriel to kick him to the ground.
I can effortlessly push him to the ground, read what the spells entail, grab a tip and get out of this messy place but if I leave Jack to himself, he can double himself and take Jack away. We came to him to help us track the rogue that took Jake away and now he wants Jack to do that?
What then is our gain when we lose a kid to save the other? Isn’t it worse than one of the kids missing ONLY? I begin to get suffocated as I nudge Amanda to be quick. She stirs up her wolf to give her tips on how to reduce the suffocation in the room due to Adriel’s spells. She suddenly drops to the ground as Jake and I stoop to check up on her.
Her eyes snap open as she clutches to Jake. She points at the man, directing me to him, “do what you think it’s right. My wolf is not responsive.”
I shrug my shoulders as I slide towards Adriel, dragging his feet to the ground. I punch him hard on the face but someone suddenly pulls me away from him as I crash heavily on the ground. I realize it is the same Adriel I am fighting that pushes me away from him. He doubled himself to save himself.
“We can’t bear to lose Jack as well. I don’t even trust him to find Jake if we release Jack.” I say as my confused face stares at Amanda for a response. I am being frustrated already.
“Are you relenting?” She asks. I walk up to her as she whispers into my ears, “I detected that he can’t triple himself. Just double. After you pounce on him and he doubles himself to drag you off, I will hit the doubled self and we can both tackle his two bodies in such way.”
“What about Jack? Where does he stay? What if there’s a third self of his but not too strong to show up but strong enough to capture humans into the depths of the unknown?” I inquire.
“Jack and I will fight him off.” She responds with a smirk.
“That’s okay then,” I promptly say as I make towards Adriel again. This time around, he has started enchanting different kind of spells. Perhaps he’s overheard us and wants a greater power so he can triple himself and our plans fall through as a result.
I slowly drag his feet towards the wall as I punch him hard on the face. I carefully look back as I can see Amanda and Jack making towards the direction, ready to fight off any double self who wants to attack me. He suddenly reveals a dagger in his hands as he slashes my arms, giving it a deep cut. I let out a shrill as I get off from him. Amanda rather fight him off, thrusting his heart with the dagger multiple times. His other self approaches suddenly, wanting to fight Amanda off.
I muster the last fibre of energy within me as I push myself against the second self and we both land on the walls before we land on the ground. I chuckle evilly at his weakness as he vanishes in air.
“Don’t ever return!” I scream as I feel confident to have conquered him.
“Jack’s with him!” I suddenly hear a wailing voice and when I turn to Amanda, she’s sprawled on the ground. Only her.
“Where’s Jack?!” I scream, as my eyes bulge and my heart pants heavily, as I hold my arms tight not to gush more blood. Jack suddenly creeps away from the man as he and Amanda show up.
I heave a deep sigh of relief as I pull him into a big hug.
The suffocating smell of the incense or whatever he’s enchanted begins to vanish slowly in air.
“He died? Did you guys kill him?” I ask, chuckling as I kick the door to the ground. It falls flat and we run out of the room. I realize that the door isn’t an iron or wooden door. It’s like a door made with magic and spells. As his spells have failed him, so also the door has. I look at his dead body, shake my head as I hold Jack’s hands and begin to run towards the gate.
“We should wait behind. There might be clues to get Jake.” Jack suggests but Amanda rather considers shifting so he’d have Jack hunched to her back to get him out of here so he’d stop blabbering shit.
“Don’t Shift while in the rain. It’s not safe for your kind of wolf.” I warn Amanda.
“A silver wolf is way stronger than regular wolves.” She says as she throws her head backwards, about to morph into her wolf.
“We need to be out of here. It’ll take only a few minutes before we are located and chained.” She says.
“By who?” Jack inquires.
“Demons.” She slowly whispers as she morphs into her wolf. I ensure Jack is hunched to her back before I give my wolf the control as well. At least, if any demon is gonna try attacking, such should get scared at our wolf’s size for a start.
We majestically walk out of the dangerous pack as make towards the same path we trod while running heavily towards here when a rogue almost caught up with us.
