Alex’s POV
We are currently in a different pack in the forest. These wolves are indeed strong enough to protect us. They live in the woods and train better than we living somewhere behind the scenes of the city.
“Dad, it’s pouring.” Jack comments, as he steps out of the pack, claiming he wants to be under the rain. Amanda quickly reaches out to him, dragging him back inside the pack.
I give him a knock on the head, saying silently, “the Alpha rescued us from the gruesome wolves. We shouldn’t pay him back this way.”
“What way?” Jack inquires, folding his arms across his chest, scoffing.
“If any wolf dies prematurely, the moon goddess might inflict disease on the pack the wolf died.” I respond.
“I was only going to be under the rain. Nothing more.” He says and seals his lips as a figure lurks in the darkness, right behind us.
“It isn’t a rogue. There’s no way a rogue can intrude into this pack except the warriors aren’t loyal. The pack is being secured day and night, sun or rain.” I inform.
“It’s the Alpha himself. Adriel.” He slowly calls as the figure shows up. A very huge Werewolf. I am not as tall as his tail but compared to him before shifting, I am taller than he is.
I slowly bow my head as I request for what has brought him to me.
Wolves don’t speak. They only converse through the mind connection or gesticulate. Suddenly, my mind link splits up as I can hear a hoarse voice.
“Come to my room. I need to see all of you.”
After I hear it, his wolf walks away. What if my wolf isn’t so sharp to detect such message? It was very indefinite the voice spoke indistinctly but my wolf is very sharp to translate and convey the proper message to me.
“Come on, guys. We need to meet with Adriel.” I help them up as follow the wolf into his quarters. Jack is especially happy that we are lucky to find ourselves in a different pack as he can’t wait to shift to his wolf while predicting everything that would happen to him. The pain, the gain.
“Who got lost? His twin?” He inquires, now that we are in front of him, bowing slowly. There’s a mark on his forehead and a scar on his neck which suggests that he is a king of the Alpha.
“King of the Jungle – that’s who I am!” He lifts his voice as he points at me.
“May I ask if you can hear my mind?” I carefully ask as I shield my eyes away from him.
“Only when you mention anything related to me. You’re in the woods and werewolves aren’t limited to the powers. That’s for a different day. How do we capture the rogue that seized his twin brother?” He continues.
I sigh heavily as I carefully clear my throat before responding, “We traced the rogue’s scent to this pack. It should belong here.”
“No rogues belong to the pack!” He hollers.
“Calm down, Adriel,” Amanda says as she lifts her gaze to lock with the Alpha King’s, “we can find the rogue but we need you to follow us.”
“I’m sorry but no wolf in this pack, including but not limited to myself, can follow you outside the pack. We are bound by the moon goddess never to step out of the pack.” He conveys.
“You saved us the other time. We were outside the pack when you saved us.” Jack speaks up. I can’t hold him back after speaking up, but I warn him sternly to remain quiet if he doesn’t want to perish.
“I took good orders from the moon goddess to save you.” He whispers in return.
“Take same orders to follow us to save one of us. We aren’t complete as we speak. The dude is gonna shift in two days now. He’s gonna be eighteen soon. Wherever he’s been taken to, please help us retrieve him. We want him back.” Amanda retorts.
“No. That’s a bad order. You heard me call the previous order good.” He comments.
“Where are your pack members? Are they ghost? We can’t find anyone but I feel it in my spirit that there are wolves around.” Amanda notifies but keeps her head laid low, not wanting to glare at him for a quicker response as the King Alpha does gulp or sigh or clear his throat before each response.
He sighs this time around as he responds, “Are you a silvery werewolf?”
“A Silver werewolf, Adriel. I can be of help, can I not?” Amanda says happily, not raising her head nonetheless.
“You can be of help, but to my pack. I’ve needed a silver wolf for the past decade but never found one. It got to a time when I found one but it slipped out of my hands because of the sparkling resemblance between the wolf and my son. I though it was my son going to get me some stuff.” He relays.
“Then, the moon goddess hasn’t restricted you to the pack?” I ask.
“We weren’t even here. No one was in the pack including myself,” he says and laughs critically, “but now that I’ve been cursed, what do I do?”
We all lift our heads as we lock gazes with him. My confused face turns to look at Amanda as Jack keeps his focus on Adriel.
“Cursed Alpha King?” Amanda asks.
He nods his head in the affirmative, “Have you heard about me beforehand?”
“How did the moon goddess approve you to leave the pack to save us since you’re cursed?” I ask.
“I promised to sacrifice one of those I save, to her. I want to appease her and that’s one of the reasons I want to help you get his twin brother. After I sacrifice the kid here, you can track down the rogue that captured his twin brother.” He conveys and clears his throat.
We all rise to our feet, ready to leave but he suddenly appears in front of us. We look at his seat and can still see him there as well.
“Is this a spell or what?” Jack inquires.
“Yes. I’m under the moon goddess’ curse and I have direct access to use spells to bind others as well.” He relays as Amanda clutches Jack to herself. How did we proceed from the frying pan to the fire without prior notice?
