Dominic’s POV
I came to the trip with a cellphone. I suddenly remember as I received a call from the King Alpha. Why didn’t he catch a whiff of my scent so he’ll send a mind message?
I shrug off the thought as I focus on what Harley is informing me. Ever since I’ve known her, she’s been of no use except for rendering her ass to me each time I request for it. That’s her work anyway but there are strippers who are useful in other ways as well.
“Have you lost your mind again? You’re making me scared. I have been nudging you for a while now. You didn’t even answer my questions.” She says and before I can apologize, she shushes me.
Before I can ask why she shushed me, she points at an approaching figure. A very large rogue.
“A giant rogue. Let’s flee. Now!” She alerts and holds my hands as we run far into the forest, towards the south direction as we can sight the rogue just taking a few steps and almost getting to us.
“This isn’t about the ability to run fast. We can only escape if we are smart.” She says.
“You don’t have to say that. Think of a smart idea.” I say.
“Should we plead with it or do whatever it requires?”
“Giving up or surrendering to an enemy is the smart idea you’re talking about?” I ask, folding my arms across my chest. As we run down the direction, we notice a large bank of water and I hate to swim.
“Do we have an option?” She asks, as she notices my expression. We look back and sight the giant rogue and when we look forward, all we can see is the large bank of water. I feel depressed at this moment as I furiously summon my wolf. I don’t care how many wolfsbane injection I’ve been given. My wolf doesn’t show up but it strengthens me as I lift Harley and she screams. I shush her so the giant rogue doesn’t locate us by our voice. I climb the tall trees around as I begin to jump from one tall tree to the other. I can see the giant rogue heading towards the large bank of water.
“He’s lost track of us. Just be patient. I am here with you. You can’t fall or break a neck.” I comfort her as breeze blows hard at us, our shirt fluttering randomly. After I get to a deadend, I climb down from the trees and drop her carefully to the ground. I plant a kiss on her forehead and she immediately regains energy and pulls me into a tight hug.
“What? What happened?” I have to ask the question this way because the happiness written all over her face calls for it.
“This is the safehouse the guy has been hiding from all of us. This is what backs up his power. Once we are able to get in and claim the most important stuff here, he won’t be able to keep ruling.” She says.
“Isn’t he a werewolf?” I ask.
“He’s an hybrid. He needs blood to survive as well though not as desperate as regular vampires.” She informs.
“That’s great. Let’s break through!” I happily scream as I hit myself on the door and it breaks loose that moment. I am still with my now and arrow and as I sight a man inside this safehouse, I aim the arrow at him and shoot it so that he died on the spot. I am not sure he’s a vampire. Vampires are immortal. Once killed, they will either burn away or vanish for many years and reincarnate as a much powerful vampire.
“Why did you kill him?” I suddenly hear a voice behind me. I quickly set my arrow on the bow as I turn back to face the person. She’s holding a handgun and I quickly fire the arrow at her. It does hit her on the chest but she fires shot at me before she drops dead to the ground. Harley commends me and I smile.
“How the hell did you know I wasn’t the one speaking?” She asks.
“I just knew.”
“You can discern.” She says and I nod to the affirmative. I surely feel awkward as I inform her, “why do I feel your Alpha is on his way here? He’s smelt blood. He might think his machine has pumped some more blood.”
“Oh yeah that’s true. He does lie to us that he wants to meet with the neighborhood Alphas. Whereas I know that he comes here instead.” She says and I heave a deep sigh.
“I sense he’s so close.” I say.
“Let’s hide. Once he gets in, we’ll fire shots at him.” She says.
“What about we keep him alive? I will need tips from him to rule the pack again.” I retort.
“You do have a good plan but I’m afraid it can’t work out that way. He’s a vampire, do not forget.” She says.
“Mmkay.”
“He can run fast. He will bring warriors to fight us before we can escape. I don’t know how he does it but he does it. And again, he doesn’t move without his handgun. He kills anyone that disobeys him.” She adds.
“Lock the door. You know how he won’t know anyone sneaked in?” I ask.
“The dudes you killed are his friends. They have the go-ahead from him to get in here. So if he meets the door open, he can’t be so surprised. But let’s get it closed so he’ll know his friends have been inside for a while now.” She suggests and we both high-five.
“Smart indeed.” I say and she hurries to get the work done. While she returns to hide at a corner we are, the guy’s thuds begin to get closer and she runs with her feet making light thuds on the ground. As she sits right beside me, panting heavily, sweat breaking from her forehead, the dude walks in after opening the door. It’s a door you can open from the outside as long as you didn’t use the padlock on it from the inside.
As he gets in, he sights the two friends dead on the ground. He begins to cry desperately as he doesn’t know what to do. Either to call for his warriors or trace the blood to the hands of the killers.
I smirk at his weakness as I can see him removing the handgun from his pocket. As he straps the gun to his fingers, I think he’s going to shoot both of them so they die totally, but his evil eyes lock with mine at the corner we’re hiding at. Oh. I almost forgot he’s a vampire and can see clearly in the dark.
He fires bullets towards me suddenly as I evade it and ask Harley not to take a step further. I arch my bow and shoot arrows at him. He avoids several arrows but two of the last hits I angrily shot, gets to his bones as he falls to the ground. I also feel the bullets penetrating into my skin but just my arm.
“Harley!” I scream her name and she rushes out of the hiding spot as she begins to treat me. She removes the bullets with her fingers. I am sure she can’t remove all and it is kinda unsafe for my health to remove bullets with mere hands that might have been infected with germs. I feel the pain but I maintain composure so I don’t give her a hard time.
My wolf can’t remove bullets that have penetrated into the body system. It can only heal me from any wound sustained.
“I removed all. I swear.” She says as I can see her finger bent to a direction. It’s been hurt from removing the bullets. Although I don’t believe she removed all, I pull her into a hug and appreciate her niceness.
“What about returning to the King Alpha to show your gratitude to him for keeping you safe when you went berserk?” This thought suddenly drops to my heart as I suddenly assume an angry expression which makes Harley cringe. She thinks I was just trying to be a clown.
“Now that he’s dead, let’s go reclaim the pack!” I scream with joy but she holds me back.
“Dominic, I don’t know what to say but I’m not sure we can just rush there and claim it with the tight security wolves. You know you’re hurt already and your wolf hasn’t even completed your healing yet.” She suggests.
“I understand but we have to be quick as well.” I say and as I try to pick up the guy’s handgun, he suddenly moves and kicks my hands away. He springs up and his face looks much monstrous.
“You did this to me!!! Ahhhh!!!” He screams in agony and before he vanishes away, he screams again, “meet me in hell!”
He is definitely going to hell. How can such a wicked and serial killer get to be with The Angels? I hold Harley’s hands as we match towards the pack. We have to claim what is ours again. I am beginning to consider making Harley the Luna of my pack.
