Dominic’s POV
It is the dead of the night. Harley had suggested that we sneak into the pack by 2am, so that not everyone will get to attack us when caught. But the gate is locked. The fence is secured with barbed wires. Even electricity runs in the pack as I’ve heard. The guy has truly refurbished this pack and I’m glad it’s to his disadvantage and to my advantage.
“Let’s go in now.” She says when a security werewolf opens the gate, peeping around to check if there’s anyone roaming about. But he forgets to lock the door. He leaves it on the latch. Perhaps there are many more security wolves by the gate.
“I hope we won’t be shot.” I simply say as Harley rolls her eyes at me.
“Shouldn’t I be saying that?” She asks, and requests for my hand to lead me into the pack.
“It can’t be as easy as we planned it. I swear. Are you even sure this is my pack? It looks absolutely new.” I say but she shushes me.
I disobediently continue, “what about Nora and the kids? Maybe they can help.”
“One step at a time,” she says and gulps, “I hope your scent is masked. Once we are stopped by them, please stop and don’t act like you know it all. It’s for our good.”
I nod my head in the affirmative as we walk confidently inside the pack. A flashlight is being directed towards us as seven able-bodied warriors, fully armed, begin to approach from different directions.
“Seize them,” the one who seems like the leader, commands, “and ensure they stay in the pack cell before you ask any question.”
“We can explain why we are just coming in by this time of the day.” Harley says and the men recognizes her face.
The leader gulps and asks his subjects to pause for a while as he approaches Harley. He directs the flashlight at her as he whispers, “Harley?”
She nods her head in the affirmative and gulps.
“Didn’t you go for the hunting trip? Where are others?” He asks.
“Everyone died,” she says, “and this is the man who saved me.”
“This dude didn’t follow you. That simply means he’s amongst those you fought. Do you know him earlier than now?” He asks her and I stare at Harley to see her response.
“Not really,” she says and scratches the back of her neck, “but he’s a nice person. I can assure you.”
“What about the Alpha? Did you hear from him? And why are three blood stains on your palm?” He suddenly asks her as my eyes scan this area to count every soldier present. I know a fight tends to occur very soon due to the suspicious questions we’re being asked.
“I don’t know about the Alpha. And the blood stain? I got hurt during the hunting trip. Some people’s blood also splattered at my hands after being fiercely defeated.” She says.
“I will try to believe you. Further investigation takes place tomorrow morning. Take them to the pack cell.” He orders and my forehead is creased. As I begin to summon my wolf, Harley looks at me and notices. She places her hands on her chest and draws it below, indicating that I calm down and see what she can do.
“Just follow protocols. We can win this.” She whispers to me before the soldiers begin to push us towards the pack cell.
“I don’t want to be handcuffed. I am not a criminal.” I refuse it but he threatens to splash my skull to the ground.
“Why the hell will you kill me? What rights do you have to do so?! Haven’t I introduced myself enough or didn’t she say enough? Did I get in here with any weapon?” I rant on.
He smirks devilishly as he turns to Harley, “warn this stubborn friend of yours. I can kill him right here and get a promotion for doing so.”
They are only two that are leading us to the pack cell as my eyes dart forward and backward. I wink my eyes at Harley and she smirks, getting the message I’m trying to pass through. She suddenly stumbles against one soldier as both of them land to the ground. I kick the one in front of me to the ground as well as I punch him hard in the face, split my sleeve apart and block his speech with it. I retrieve the gun and fire bullets at his skull but as I look at Harley, I sigh shakily. She’s been shot severely. The soldier she fought with, stands up suddenly as he straps the gun to his fingers again and fires more shots at her arm. I suddenly rush towards him with anger boiling inside of me as I fire bullets at his heart. He drops to the ground and breathes his last.
“Harley? Harley? Harley!!” I call as I strap the gun to my back as I lift her with my hands, heading to a secretive corner across the hallway. I stay there as I try to do the mouth-to-mouth resuscitation but she didn’t drown. I am going berserk already but she must live. She’s helped me enough.
I remain in the hallway, trying to remove the bullets from her skin with my bare hands but it doesn’t work out at all. I stay there with her till dawn when wolves resume their work in the pack.
I whisper into her ears, “Harley, it’s time to claim the pack. Wolves are awake.” And she suddenly sneezes. I chuckle softly at that as I hold her tightly.
“How did I get here?” She asks as I stare at her arms and neck and it’s all healed. No more bullets. How did that work out? As much as I know, wolves can’t remove bullets from a skin. You’ll remove them yourself and the wolf will complete the healing.
“My wolf is strong. Don’t be surprised.” She suddenly says as I fix a frown on my face as I respond, “how did you know how you got here?”
“Well, everything rebooted just now. Let’s head to the field and kill some wolves. Cause some riots in the pack.” She whispers as some wolves pass us by. They don’t bother to say a word as they assume we belong to the pack.
“The guys we killed. We didn’t clear their body?” She asks.
“Oh,” I suddenly remember, “we truly didn’t. It would have been discovered, don’t you think?”
“Who would trace it to us? Maybe the other security wolves we met while sneaking in.” She says.
She helps me up as I keep the gun in my backpack. I actually stole the backpack from a store across the hallway. It attracted me and I stole it. Is that too bad? I’m even the Alpha so it’s kind of inappropriate to say I stole a thing from my pack.
I walk up to one of the soldiers we met last night, after we move out of the hallway and he immediately remembers we’re the ones they’ve been looking for.
“Don’t shoot them yet. PLEASE!” One of them suddenly pleads as I see guns being pointed at us.
“Why did you kill the men?” He asks.
“Harley was killed as well, I might say. It took me overnight to revive her.” I respond.
“They can’t hurt you except you hurt them first.” He says.
“Don’t push me to the wall.” I simply say.
“What does that mean?”
“You can look it up in the dictionary.” I fight back.
“Apprehend them and bring them to the Alpha’s court, while we wait for the Alpha.” They say and I finally agree to be handcuffed as Harley and I are led to the court where they want to wait for the Alpha I’ve killed. As we reach the court, I notify them that I want to relay an important information.
They don’t want to listen to me at first but when I mention that it involves the Alpha’s whereabouts, they eventually listen, paying close attention.
“Remove the handcuffs if I must say a word. You can block the escape doors.” I say and they remove the handcuffs.
“Remove the handcuffs from Harley’s hands as well.” I order.
“But there…”
“Remove it. Now.” I simply say as I shut my eyes and they snap open to see that it’s been removed.
“Now, what happened to the Alpha?”
