Alex’s POV
I begin to understand her tactics. She intentionally got handcuffed so as to visit the pack cell as she believes in her prediction that Dominic is present in the pack cell but here’s too secure for us to carry out an operation.
“Tell your Alpha that I want to see him quickly.” Amanda roughly says as the security guard kicks her to the ground, pointing a finger and sternly warning, “it takes me no time to reduce you to human if you’re a wolf and it takes no time as well to finish you off if you’re just a mere human! Behave.”
“And, hey, coward,” he points in my direction, “watch out for her. I’ll blow off your skulls if she tries something funny. I am going to lock both of you in here till the Alpha is free to see you.”
As soon as he leaves, Amanda easily breaks off from the chain as she helps me loosen mine as well.
“I’m grateful it wasn’t soaked in any liquor against the power of wolves.” She whispers, guessing the guard is around the corner.
I stutter and she asks me to keep quiet. I actually feel like my fear is going to turn to a reality so each time I remember I’m in a place where there’s only a slim chance of survival, I fret.
“Now, we can mind link Dominic better. Even if his mind link has been disconnected, we can reforge the connection right from here. Ask me how.” She says and gives me a biff on the nose.
“How come you know so much?” I ask, but she shushes me. It begins to sound disrespectful as I am being silenced each time I try to make a contribution. I don’t want to spoil the plan or fuck up because of intolerance but at the same time, not received insults upon insults.
“When you see Dominic, you can say as much as you want.” She says and suddenly rolls her eyes towards the door. She rolls them back at me and hurriedly says, “chain me up.”
“How do I chain myself?” I ask, my heart dropping to my feet.
“Just do this. Don’t let me have to scream.” She says as I handcuff her again. My chest is against the ground as my hands are curved in between like though I am really being chained.
“They are trying to outsmart us. Who do you think they are?” The guard asks the dude he brought with him.
“They smell of the two smart kids that escaped from here. They surely must be related to the kids in someday. Your answers will be important for the investigation of where the kids are at. Release the handcuff. Lift the bounds.” He commands as Amanda rolls towards me and acts like though her teeth are on my skin.
“Stand up. I have released your bound.” She commands. I sheepishly rise to my feet as the guard and the dude are shocked to see me free. They believe Amanda had done that and she did, indeed, but not at that moment.
I help her with hers as well as we follow the dude behind. Till we get out of sight, the guard keeps staring us and wondering what manner of wolves we were. I am certain we aren’t the first wolves to be chained up here. Humans might be the most victimized to the pack cell but wolves will amount to a large populace as well.
“Is this not the real father of Jack and Jake?” The leader suddenly says as I see the real face of father. I shield my face from him as he points a flashlight at me. He’s trying to confirm if I’m really Alex.
“Orion,” he calls out and begins to laugh wickedly, “what have you come to do in the pack?”
He points to the soldier by the door and instructs, “the meat has walled right into the meat craver’s territory. Have the other girl killed and this one chained.”
Amanda knows she’s the one being referred to. Before the soldier fires a shot, she rushes at them and strangles him to death. He drops to the ground as she retrieves his gun and points it at dad. She ensures the door is locked as she begins to mock him, “so praised a father and a leader but not more than a watchman in the office? Oh that’s so ridiculous.”
“Amanda, let’s maintain focus.” I finally regain my voice and courage.
“Any more words and I’ll fire shots at your heart.” She threatens as she points the gun towards dad, “where is Dominic? We came for him. Release him or die for not doing so.”
“I’ll rather die for not doing so than let you go with Dominic.” He says as he lifts his hands and goes on his knees. Father? I know what father is capable of and what he has done to Amanda when Dominic summoned him. He has put her under his control with some words and he can just repeat them now.
“Amanda,” I muster the courage to rise to my feet as I walk to her and whisper into her ears, “father is not just a Werewolf. Amanda, be careful. How do we defeat him? He’s the last enemy to be defeated. Last! If we can find our way here, we can also find our way out but not without achieving what we came here for.”
“Take. Hold the gun.” She drops it with me as she moves to the door and inputs some passkey. Suddenly, a door opens up and Dominic is being brought in chains that look like flames. Father lifts his gaze as it locks with the scene. He’s just too stunned to believe.
Amanda rushes towards my direction again and when I think she is here to retrieve the gun, she rather whispers, “you see? The closer you are to him, the higher the chance to hear his words in the mind link. He told me there’s a door here and the passkey. That’s the power of a silver wolf.”
She says some more words before dad begins to growl, turning into a monster quickly, “I pointed the gun to his direction in a bid to buy myself some more time. Dominic was searching for where he wrote the codes.”
“Searching? Wasn’t he chained?” I ask as she suddenly stoops low, allowing father to jump at me. His face was swollen and his body hairy. What kind of creature is this? The irritation alone disgusts me as I cast him off from me.
The guards that arrived here with Dominic are suddenly losing patience as they remove their masks to check what’s going on in the room. Amanda rushes at them and strangles both of them before they can say a word. Little does she know that they only know the passkey to unlock a different bound Dominic is in. The glass he’s been kept inside can’t be broken by a wolf’s strength. You only need a passkey.
Dad draws a dagger closer to himself as he aims for my belly. I reach for the rope right in front of me to escape that hit but he cuts the rope and stabs me in the belly. Blood splashes at his forehead which makes him smile as he gives me another hit. Amanda looks at my condition, shakes her head briefly and turns to Dominic again. The time to return to his underground prison is drawing closer and she hasn’t heard the passkey he mentioned. As much as I lose blood, she loses patience to wait for Dominic to say the words clearly. She is also struggling with her wolf as she doesn’t want to shift in a time like this but I can hear some strange sounds from her direction.
