Alex’s POV
“Do you think anyone in the pack might have an inkling on the sneak out?” I inquired, my voice dropping to a whisper. I extend my hands towards her and she rises.
“That was a motherfucking rogue, bro,” she said and her lips curled into a smirk, “if you didn’t hit that, I could have destroyed it.”
“Enough of gibberish. I didn’t hit it. Someone else did. Let’s get out of here on time.” Once I mention this, she doesn’t hesitate to stretch her arms out to me.
“Promise that we will return to the pack if we are ambushed once more.” She suddenly stops me on the track, saying.
Tears drop from my forehead as I think of a best response, “Okay. Promise. Let’s go find Dominic.”
“Let me lead the road,” she instructs, “follow me behind. The scent goes straight down the road. When we get there, we are going to turn to the left direction and head straight till…”
I shush her by placing a finger on my lips, “when we get there, you’ll explain all this.”
Quickly, we exit the particular spot before we are noticed again. I almost overtake her speed and she keeps complaining about my presumptuousness.
“Are you sure you really want to see Dominic?” And here comes the strange question. She informs me that we are seconds away from where Dominic is, and just a few seconds later, asking me to confirm if I’d like to see him.
“Anything it takes, I’ll like to see him.” I respond, nevertheless.
“I’m not sure you can get out of the bondage. Do you not mind?” She inquires as I roughly push her forward, not knowing there’s a deep hole right in front of us.
I hold her hands immediately she is about to slide inside the hole. She begins to lose control and it looks like there is a different power coming from the hole that has more strength to draw her than me.
“Try your luck.” I eventually left her hands and permit her to fall inside the hole. I wasn’t going to be questioned as to where Amanda were. I drop myself into the hole as well and I jumped down on a smooth sharp instrument, a sword with thick strands of bloods attached to it. The man lifts his gaze and it locks with mine.
My eyes scan around for Amanda and she is right beside me. I notice that we are in a queue we can’t remove ourselves from.
“What did we do wrong? We don’t know where we are. Please help us!” I scream, but the men are starting to get impatient. My voice remains hushed and muffled. I now understand why sometimes you can’t help the people underworld. You won’t hear what they are saying and if you’re lucky to, you still can’t save them. Their cries for help and your inability to help them will result into nightmares for you.
They don’t speak a word no matter the pleas. The man right in front of me requests that I lower my head while he drops it to the ground.
“I can’t do this, sir. I am here for a different purpose.” I struggle to say as my lips shiver and my head remains straight. For a moment, they all ponder at my bravery and unwavering determination.
“Get him out of the queue.” I hear a very low voice speaking in English like some interpreter. No!! I’m not paranoid. The man right in front of me spoke in Sanskrit but I heard his voice so low in English.
I don’t even care to know how that happened. I just wanted to find Dominic and get the fuck out of there.
“You brought us here. What are you doing?” I turned to Amanda as another sweat breaks from my forehead.
“You pushed me here. There’s no way of escape, Alex.” She responds and suddenly reveals a sharp dagger with her. I smile at that and turn my back to her so I can confidently face my fears.
Unexpectedly, she hits me hard from behind as blood splashes at the corners and rushed out of my mouth. She pushes me away from the queue and requests for permission to check if I’ve been killed totally.
As she reaches my side, she kicks me downstairs and sits on the ground. My eyes slowly trace her movement as I can see her coming towards my direction as well. How could she have done that on purpose? I am not willing to lay my life down before I can find Dominic. He doesn’t matter that much to me. Didn’t he request for father?
As I drop to the ground, I realize I’ve been dropped into an elevator. How the fuck did that happen? I can always find out after this nightmarish scene in my head. She struggles to get into the elevator as a burly man rushes after her, firing bullets with his pocket gun.
I can swear that her skull would have been blown off of she didn’t take that last step to get into the elevator with me. She presses some certain buttons on it and phew, we get to another place in the same hole. By the time I stare at the wounds on my belly, it has been partly healed by my wolf so I can stand up at least.
I follow her behind as we climb a ladder out of the hole. When I turn back, I can see a lot of military forces guiding the exit ladder.
“They can easily kill us before we get to the top.” I complain as Amanda initially keeps quiet. I actually feel I’m the woman right here. When she finally decides to respond, the military soldiers begin to fire bullets at us but it doesn’t seem so.
“The dagger has been purified with silver.” She says and points at a building in front of us, “that’s father’s dormitory. There are only two roads to get here. The other road could have been easier but you chose to keep your journey anonymous to your friends.”
I shrug my shoulders nonchalantly as I follow her behind.
“Can we mask our scent now?” I ask.
She rolls her eyes defiantly at me before responding, “don’t ever try to. Let father knows your identity. He can release Dominic when he sees you.”
“And chain me down in return?” I ask before walking towards the gate of father’s mansion. Yeah, I can call it a mansion because it looks much better than just a pack.
She smirks and convinces me to follow her behind.
As we reach the gate, the security wolves stop us to confirm our identity.
“This doesn’t make sense, Amanda.” I suddenly whisper into her ears as the security wolves hold us down, threatening to summon the Alpha before we are released.
“Your scents aren’t like others. Where did you come from? Do you belong to this pack?” He asked us. I think he must be the head of them all.
“So many unnecessary questions.” Amanda responds as they handcuff both of us and order some warriors to lead us into the pack cell before further investigation takes place.
