Blood Remains Thicker

Book:Pregnant For The Twin Alphas Published:2024-6-4

“What did you do to her?” I lower my body to the ground, inspecting Nora. “What have you injected into her blood?”
“Nothing.” He clips. “Here’s the pack cell. Anything can happen.”
“She was pregnant for me. She has kids for me. She…” I stutter, trying to show Nora’s importance to him.
“Keep shut, man. Even those kids don’t belong to you.” He retorts. “I can help you though.”
“Follow me behind. You have to respect the boss at this moment. He might look lower than you are, but…”
“I understand. Don’t waste more time.”
As I hunch Nora to my back, I follow him behind as Jack and Jake also accompany us. I can hear them discussing a few words but it’s not coherent enough.
“There. That particular room.” He points at a room but stops midway, not following us anymore.
“Who would be our guarantee?”
“Guy, we were both sentenced to life imprisonment in this pack cell. I am only trying to help you. Do the rest yourself. I can’t be a guarantor.” He repeats. Those words resound in my ears as I promise myself to respect the boss so as to save Nora.
I call him closer to myself, whispering, “guy, you told me there’s a way to escape. Why can’t we escape instead? I’ll find some treatment for Nora myself if we can escape.”
“Well, the boss is my confidant. So inform him about your intention to escape. He’s a good man, just that he requires something in return for any favor.” He responds and leaves. Jack almost kicks him to the ground because of those words but I hold him back.
“Don’t be so aggressive. That will not work now.” I whisper to him as we make up our minds to face the so-called boss.
A few more minutes and now at the front of his door, we ring the doorbell but there’s no answer. Someone suddenly begins to talk urgently, requesting that someone else budges the door open.
“Sorry for keeping you waiting.” He apologizes as we walk quickly inside before the door shuts itself. A creepy smile erupts from my lips after thinking that he might be the boss. But a sudden figure shows up at the centre of the table. My eyes snap open and I can’t believe my eyes.
“Who is this?!” I scream. The man who helped us with opening the door, says, “you don’t ask the boss such question. It’s rude.”
“Uncle!” Jack screams, and I’m almost moved to excessive laughter but the tension of the situation hinders that from happening.
“This is the pack cell. And I’m glad all of you are now here. I planned it with Amanda. Now, who’s more tactical?” Dominic begins to say.
“Simon, you can take your leave. I’ll call you when I need your services again.” He says to the guy, and he obeys promptly.
“So this was all your plan?” Jake requests, shooting daggers at him.
“Yes. Do you want to swallow me?” Dominic asks.
“But you weren’t aware when Amanda did that to Alex. She said it’s for his good.” Jack says.
“I only pretended. Who’s best at pretense here?”
“Shut up!” Jake screams as I watch both of them react. “We’re not here for some competition.”
“Oh. You’ve given up? Sure. If you don’t, now, you still will.” Dominic says with a smirk on his lips. My heart starts to throb when I remember that Ben referred him to the only one to help us out of here. Dominic? He’ll never let us go.
“It’s fine if you want to keep us here.” I say, standing to my feet, Nora still hunched to my back.
“You all can leave, with the exception of Nora.” He says, a smirk widening on his lips.
“I knew you would say this!”
“Release her or be burned in the furnace. Choose an option quickly.”
“My wolf resides in me still. Do you remember?” I taunt him, dropping Nora to the ground. As I look back to confirm she’s safe and not in the direction of Dominic, Jack and Jake nods, saying, “we’ve got her.”
“Do you know I am an Alpha and a top worker for the pack cell? Because I never revealed this to you?”
“Brother…” I break into tears. “… is this how we should treat ourselves?”
He stares at me, his lips unmoving. He refuses to let tears stream down his eyes. He maintains a straight face but I remain emotional.
“Nora Taylor was rescued by me. My wolves even tried to harm her but I had to stop them from their work. I brought her to my pack, taught her all she needed to know, and what did I get in return? Concealing the truth. She was pregnant but refused to inform me. She took the kids over to your pack, bore the kids and they began to bear your names. Is that fair?” He explains.
“Let me hold Jake and you hold Jack.” I consider.
“That isn’t happening. These kids are mine. Though Jack is so rude, but he’s my son. I can’t let him go into the hands of a stranger.”
“There you go again, a stranger? If we as twin brothers can’t live together amicably, what about the twin kids you claim to own?” I ask.
“I-I honestly don’t have an answer to that but I suggest visiting father if we are going to settle the dispute between us.”
“Visiting father? Do we even know his location?”
“I can track it. It’s not a problem. I have friends all around that can give me some information I need.” He responds.
“But we have to leave the pack cell before we can do that.” I inform.
“Yes. I can lead all of you away from this cell but you have to pay. And the kind of payment will only be revealed when you have been rescued?”
“What if it’s something I can’t pay?” I inquire.
“Man, are you ready to leave the pack cell or restrictions are sweet to your soul?”
“I am ready.” I say as those words repeat themselves in my ears.
“Kids, come with Nora!” Dominic asserts as he begins to run, away from his office and then outside. When we stay, expecting him to teach us how to escape, he screams, “just follow me! What are you waiting for?”
It will take a long time before I reach Ben. If not, I would have called him as well so we can escape together. I am sure Dominic might not have a chance to return here, hence the speedy escape. As we can now maintain his pace, Ben runs like he’s being hotly pursued. The sweat gushing down from his forehead can fill a bucket within seconds.
“Traitor!” He screams, pointing at me. I turn my back to him, not wanting him to look me in the face. I desired to call him. I just didn’t have the chance
A few feral Werewolves hinder us from moving suddenly.
“It’s Dominic. D for Dominic. We want to bring more people. We are five.” Dominic asserts.
“Six!!” Ben screams. “Not five.”
“Hey Carlos, we’re six. Let us go, I plead.”
They move out of the way as we run out of the pack cell and find ourselves in the thick bush. I enable the illumination of my wolf’s eyes and Dominic also does. Jack clings to me and Jake clings to Ben while Dominic takes the lead.
“Ensure we don’t get lost or walk into another wilderness, please!” Ben screams.
“I don’t want to hear any word from you again. Understood?”
We think Dominic had said that, but it wasn’t him.
