The Hunt

Book:Pregnant For The Twin Alphas Published:2024-6-4

It’s late already. I nudge Alexander for us to begin the hunt before it becomes impossible.
“Are you in good terms with my brother?” He weirdly asks. I shrug my shoulders, expressing nonchalance. He summons Jack and Jake, imploroing them to stay behind.
“You and me can go hunting while they remain in the pack.” He suggests but I oppose.
“That can’t be possible. I can keep them safe if you’re afraid.” I respond but he walks out of the room and I trail behind him. Jack and Jake wobble after me, even without me noticing, until we reach the pack gate.
Alexander delivers the work of an Alpha to his beta as he’s seen conversing with him. He pats his back and scurries his feet to meet us.
Quick one, we’re in the woods already. In human forms; we didn’t shift into werewolves because of the kids. But Jack’s alarm calls us to attention as our gazes are diverted to a figure.
My voice echoes in Alex’s ears, “who’s that?”
“A rogue.” He muffles under his breath. With an angry expression and infuriated feel, he wolfs out, launching an attack at the rogue, while I watch after the kids. I see him being defeated suddenly as he’s stabbed with silver and calling for help. But I won’t make the same mistake.
This might be a trap. I quickly shield Jack and Jake from the presence of the fight but they are eager to support their father.
“C’mon, don’t be a brat!” I angrily declare as Jack slides out of my control to join Alexander. He turns to face me, his back turned to Alex and the rogue, saying, “See? This is called hunting. We don’t have to be restricted every fucking time. Do you get it now?”
I nod my head slightly but the rogue suddenly glows its eyes, changing mission immediately. He grabs Jack forcefully and heads into the depths of the forest while Alex pursues him hotly. I deem it fit to shift and follow them but it’s late already as Alex’s speed only can discourage me from the intention of catching up. My mind tells me Dominic must be behind this because he claims Jack and Jake are his kids and would want them permanently in his pack.
Suddenly, a wolf drops to the ground, right in front of us. As soon as it drops, it shifts into human and I can see the wounds all over his body. I inspect the face while clutching Jake to me. It’s Alexander. The rogue must have escaped with Jack.
“Did you catch up?” This question escapes my lips though I find it inappropriate to ask, at a time like this.
“Don’t pursue.” He declares softly as he groans while his wolf heals him. I detect he wasn’t stabbed with silver this time around. He drags a backpack not too far from him and brings out a few clothes to put on. I wasn’t even aware he brought a backpack with him. Maybe he had seized it from the rogue, who can tell?
“We need to hurry.” He roughly says, his tone laced with fatigue.
“What about Jack?” I ask and he glares at me, “Jack? Jack’s not here?”
He turns to the other side as Jack creeps out of his hiding space. I grin at that. So he was even rescued. I pull out of Jake’s clutches and approach Jack. I pull him into a hug and he whispers a few words into my ears. Words that shouldn’t be heard from a young wolf like him. Not even yet.
“I need to fuck.” He whispers into my ears but I try to pull out and chastise him but he holds me tight, “calm down, I’ve got who to fuck in high school. I’d see better girls when I proceed to college.”
“I won’t permit you to proceed then.” I reply, my voice faint. I can’t hear the voice of Jake and Alex behind me but I perceive they’re still around because Alex’s scent lingers in air still.
Jack clutches out now, asking Alex a question burning within him, “dad, do I have to wolf out before I can have my scent? Can you track my scent without shifting under the full. moon yet?”
“That’s going to cause a lot of disaster if we force it to happen.” Alexander retorts as we remain on the ground, breathing heavily and planning for the next move in the quiet, eerie forest where hunting takes place best.
“I and this dude…” He points at Jake, “we’re resuming tomorrow. Don’t you think we need our scents activated?”
“I can transfer mine to your wolf but I’ll go for it” Alex responds.
“Then go for it.” Jack responds as I’m shocked to the marrow for having such a coldhearted son.
“Well, as long as you’re interested in visiting us in school…” Jake begins to express himself, “inform us ahead. Don’t cross your boundaries by barging into the school unannounced to us.”
I nod my head affirmatively, staring at Alex’s expressionless face.
“I already joined a WhatsApp group. The kids claim to be werewolves that have shifted. They own a pack in high school but I am not willing to join.” Jack states.
“Jack, we’re going to ensure you belong to a pack before we leave you to resume living in the school hostel. You need a confidant.”
“And who’s that?” He snorts.
“An Alpha. The Alpha of the pack you’ll belong to.”
“Alexander is an Alpha. Is he a confidant to his pack?” Jack suddenly inquires as I whisper to Alex, “is the vampire spell on him again? Why’s he so rude and cold?”
“I’m sure when you all are done hunting, you’d head home.” Saying this, he rises to his feet, starting to walk back home alone. I fidget as I rise to my feet as well but Alexander orders me to stay.
“Jake?” Alex silently calls but he shakes his head in disapproval. Alex swallows, and rises to his feet.
“He’s a son I’ve trained for years. I know how to get him. Let him fall in the hands of a rogue. When he is not able to resume high school after being caged by a rogue, he’d learn his lesson.” Alex declares.
I smirk at his intention and add, “the hard way.”
We both glare at him walking down the forest to escape from here, shaking our heads to his ignorance of what’s to befall him soon.
