I contemplate informing Cassandra about the message I got but her strong willingness to carry out the Alpha’s command does not give room for me to speak.
“You can go alone if you don’t want to listen to me.” I confront her but she slowly rolls her eyes at me.
“Jake, leave the bitch and let’s move.” She attempts to drag Jake with her but I hold him back. I begin to imagine how Jake would have cooperated with her, if the vampire spell was still active on him. Thanks to Dominic for that.
“I got a message. Jack has been found.” I finally decide to inform Cassandra, but since she doesn’t believe my words, I walk Jake back into the pack and she trails behind. When I am in the centre of the pack, I feel the same pulsation through my chest as I connect to the mind link.
“I got to my pack now and can’t find you. Where are you?” He questions, his tone sounding a bit annoyed.
I attempt to respond with my wolf but she refuses to say a word. I am near hitting myself until Dominic nudges me back to reverie.
“Who were you conversing with?”
“Just a friend.” I quickly say. I scan the room which I’m in and notice it is his room.
“How did you take me here without my knowledge?” I ask, thinking a single tap on my shoulder can disrupt mind link.
“You could have been distracted but you were focused on the person sending you a message. Such must be special. Now tell me, who is it?” He asks, making me dumbfounded. I slightly chuckle to make the situation look a bit humorous and reduce the rate of tension.
“I know it is no other person than my brother. That stupid kid.” He angrily states, forming a fist with his hand.
“How is he stupid?” I rise, walking up to him for some confrontation.
“The best answer should come from you.” He whispers in return.
“Yeah.” I respond with a smirk. “Sure. He’s stupid because his twin brother is much stupid.”
His eyes radiate and glow intensely as his wolf grunts within him. He subtly darts at me fiercely but I evade his attacks and slide under him. As he sprints to the bed, he cools down and returns fully to being human.
“Your twin brother is surely better than you in terms of training wolves.” I chuckle as I say, feeling blessed by the successful dodging of his attacks.
“You haven’t told me why you discouraged Cassandra from finding Jack. Do you know?” He turns to me now, speaking with a cool tone.
“Cassandra must have let you in on the details.”
“She didn’t.” He shrugs as he responds. “Seriously. I couldn’t even locate her when I saw you shivering, trying to connect with someone in mind link.”
“Damn. You could have skipped that detailed description.”
He chuckles softly.
“I will like to visit Alexander–” I inform but he interrupts suddenly.
“Stop calling my brother `Alexander!` His name is Orion! Orion Blackwood.” He slightly yells at me.
“As I was informing you, I plan to visit your twin brother this evening, and I’ll have to go with Jake.”
“You’re permitted to go, but not without searching around for Jack and bringing him back to this pack.”
I plaster a dangerous smirk on my chin, “if I was interested in telling you about his whereabouts, wouldn’t I? You’re low on getting tips from one’s intentions. Anyway, if you won’t permit me, I will permit myself.”
“This pack isn’t the same you abandoned years ago.” He sternly responds. “You escaped because of just a little mistake I made.”
“A little mistake that led to my freedom. You will make the same mistake.”
With that, I take a step forward and move towards the door. I turn the doorknob and walk out of the room. I begin to find Jake. I realize he’s not been with me, throughout my stay in Dominic’s room. My wolf enables my vision itself as my eyes catch the sight of the kids district in this pack. I dart towards there with swift speed, and once I get there, I see Jake being trained by some formidable werewolves.
“Hey, hey, it’s enough now.” I warn but they roll their eyes at me and continue the training. I feel humiliated by that but I can’t report to the Alpha that I’m not in good terms with.
“His brother will be trained in this manner as well. Don’t you want that?” I hear a gruff voice behind me as I look back but can’t find Dominic. My mind marks him as the prime suspect. He reveals himself inside the district but I’m only by the doorstep.
“Jake!” I scream suddenly as he runs towards me since he’s not the next in line to be trained. He just finished a session of training. As I collect him from the air when he jumps happily at me, I dart towards the pack gate but Dominic hinders the way.
“Nora, listen, please listen…” He pleads, not wanting me to shift and escape. “… these are our kids. Why do you cherish a stranger better than the father of the kids?”
“Perish with your slut.” I utter sharply as I angrily fling him away from my way. Within a few seconds, I reach Alex’s pack. It’s not too distant from Dominic’s pack and I employed my wolf speed.
Alexander is busy brushing his teeth when I sneak inside the pack with Jake. I shush him so we can surprise Jack and Alex. I love to call him Alex though it’s said that his real name is Orion.
He’s only clad in a short knicker. I tickle him and he chuckles as he glares at both of us, too surprised to have us here. I pull him in for a warm hug so shock doesn’t get the bad side of him.
“Damn. How did you sneak in?” He shivers as he questions but I only pat him so he will keep quiet. Jake runs to him for a hug and he receives him warmly.
“What about Jack?” I quietly ask, expecting he’d talk about him before I even bring it up at all.
“I lost him.” He says.
“That’s a prank. For both of you. For making a whole Alpha look scared.” He edits.
The door creaks open as Jack emerges from the living room. One notable aspect I appreciate about Alex’s pack is its resemblance to a normal house, providing a comfort that differs from Dominic’s pack. I pull Jack into a firm hug, patting his back before releasing him. Alexander’s words bring me back to reality. “We’ll be hunting down the street tonight.”
