I lower my face to better picture the end where the smoke is coming from. Jack clutches tightly to me as we both find our way out of the pack. We finally trace it to another pack. It’s a ceremonial wedding for the next Alpha in line when he caught the scent of his mate and marked her. Jack chuckles at the emotional scene of two lovers.
“Let’s return to the pack on time before we are being found.” I caution Jack but he rebuffs my words and sprints forward into the pack. My hands terribly shake as I realize what I have done. How could I have not held him so tightly so he won’t escape? I run towards the pack to bring him back but the sight of a rogue stops me. My breath is choked as I’m determined to punish Jack when I find him.
When I face back, it’s Alexander I meet. He pulls me into a warm hug and I rest my head on his chest to relieve me of the heavy thought of Jack getting missing. When I realize the hug is getting longer, unlike Alexander, I attempt to pull out but I’m being squashed to himself. I struggle to free myself and when I finally do, the Alexander rushes back to the woods.
I gasp at the quick movement as I detect him as a vampire. That can’t be Alexander, he must have been cloned. I’ve been undergoing stress for the past few weeks. If not, I should have mastered some werewolf tactics – ability to detect scents.
Dominic’s presence brings my thoughts into a random stop as my throat seizes and I fail to explain what happened to Jack. When I stare at him since he falls silent, he is also not happy. I suspect that something must have gone wrong with Jake.
“Where’s Jake?” I ask as a lone tear drops from his eyes. Reality dawns on me as I’ve never encountered sad Dominic. I run past him, and head towards his room. I kick doors that won’t open on time, and finally reach his room only to hear some annoying laughter behind me. It’s Dominic.
Jake is hale and hearty. He approaches me with laughter, as they both feel great at achieving this prank on me.
“Where’s Jack?” Jake’s mood switches when he realizes Jack’s not present with him.
“He… must be somewhere safe.” I try to conceal the truth but Dominic notices my voice failing.
“Should that be your response as a mother?” He wildly questions with a burning gaze.
“Should the Luna be responsible for searching the whole city for her kid?” I retort.
He sights furiously, “did I ever ask you to search? Make the truth plain every single moment! Now, where’s Jack?”
“He sneaked into the pack over there.” I point at the pack and Dominic sighs shakily, but shrugs his shoulders as Jake follows him behind, when they go to find Jack.
When he reaches the doorstep, he pauses and stares back at me, “don’t try to trail behind us. We can reach him.”
“You can’t catch his scent. He doesn’t have a werewolf scent yet.” I respond but he ignores and moves away with Jack. I start to ponder on how my life could have been, if I’d been with Dominic all the way long. Probably he wouldn’t have even permitted me to give birth to my kids through the labor room, he could have asked the pack healer to do the needful. Though it’s faster, but much more painful. I also can’t imagine the insults I would have earned from him, if only I’d been staying with him all this while.
I keep an eye on them until they are about to get out of sight. I run towards the door with my human speed but as I descend the stairs, my wolf begins to take control as I evade some of our werewolves so I won’t unintentionally attack and kill him. I speed straight to where Jack and Dominic are. As I approach, Dominic already knows it’s me, because he can smell my scent. I shift back in their presence while they wait for me. When I shift back now, Jack flings some clothes at me, and I’m shocked.
“I knew you’d come–” He disallows me from speaking.
“Thank you.” I slowly mutter and put them on, as I move behind them. Dominic hasn’t said anything yet. Maybe he doesn’t want to flare up.
“Next time you shift back and I stare at you that way, I am so going to fuck you hardly. Understood?” He threatens but I nod my head and ignore using my lips.
“Which ceremony were you talking about?” Jake inquires.
My lips hang as I attempt to speak, I only point at the pack, trying to confirm the figures I saw when Jack escaped from me.
Dominic growls, “Nora, there’s no one in the pack! They deceived you.”
“It’s not possible. They must be joking.” I say and walk confidently into the pack, searching everywhere for at least someone.
“Jack!” I scream, every now and then, but my voice only echoes and no one responds. Dominic and Jake cross their arms against their chest, awaiting a response from me. My eyes become teary when I find Jack for a few minutes in the pack and can’t even find anyone else, not to talk of him. He must have followed them to where they went to, or maybe he was coerced. What do I tell Dominic and his brother?
When I return, I am met with their burning gazes. That only makes my words slow because I don’t have any excuse to have let him escape.
“Cassandra and Jake will find him. We have the flier for the event that took place here…” He says but I interrupt.
“I said it. A ceremony took place here.”
“Let me not hear a word from you again. Listen to me carefully, it’s optional to follow them to where Jack might be lurking around, but I will send Cassandra on that mission and his brother will also go.” Dominic says.
“Why are you exempting yourself though?”
“I have better works for the pack.” He responds bluntly and walks away with fury. I roll my eyes angrily at him, feeling great that the kids weren’t trained by him, or in his pack. They could have sworn for him countless times. The Cassandra approaches Jake now as she disgustingly rolls her eyes at me.
“Hey.” I drag Jake back, and clench my fist. “What arrogance is that? Do you know who I am?”
“Mannerless fool. The Alpha has sent me on a mission. Don’t delay it so you won’t face the wrath of the pack.”
My wolf grunts inside of me as I struggle to control myself from turning. She rather giggles at that.
“I am the Luna for this pack and I have the rights to ban you. Behave yourself.” I instruct her.
“Oh, an impregnated human that was turned by a stranger, sorry madam.” She describes, smiling devilishly at my irritation at her words.
I deliver a stinging slap to her face promptly, which surprises her. Her wolf growls menacingly as I growl back at her, till Dominic returns here to intervene.
“Come on!” He growls from a distance but his Alpha tone stops both of us from fighting with our wolves.
“Where is your dignity as a Luna?” He questions as he grins at my intention to fight a wolf in my pack.
“And for you, when you return from the mission, I will punish you for daring to confront the Luna for this pack.” He raises his voice at her.
“She…” She stutters but Dominic interrupts.
“I don’t need to know what transpired.” He finally says and walks back to the room but I can notice that his dick is wet. I enable my werewolf sight as I trace his steps back into the room. When he opens the door, I see Harley swaying her ass vigorously as she lowers herself to give him the best sex position. Sex won’t be the end of Dominic. I grit my teeth but resists the urge to record it as an evidence for cheating.
“Come on, let’s move.” Cassandra nudges as I follow her, with Jake, to the location of those that were present at the ceremonial wedding.
When we move out of the pack, Cassandra asks me a question. I intend to ignore but I choose to respond, to maintain my dignity, as Dominic had said.
“Should we shift to get there on time, or flag down taxi?” She consults.
“Who appointed you as a missionary wolf?”
“Why?” She suspects the question.
“You have no expertise at this. Not at all. If we shift, what about Jack?”
“We’ll hunch him to ourselves.”
“So he’ll fall like you did when you were a child, which makes you unable to think properly now?” I chuckle evilly after getting deep into her with words. She sighs nervously and doesn’t talk back at me.
“Mum! I prefer transportation by road, not by woods.” Jack suggests and I peck his chin. As I do, my eyes suddenly glow and I feel a pulsation through my chest. Someone is trying to mind link me. I connect to it and listen to the person.
“It’s Alexander. I got Jack. Where’s Jake? Where are my kids?”
