Chapter 448 The Secret Deal

Hearing Marvin’s shouts over the phone, he had a hunch that something bad has happened. Credence’s heart skipped a beat.
Given Marvin’s immensely calm personality, the only reason he would lose his cool and shout so loudly was that something truly terrible had happened.
Credence’s heart sank. He frowned and asked in an unusually calm tone, “What happened?”
At that point, Marvin gritted his teeth hard and clenched his fists, he almost crushed the phone in his hand. “Credence, I just got some news. Melanie, that damned woman has just been freed for a huge sum of money. Someone made a deal for 200 million dollars to take her away.”
“Speak up, when did it happen?”
Credence’s deep eyes instantly turned colder than ice, he saw Dorothy shrinking her shoulders from the sudden chill that came from him. He quickly composed himself and gave her a warm smile. After that, he moved his still wounded legs and walked out of the ward. His voice was cold and deep, “Do you know who is behind this?”
Marvin had already arranged for some of his men to monitor Melanie at the capital prison. If it weren’t for the direct orders by the highest commanding officer to keep Melanie alive, killing her without anyone noticing would have been a piece of cake.
So, it wasn’t long until Marvin would have to call Credence with an update.
“Credence, I understand the situation. You have to listen carefully, the only reason Melanie can get out of prison is because of Jeremy. He was the one who asked Wilson to bribe them with 200 million dollars. They must have used several middlemen to make the deal, so Wilson was not the one who made the deal.”
“We have thoroughly interrogated Melanie. She has given us all the information that she has, save for the identities of a few drug lords. We don’t know whether it’s because she doesn’t know or if she is unwilling to tell us. However, she didn’t have much left to say, and the higher-ups decided to sentence her to death at midnight.”
“However, before the execution, she was secretly replaced with another prisoner who looked just like her. Wilson took the real Melanie away”
Marvin continued, “That woman, is petty and will seek revenge for the smallest of grievances. She absolutely despises you, Dorothy, and your children. You’ve made things difficult for her and almost got her killed. Now that she is out of prison, as long as she gets a chance, she will kill you and your entire family. Once she’s ready to take revenge on you, it will be bloody and ruthless.”
Credence suddenly had a splitting headache, veins throbbed out from his temples. After thinking for a while, he calmly analyzed the situation and said. “Will you be able to find Melanie’s whereabouts?”
“We don’t have any clues for the time being.”
Marvin had a headache as well. He let out a long sigh. “If our target was just Melanie, with my abilities, I could get her exact whereabouts in three to five hours.”
“However, Wilson’s appearance proved that Jeremy is now helping Melanie. That makes things incredibly complicated.”
“As of now, not only do I not know where she is, I don’t even know who she wants to get revenge on first, that’s the worst part. She didn’t come looking for you the moment she got out of prison, what does that mean?”
“Back in the private room, Jeremy said that sooner or later, you’d kneel down in front of him and beg for Belle’s life. This means that Melanie is very likely going to attack Belle or Dorothy.”
“In short, that woman is a madman, and Jeremy is the crazier one between them. When these two lunatics get together, no one knows what horrible things will happen to them.”
“No! I have a hunch that she will definitely kill the little girl we’ve just found. As long as she dies, Belle will lose the only bone marrow that is a match for her. By that time, Belle will still die even if Melanie doesn’t do anything.”
“I know Melanie’s personality well. If she wanted somebody dead, she would use any means necessary, any!”
When Credence had figured it out, he felt his throat tighten. He clenched his phone and told Marvin hoarsely, “Marvin, you should request a long period of leave from the army. I’m going to need your help. As for Jonathan, yes, I’ll call him right away and tell him to take the little girl to a safer place. Right now, we need to move fast.”
“Okay, I’ll get Benjamin to take me back right away. Credence, let’s talk after I get there!”
When Marvin hung up the phone, Credence immediately dialed Jonathan’s cell phone number.
He didn’t know what the hell Jonathan was busy with in the middle of the night. He called three times before the fool answered the phone. He yawned and said lazily, “Credence, it’s so late. What are you calling me for? I’ve found a matching bone marrow donor for Belle. I called Marvin and asked him to tell you this good news. I’ve been searching without rest for the past few days, and I’m finally getting some good sleep tonight. Why do you keep calling me? D*mn it, what do you want?”
“Stop sleeping! Melanie got out of prison. That girl is the one she wants dead.” Credence roared. “Get up and take the little girl to the safe spot. You have to hold on until Marvin and I get to you!”
“What? What?! Melanie, that crazy woman is out of prison? How did she escape? F*ck, how did Melanie escape, is everyone in prison useless or something?” Jonathan was sleepy. After listening to Credence’s roar, he couldn’t think straight.
“What the hell are you blabbering on about? Hurry up and take that girl away, hide her somewhere safe!” Credence roared. Under the light of the snow-white corridor, Credence’s cold face seemed to be covered in a thin layer of frost, and it caused people to shiver with fear.
Jonathan reacted quickly, having understood the situation. He immediately confirmed things with Credence, and he promised he would take good care of the little girl who was suffering from skin cancer.
After listening to Jonathan’s promise, Credence gently heaved a sigh of relief and said calmly, “Thank you, Jonathan.”
Suddenly, he heard the sound of footsteps coming from behind him. When he turned around, he saw a pair of long and narrow eyes glaring at him. He saw Dorothy in a loose, light blue pajama with her bulging belly. She walked towards him nervously.
When she met his sharp eyes, her body shook, but she didn’t retreat. She approached him slowly and whispered, “Credence, did something bad happen? You said, no matter what happened, whether it was big or small, good or bad, you wouldn’t hide it from me, you said that you’d tell me everything.”
“I believed everything you said earlier. So, you have to tell me the truth. As long as you take me as your wife, then you have to be honest with me!”
