No one knew what Credence said on the other end, but Jeremy’s white eyelids twitched, and his black eyes flickered. He spun a black pen with his slender fingers and smiled. “35 percent of the Scott Group’s shares? Mr. Scott, you are being really generous!”
“However, I already have a lot of money. 35 percent of your shares alone is not attractive enough for me.”
“What else do you want?”
Jeremy narrowed his cold eyes and smiled wickedly. “I am free tonight. Let’s find a place to talk, I’ll tell you my conditions.”
He hung up the phone and threw it on the desk. After licking his lips with the tip of his tongue, he lit a cigar and took a few big puffs. He glanced up at the snow-white ceiling and blew out a puff of white smoke. He laughed and said, “Credence, I can’t believe there would be a day where you’d need my help. This feels better than doing drugs!”
Wilson hurriedly picked up a pile of documents and walked in. When he saw Jeremy sitting on the office table looking relaxed, he quickly piled up the documents onto a nearby table and walked over to him. He winked and asked, “Boss. Why are you so happy? Did you get some good news?”
Jeremy gave him a sidelong glance, raised his gloomy eyebrows, and said lazily, “Credence will finally kneel before me and beg for my help, isn’t that a good thing?”
“What the f*ck? Credence is going to kneel down and beg? Is this true?” Wilson was shocked.
His boss has launched several attacks, both obvious and secretive, against Credence. However, Credence had never submitted to him. Why was he doing it now? Why would he suddenly kneel down and admit defeat to Jeremy?
Jeremy smiled coldly and said, “What? You doubt my words?”
“No, I would never!” Wilson glanced at his cold smile and dared not provoke him further. Seeing that he almost finished smoking his cigar, Wilson immediately lit another one and handed it to him. He smiled subserviently at Jeremy. “Boss. To see Credence bow before is such a momentous event! You’ll take me along to see this, won’t you?”
Jeremy took out the cigarette and suddenly stood up from his chair. He kicked Wilson in the kneecap and smiled. “Alright, I’ll take you! When the time comes, be smart and record every single embarrassing moment.”
At the same time, in an empty ward in the hospital. Once Credence ended the call with Jeremy, thoughts of his father’s past flashed in his mind. He couldn’t calm himself down.
This morning, he had received a message from the hospital in Monticello. They told him that his father had shown signs of waking up. His hands and feet would occasionally move, but his eyes were still closed. His brain waves were still stable throughout.
No one knew when he would actually wake up.
As for what exactly happened between his father and Dorothy’s mother, Ysabelle, he could only get the whole truth from his father.
Why did his beloved wife suddenly become the daughter of the woman who ended his parent’s relationship?
There was also the matter of the treacherous and malicious Jeremy. It was very likely that they were related.
The relationship between all of them was so messy!
Credence leaned back on his wheelchair, frowned and remained silent for a long time. Then, he smiled faintly, pulled out his mobile phone and called Benjamin. “Reserve a room at the Blue’s Bar, I want it ready by 8 o’clock.”
After receiving Benjamin’s confirmation, Credence put his phone away and returned to Dorothy’s ward.
He had been away for just a little while, but he already missed her!

At 6:30 p. m., Dorothy woke up and found that apart from the thin white quilts covering her, she smelled a refreshing aroma from the man in a black suit.
At first glance, she could see that it was Credence’s clothes. She accidentally spilled a little bit of soup on it when they were having lunch earlier. The stain was still on the left side of her chest.
Dorothy rubbed her sleepy eyes and looked at the window with a frown.
It was getting dark, and there were sparkles of lights outside the window. Orange light shone inwards and rested on the slender figure of a man by the window.
He was quietly sitting in the wheelchair with no expression on his handsome face, he looked like a statue. He picked up a cigarette between his fingers and stared at the embers with his black eyes. No one knew what was on his mind.
Dorothy’s heart suddenly throbbed. She blinked and was in a daze for a few seconds before she remembered that she had asked him to get the test results. She wanted to know if Yezoo or Ysabelle’s bone marrow matched with Belle’s.
But now, upon seeing his slightly cold face, Dorothy became timid, she dared not ask about them.
If Yezoo and Ysabelle’s bones weren’t a match, she might collapse.
The sound of movement on the hospital bed startled the man who was deep in his thoughts.
Credence turned around. Dorothy’s eyes were wide open, and she was staring at him. There was an obvious look of fear in her eyes.
She really hoped that the results were good.
Yet, she was afraid of the worst possible outcome.
To her, Belle’s life was more important than anything else!
He still remembered what she had asked him that afternoon, and Credence’s eyes darkened. He soon calmed himself down and rolled the wheelchair to Dorothy’s bedside. He gave her a charming smile and asked her, “Are you awake? Do you want to drink some water or some soup first?”
“I don’t have any appetite right now.”
Dorothy shook her head. After thinking for a while, she asked the question that was in her heart, “Credence, about that… test report, did you get them?”
“I went, but no one was around. The doctor was away for the time being, something had come up.”
His eyes were gloomy, but he hid it well. He handed her a cup of warm water and placed it in her hands. He spoke calmly, “I went to deal with some urgent documents this afternoon, I wasn’t able to check afterward.”
Credence was very good at lying. Dorothy thought that he was telling her the truth. Her eyes swept over the bedside table and noticed a stack of thick documents. This made his lie even more convincing. She slowly lowered her head and drank a huge cup of water. After that, she placed it back on the table and said, “If you are free tonight, then go and take a look.”
“I need to head out tonight. I have something to attend to.”
Credence placed the cup back and took out his phone. There was a new message from Benjamin: “Mr. Scott, I have reserved room 606, it is on the sixth floor of Blue’s Bar.”
Seeing him look down at the mobile phone, Dorothy didn’t think too much about it. She casually replied, “Alright then, when Germaine comes over, I will ask her to pick it up for me.”
“There is no need to trouble her with such a small matter.” Credence raised his long black eyebrows, lowered his head, and calmly left a warm kiss on her white cheeks. “When I come back from dinner, I will go there myself and get the report for you.”
His appointment with Jeremy was at 8 o’clock tonight. He needed to rush over immediately after watching her finish her dinner.
He didn’t want Dorothy to find out the bad news before he left.
He was worried that if he wasn’t there when she learned about the bad news, she might be so disturbed that something terrible would happen to her again.
His sounded reasonable, and so Dorothy didn’t push the matter further. They had a nice dinner together.
After the meal, they chatted for a little while. Benjamin then entered the room in a hurry and left with Credence.
Benjamin drove and reached the bar at 7:57 p. m.
Three minutes later, Benjamin pushed Credence, who was in his wheelchair, straight up to the sixth floor using a special passageway. They reached the private room on time at exactly 8 p. m.
There was only a faint light inside, and a waiter who was waiting quietly in the dark. Obviously, Jeremy hadn’t arrived yet.
Credence wasn’t bothered by that, instead, he told Benjamin to push him in. He licked his thin lips and ordered more than a dozen bottles of highly potent vodka.
Then, he lit a cigarette and savored it. His deep black eyes were surrounded by a shadowy light, no one knew what was on his mind.
A few minutes later, the heavy wooden door of the room swung open with a loud crash.
Credence’s eyes turned cold.
He had finally arrived!
