Chapter 407 I Am Sorry, I Am Really Sorry

Book:My Husband Hates Me Published:2024-5-1

Dorothy finally understood Melanie’s true power.
She was so savage that she almost dragged Credence along to die with her. It was obvious she was just as powerful as Credence. Melanie could easily have her killed if she wanted to.
Credence had insisted on sending Dorothy and Belle away. He truly was looking out for their safety.
But for some reason, she tripped over her suitcase and almost lost her baby.
Almost having a miscarriage was the last straw for her. She would never forgive him for that.
However, it was only now that she began to understand the truth. He was doing all this behind her back. Apart from forgetting about all the pain, he had brought her, what else could she do?
Dorothy anxiously stared at the closed doors of the operating room. She started praying for Credence.
“Credence, please be well. Belle needs you, the child in my womb needs you!”
“I need you too!”
Not long after, Juelz came looking for her with breakfast. He handed her some food and gave Belle some milk. He asked Belle to quietly eat in a corner while he went over to Dorothy. He stared at her face and spoke in a trembling voice, “Dory, there’s something I have to tell you. I’m sorry.”
“Juelz, all you’ve done is take care of me, that or you’d be working at your company, what’s there to be sorry about?”
Her eyes were still fixed on the red indicator lights, and she smiled as she told him that.
There were a lot of dishonest people in the world, but Juelz was not one of them.
She trusted him with all her heart, and it made Juelz feel all the more guilty.
He took a deep breath and sighed. “Dory, two days ago, Jeremy invited me to discuss a plan to attack Credence. I went to the meeting on an impulse. When I arrived, I realized that Melanie was there too.”
Dorothy wasn’t paying attention to Juelz and initially turned a deaf ear to him. But when she heard Melanie’s name, she clenched her fists. She frowned and asked, “What happened next?”
“The two of them wanted me to cooperate with them and schemed against Credence. Jeremy said that it didn’t matter if Credence was half-dead or disabled, that would be enough for him. But Melanie disagreed. She wanted Credence’s body, she wanted to get him unconscious and take him to Jenciga to become her man. At that time, I agreed.”
“Dory, do you know why I agreed to do this? Because I thought that so long as he was gone from Talco City, I would be able to have your love!”
Juelz wiped his face and continued. “In the middle of our discussion, I went to the bathroom and met Marvin. He told me everything about Melanie. Only then did I learn that she was one of the top assassins in Jenciga. She’s connected to so many drug dealers. Besides, Credence wasn’t her only target, she wants you dead as well.”
“At that time, I was dubious about Marvin’s plan. When I went back to the room, I overheard their conversation. She really wanted to kill you, and there was no room for negotiation. So I excused myself. I didn’t want to put your life in danger again.”
“Last night, they went to the hospital and ambushed Credence. I was informed of the attack, but I didn’t warn anyone because of my own selfish reasons. I didn’t tell you, and I didn’t tell Credence either, that was what led to all of this.”
The guilt from the bottom of his heart churned his insides as he continued his confession. This caused his voice to deepen and become hoarse. “I’m sorry, Dory. I’m, I’m really sorry! I only did these things because of my own selfish reasons!”
Dorothy did not know how to react after hearing this. Her face turned pale and she pondered for quite a while. After that, she finally processed everything Juelz had said. She slowly turned away from the operating room to look at Juelz. “Juelz, is everything you said true?”
“Dory, I’m not lying, I’m really not!” Juelz closed his eyes. He felt an immense wave of guilt and shame.
He had exposed his true self to Dorothy. His most honest, most self-centered side. He had no intention of making excuses for himself anymore.
Faced with such honesty, Dorothy lowered her gaze and parted her lips. However, she did not know how to answer him.
Credence was seriously injured. He was undergoing surgery in the emergency room. No one knew whether he was dead or alive. Whether she held a grudge on Juelz or not, it didn’t matter right now.
After staying quiet for a while, she raised her head. She didn’t look at Juelz, who was next to her, covered in shame. Instead, she continued to stare at the flashing red lights. She spoke in a hoarse voice. “Juelz, do you think Credence will survive this time?”
Juelz hesitated for a moment and answered with uncertainty. “Probably, probably, I guess he might!”
Marvin said that Credence was nearly shot in the heart, and fell down from a three-story building that was more than 20 meters tall. Even if he survived, he would be crippled. The chances of survival were very slim.
Belle finished her breakfast and wiped her mouth with a napkin. Then, she tossed all the rubbish into a nearby trash can. She took out a packed breakfast from the bulging bag in Juelz’s hand and gently placed it in Dorothy’s hand. She blinked her big beautiful eyes and looked adorable. “Mommy, Daddy Juelz bought this. It tastes good. Please eat it. Don’t let my little brother go hungry.”
Belle’s words snapped Dorothy out of her chaotic thoughts. She lowered her head and looked down at her belly. She nodded and said, “Thank you for reminding, Belle. I’ll eat it right away.”
She opened the box and found it had all of her favorite foods inside. There were so many kinds of snacks in the box.
She could see that Juelz really loved her a lot.
He did not participate in the ambush against Credence. He just kept it a secret from them.
But he was very good to her. Everything he did, he did so with sincerity. Why should she blame him?
For her baby’s sake, even if she didn’t have any appetite for it, she would force herself to eat.
Juelz sat next to her. He felt uneasy when he noticed that she was trying hard to eat while trying not to break down from worry.
He knew that staying quiet was the right thing to do, for now.
As long as Credence was still in the emergency room, it didn’t matter how much more he said to her. None of it would work on Dorothy.
Time passed, one second at a time.
As time passed, Dorothy became so nervous that she clenched her fist so hard and her veins bulged out. Credence still hadn’t come out of the operating room. Suddenly, someone unexpectedly arrived.
