Chapter 406 It Hurts

After Dorothy finished speaking, she sat on the sofa in a daze, and her eyes were filled with worry.
She had no idea what Marvin was going to say, nor did she know what had happened to Credence. She just couldn’t help but worry about the man who had hurt her time and time again.
Marvin easily spotted the worry in her eyes and spoke in a hushed tone. “Last night, Melanie led over 50 assassins in an all-out attack against Credence. When I arrived, I saw Credence and Melanie both fall from the third floor. Melanie is in a coma, and I’ve sent people to the police station to keep an eye on her, but Credence…”
Marvin was about to say something, but then stopped. Dorothy was so anxious, it felt like her heart was about to jump out. Her face was pale when she asked. “What happened to Credence?”
“Credence is severely injured. He was shot, the bullet missed his heart by half an inch. He’s been sent to the operating room in this hospital. He’s lost too much blood and is in a coma.”
Dorothy was heartbroken. Her face was blank, and her pale lips trembled as she asked, “Tell me, which floor is he on?”
“He is on the second floor.”
As soon as Marvin said that, she stood up from the sofa and reached out to grab Belle’s hands. Belle was calling out for her daddy. The two of them rushed out of the room in a panic.
As soon as she walked out of the ward, she ran into Juelz. He was holding a large bag of food and fruits in his hand. Dorothy looked lost and anxious, and didn’t notice him at all. She held Belle in her hands and rushed off. Juelz jumped at how fast she was and shouted after her. “Dory, I’ve brought some breakfast for you and Belle. Where are you two going?”
Juelz’s voice rang loudly in Dorothy’s head, and it completely snapped her back to her senses. She turned to look at him. “Juelz, I’m taking Belle to see Credence. He’s seriously injured. He’s in the emergency room on the second floor.”
Juelz’s face dropped. He asked, “Credence is injured?”
“Yes.” Dorothy nodded and stood at the door of the elevator. When the doors opened, she rushed in while holding on to Belle’s hand.
As he looked at Dorothy’s thin frame, he saw how worried she was about Credence. Juelz felt saddened by this.
He had participated in the discussion with Melanie and Jeremy to assault Credence. However, Jeremy only informed him about last night’s attack at the eleventh hour. He instinctively felt that Jeremy was simply playing tricks on him and that he had no intention of letting him go.
After all, Melanie was simply too greedy. Not only did she want Credence all to herself, but she also made it clear she would kill Dory.
He was determined not to let Melanie cause any harm to Dory.
That’s why after answering Jeremy’s phone call, Juelz thought about leaving their agreement.
However… he didn’t expect Credence would be defeated by Melanie and Jeremy.
He even got sent to the emergency room. This meant Credence was seriously injured.
A voice kept calling him from within. It kept asking him if he had a conscience.
If only he had called Credence in time and gave him a warning. If he wasn’t so selfish, perhaps, something different would have happened? Perhaps, nothing would happen to Credence, right?
Marvin stepped forward and walked towards Juelz. “Juelz, Credence is injured, it’s serious. You should be happy.”
“Of course I’m happy.”
The two of them looked at each other and stood in silence. Their bodies trembled as they straightened their backs. Juelz smiled. “Credence has hurt Dory time and time again, causing her to fall into despair. He should have expected something like this would happen to him. Now he’s being punished and has been taken into the operating room because of another woman. Serves him right!”
“Do you really believe you can earn Dorothy’s love just because Credence is dead?”
Marvin’s gaze hardened and he spoke sternly. “She loves Credence, not you. If anything happens to him, I’m certain Dorothy won’t remarry. It doesn’t matter how much you do for her, she’s blind to it. It will all be in vain. Why even bother?”
“Because I enjoy doing them. What are you going to do about it? This is between Dory and me. It’s none of your concern.”
“Juelz, it’s not good to turn a deaf ear to advice. I’d suggest you think this through.”
Marvin was greatly disgusted at him and didn’t want to stay any longer. He noticed that the elevator was still on the first floor, so he turned away and took the stairs.
Juelz was alone in that dark corridor. His face was dark, and his breathing was heavy.

Jeremy and Wilson stepped out of the elevator. They only had time to see Juelz’s back disappearing into the ward before he slammed the door with a loud bang.
Wilson stretched his neck out to take a look and then reported to Jeremy. “Boss, I spoke to the receptionist on the first floor. The ward next to Juelz is Dorothy’s, and the ward next to Dorothy’s is Miss Germaine’s.”
“Miss Germaine is staying in the first ward at the end of the corridor. Humph, it’s so far away, and perfect for that sh*tty doctor to flirt with her.”
“F*ck off!”
Jeremy raised his leg and kicked Wilson to the ground. He smiled maliciously and looked happy. His footsteps were extremely heavy as he walked towards Germaine’s ward.
He had killed hundreds of people in his life, and his hands were stained with so much blood they could never be washed clean. He never once regretted his actions, nor was he afraid of the consequences. The only thing he ever regretted was torturing Germaine. He regretted that a lot.
It was because of this unrelenting regret that he stopped spilling blood with his hands. It’s been about two to three months since.
Clearly Germaine had greatly impacted him.
Sooner or later, he might even give his own life for Germaine.
As he thought about these nonsensical ideas, he reached the door. He noticed that it wasn’t closed, and he slowly closed his eyes. A few seconds later, he fiercely opened his eyes and gently pushed the door open.

On the second floor, outside the emergency room.
Dorothy and Belle were seated on the green chairs arranged along the wall. They were silent.
Belle pointed at the closed doors, blinked her large blue eyes, and asked. “Mommy, is Daddy in a lot of pain while he’s in surgery?”
“Yes, it hurts a lot, but Daddy is brave, he is not afraid of the pain.”
Dorothy gently held on to her swollen belly with her hands. She looked up at the red indicator lights which shone like blood. The rims of her eyes turned red.
At that moment, the pain in her heart was at its worst!
