Chapter 405 A Bad Intuition

The morning sun slowly lit up the silent hospital.
A gray Lamborghini was quietly parked beside a small path with trees.
When Wilson drove Jeremy here, it was almost three o’clock in the morning. Germaine was definitely asleep since it was so late. Since he couldn’t go into the hospital to check on her, Wilson accompanied Jeremy in the car until the sun rose.
He opened his eyes and looked at the back seat. He happened to meet Jeremy’s eyes. He let out a lazy sneer. “Let’s go, it’s about time we got out of the car to get a look at this so-called chief doctor.”
“Okay, Boss, please wait for a moment. I’ll open the door for you. What kind of chief doctor could he be? He doesn’t even qualify to help you with your shoes.”
Wilson smiled, got out of the car, and quickly moved to the back of the car. He respectfully opened the door for Jeremy. “Boss, when I find that doctor, should I rush him and stab him a couple of times, or should I put a bullet in him and call it a day?”
Jeremy smiled and was about to say something when out of the corner of his eye, he saw a black car drive up to the entrance of the hospital.
As soon as the car stopped, two tall men stepped out of the car. He recognized them.
One of them was Credence, and the other was Marvin.
Seeing the both of them, Jeremy frowned, and his eyebrows drooped. “It seems that Melanie didn’t succeed last night.”
Wilson followed Jeremy’s eyes and looked over. “What the f*ck, Melanie brought over 50 assassins to deal with Credence, and he’s still alive? D*mn it, there were so many people, and they couldn’t do anything to Credence? Did Melanie grow up with dirt between her ears?”
“Boss, I can see that Credence’s clothes are covered in blood. He must have been badly injured. Would you like to send someone over tonight?”
Wilson then ran his thumb across his neck, indicating a swift solution to Jeremy’s problems.
Jeremy shook his head and smiled. “There’s no need for that. It is much more interesting to toy with a dying victim.”
Wilson didn’t quite understand, but he understood that his boss didn’t plan to mess with Credence for the time being. He licked his dry lips. “Miss Germaine should be awake by now. Please wait for a moment, Boss. I’ll go get us some breakfast.”
Jeremy glumly glanced at him and didn’t object.

It was 7:30 a. m. Dorothy was lying on the hospital bed and her face was pale. She shook her head and woke up with fierce palpitations.
Belle was standing in front of her, dressed in a pair of long-sleeved pajamas. She was rubbing her eyes with her small hands. She looked very sleepy and cute. She raised her head and asked. “Mommy, did you have a nightmare again? I heard you calling out for Daddy! You kept telling him to run away. You said that there were bad guys chasing after him.”
Dorothy stretched her hand out and comforted Belle. She lightly patted her head and smiled. “Belle, did I really say all that?”
“Yes, you did!”
Belle nodded as she spoke. “Mommy, I heard it many times. You woke me up.”
She lowered her head and looked at her daughter’s big eyes, Dorothy felt choked up from her sobbing. She was upset and couldn’t say anything for a while.
Indeed, she just had a terrible dream. In it, Melanie was holding a pistol in her hand. She aimed it at Credence’s chest and shot him many times.
Blood gushed out of Credence’s chest. There was so much blood everywhere.
That scene was so real to her. It felt like she could touch him, and she just needed to stretch out her arm.
When she woke up from her nightmare, she finally understood that even though he had deeply hurt her, she still didn’t want him to be in danger.
After a long while, Dorothy’s wildly beating heart had calmed down. She lowered her head and gently kissed her daughter’s little face. “Belle, you’ve misheard me. I didn’t say that.”
“But, Mommy, I really did hear you say that!”
Belle thought for a bit, and then she spoke in a sweet voice, “I know, Mommy, you must really miss Daddy. That’s why you’re calling out to him in your dreams, right? Also, it’s alright to miss Daddy, so why won’t you just admit it?”
Faced with her innocent daughter, Dorothy didn’t know how to explain how complicated her relationship was with Credence. She decided to just stay silent and nodded. She then changed the topic. “Are you hungry? Do you want to have breakfast with Germaine?”
“Sure.”
Belle clapped her hands and cheered. She turned around, got out of bed, and put on her shoes. She then happily ran into the bathroom.
Dorothy stretched her hand out and picked up some of Belle’s golden yellow hair from her pillow. She felt a sharp pain in her heart.
In the past week, Belle has been losing hair more frequently. If this continues, she would eventually lose all of her beautiful hair.
This meant that her condition was worsening.
Dorothy gripped the strands of hair in her palm and clenched her teeth. She calculated how much time had passed. It had been less than three days since her amniotic fluid inspection. The doctors still needed to run a complex chromosome analysis on it. It would take them at least a month to get results.
She couldn’t do anything for her daughter, all she could do was wait.
Dorothy was worried about her daughter’s condition. Tears welled up in her heart.
Belle had finished washing up and ran out of the bathroom. She ran to the bedside with a toothbrush and a cup in her hands. She raised it in front of Dorothy and smiled. “Mommy, hurry up, brush your teeth, and wash your face. Don’t let Aunt Germaine wait too long!”
“Alright, I’ll be right there.”
Dorothy looked up and forced back the tears in her eyes. She held her belly as she slowly got out of bed. She took the cup and the toothbrush from Belle, and went into the bathroom.
After washing herself up, she changed into a loose-fitting long-sleeved sports suit and walked out.
After taking a few steps, she saw Belle run to the door and opened it. Marvin stepped in. He was frowning. When he looked up at her, he spoke with a hoarse but steady voice. Every word was said slowly and clearly. “Dorothy, please wait a moment. Please brace yourself. There is something I must tell you, it has to do with Credence.”
Upon hearing this, Dorothy’s heart sank. She slowly moved to the sofa and sat down. Her hands trembling nervously, she clasped them together to steady herself. She clenched them so tightly it began to hurt.
“Mr. Jules, tell me, what happened?”
