Inside Dorothy’s ward.
It was the middle of the night, Dorothy was lying on the bed. She suddenly woke up from her nightmare with a scream.
“Ah! Credence, no!”
She opened her eyes and saw the white walls and her quilt. Then she realized that she was just having a nightmare.
In her dream, Credence was in a terrible fight for his life with a group of killers that Melanie brought along. His eyes were bloodshot red, and he was badly outnumbered. In the end, he continued to retreat until he reached the edge of a cliff and fell.
The dream was so real that she could still feel the blood oozing out of Credence’s body.
Thinking of that terrible nightmare, Dorothy could not go back to sleep. She quickly got up and tried to reach for her phone on the bedside table to call Credence.
Right now, she really wanted to know if he was alright.
She wouldn’t be at ease unless she knew he was fine.
Dorothy placed her slender fingers on the screen and scrolled over Credence’s contact. Just as she was about to call him, her phone vibrated. The words ‘Credence’ flashed on the screen.
She stared at his name, and laughed.
Just as she was about to call him, he called her first. Did they think the same thing?
Dorothy’s imagination went wild when she thought of that nightmare again. She did not hesitate to answer the call.
She heard his deep and sexy voice over the phone. “Honey, are you okay? Does your stomach hurt? Is our child obedient today? Did our child kick you?”
She listened to the man’s tender words and choked up. Her eyes were slightly watery. “The doctor gives me regular checkups, I’m fine. What… what about you?”
Dorothy heard him chuckle. He replied that he would be a whole lot better if she was willing to be sweeter towards him.
His reply gently tickled her heart. It didn’t feel painful, but it also made her feel hot.

Late in the night.
Credence and Marvin were walking through the lobby of the nurse’s department. The both of them stood at the entrance of the elevator and were silently waiting.
He had a faint smile on his face. He hung up the call and waited for the door of the elevator to open. Two middle-aged men in janitorial attire came out with a large rubbish bag. They lowered their heads and walked out.
As they walked past Credence, a large hole suddenly opened from the black rubbish bag. The medical refuse leaked out onto Credence’s trousers, and the air was instantly filled with a rancid smell.
Marvin swiftly reached out with his hands, grabbed hold of the two cleaners, and threw them to the ground. He then turned around. “Credence, are you all right?”
Credence shook his head. His trousers reeked of the horrible stench. This made him extremely uncomfortable. Credence walked over and squinted his long and narrow eyes. He looked at the two middle-aged men who were crying out in pain.
The two cleaners who were on the ground continued to bow and plead, “Sirs, we are very sorry, we didn’t do it on purpose. It was an accident. Please let us go, okay?”
“We have families to look after, we can’t lose our jobs. Our families will starve to death!”
Credence narrowed his eyes and looked at them for a while before his pupils constricted, “How did you guys get in here?”
The entire building was under strict surveillance by Marvin and his men. Not even a fly could get in, let alone two cleaners.
These two middle-aged men had entered so easily. It was really suspicious.
“Sir, we came through the special washroom. It is at a corridor through a small door at the back of the building.” Marvin kicked one of the men as the other explained and begged for mercy.
Credence raised his hands and motioned for Marvin to send them away. His deep eyes turned cold. “Come on, let’s go take a look.”
Soon, all of them made their way to the back of the building. They pushed aside the branches of a large tree and found the narrow door.
It was a really small and narrow door.
Marvin opened the door. Under the dim lights, they saw over a dozen steep stairs that go all the way up. It was so narrow only a single person could walk through it at a time.
Sensing the menacing look on Credence’s face, the middle-aged man pointed inside and said in a trembling voice, “Sir, our supervisor told us to clean this building once a week, and they asked us to be careful, so as not to offend any big shots. So, in order to be extra careful, we thought about cleaning this place at night, but we didn’t expect to run into you. We are sorry, we are really sorry.”
Marvin flicked on the flashlight on his phone and bent down to carefully check the area. Then, he slowly stepped out and nodded to Credence. “Credence, you can let them go. They’re telling the truth.”
After the two cleaners left, Credence took the lead and walked in. Marvin followed him behind. “Credence, I was careless. I didn’t notice this door in the past few days. I will get some people to guard it.”
Luckily, they bumped into those cleaners today and discovered this hidden passage. If Melanie had set up an ambush from here, it would be very difficult for them to prevent it.
Credence was quiet. In a corner, he looked up and scanned the surroundings with his sharp eyes.
Suddenly, he saw an empty capsule in the corner. He bent down, picked it up, and placed it in his palm. When he saw what it was, he immediately knitted his long black eyebrows. “There’s no need to send anyone, we’re too late.”
“Too late for what?”
Marvin was still smoking a cigarette. He had casually asked him that when realization dawned on him. A killing intent suddenly surged from his body. “Credence, are you saying that Melanie is already here?”
“That’s right. Not only is she here, but she’s brought a lot of people too.”
Credence was standing in the corridor on the third floor with a harsh expression on his face. The white light from the ceiling shone on his head, and it stretched his shadow out in a long line.
His black shadow, accompanied by his black suit, made him incredibly intimidating.
He stared at the empty capsule in his hand and spoke. “I’ve seen drug addicts use these pills in our missions before. It’s a powerful stimulant, which can boost the functions of the human body to the absolute maximum for a short time. Only Melanie or Jeremy have access to these drugs.”
“They would stoop to using drugs. Looks like they really want you dead!”
Marvin looked along the empty corridor and smelled something that was out of the ordinary. He immediately tensed his body and reached out to grab his pistol on his waist. “Credence, wait here for a while. I’ll contact my men. I will ask them to search each floor as soon as possible. We’ll find Melanie immediately.”
“Your men should head out to deal with Jeremy right away. As for Melanie, I have my own ways of finding her.”
Credence walked straight into the washroom at the end of the corridor. Standing there, he removed his soiled suit and pants.
Marvin thought that he wanted to wash away the terrible smell. “Credence, I’ll stand guard outside. Hurry up!”
That vicious woman Melanie had entered the building. A fierce battle was about to erupt.
Unexpectedly, Credence, who was in the bathroom, closed the door. “You don’t have to watch my back, Marvin, do what you must.”
Marvin frowned. He understood Credence’s intentions but had some doubt. After thinking about it for a few seconds, he decided to listen to Credence. As he left, he was in such a hurry that he didn’t close the door.
