“Not interested!”
Juelz hung up the phone. He had a glum look on his face.
If Credence was a ferocious beast, then Jeremy was a vicious wolf. He could never tell if Jeremy would bite back.
He had worked with Jeremy once before. Although he almost killed Credence, he had placed Dorothy in danger and she was almost r*ped by Hugo, that scumbag.
This time, no matter how badly Jeremy persuaded him, he would never cooperate with such an unprincipled man.
Juelz threw his phone on the bed and walked towards the open window. He lit a cigarette and took a few deep puffs. Suddenly, he heard Dorothy’s gentle voice next door.
“Ow, Credence, be gentle. It hurts!”
Her bewitching voice tunneled into his ears like a nail into his eardrums. In that instant, his head was filled with so much pain.
As a man, Juelz clearly knew what was going on.
“D*mn it! Credence, you must be doing this on purpose.”
Juelz’s pupils were red, and the veins on the back of his hands bulged out angrily. He extinguished the burning cigarette and was about to rush over.
But as soon as he headed into the corridor, he was stopped by Boden and a few men in black.
Boden smiled. “Mr. Sherman, I’m so sorry. You can’t go in for the time being. Mr. Scott is in there, and he is spending time with his wife. He doesn’t want anyone to disturb him, especially you!”
Juelz was livid! He laughed and decided to risk everything. He raised his voice and shouted out loud. “Credence, if you even have a sliver of conscience left, you should not be doing that to Dory while she is pregnant. Don’t you know that she might have a miscarriage?”
“It is very late. Mr. Sherman, if there is anything you’d like to say, I’d suggest you keep it to yourself until tomorrow.”
Boden waved his hands. A few men rushed forward and blocked Juelz’s way.
At this time, in the ward, Credence pulled on Dorothy’s injured hands, and she felt a faint throbbing pain.
She could not help but lose her temper and shouted at him.
She didn’t expect him to just look at her with a faint smile. He slowly raised his eyebrows and continued to carefully bandage her wound.
This time, he was very gentle, and he was careful to not aggravate her wounds.
Once Credence had bandaged her palms, Dorothy was feeling very sleepy. Her eyes were half-closed. She was in a daze, but then immediately opened her eyes when she heard Juelz shouting. She stared at Credence and whispered, “Is Juelz outside? It’s so late, I wonder what he wants, we should let him in.”
Credence frowned slightly and coaxed her calmly. “No one’s outside. You must have heard wrong.”
“Oh.”
Dorothy was so tired that she didn’t have the energy to guess whether he was telling her the truth or not. She listened for a while longer but couldn’t hear anything else. Then, she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
After she had fallen asleep, Credence leaned over and planted a soft kiss on her lips. Then, he straightened his back and walked out.
Boden caught a glimpse of his tall and imposing figure exiting the ward. He immediately opened the door to Juelz’s ward. “Mr. Scott, he’s inside.”
Credence nodded and slowly walked in. He walked towards Juelz and looked at him with his stern and calm eyes. “I am very grateful to you for taking care of my wife. But if you still have any other ideas involving her, then you’ll have to excuse me for putting our friendship aside.”
“Credence, stop threatening me! You keep saying that she’s your wife, but what have you done for her? Have you ever treated her like your wife?”
Juelz could not conceal the anger and hatred on his face and the anger that welled up in his heart further intensified. He could not wait to tear this shameless man in two.
“Credence, you keep doing the same thing. You’d slap her around, then coax her every so sweetly, what’s the point? I hate the fact that Dory doesn’t like me. Otherwise, even if I had to risk my life, I’d do anything to take her away. You will never find her again and you will regret it for the rest of your life!”
Credence didn’t take Juelz’s anger personally. He looked at Juelz with a heavy frown. “What a pity. She loves me, and only me for the rest of her life! Even if you waited for her in your next life, she still wouldn’t love you.”
The man’s casual tone completely ignited the pain, deep within Juelz. His handsome facial features seemed to be breaking down, piece by piece, it flashed with malice and pain. “Credence, don’t be so complacent. Don’t you dare act so smug! One day, I will definitely make you regret it!”
“Great, I’ll be waiting.”
Credence calmly replied then quickly walked out. He calmly stood in the corridor and ordered Boden and the others to guard Dorothy’s 24 hours a day. After that, he stepped into the elevator door, pressed the button for the first floor, and departed.
…
In the ward, Juelz stood stiffly in place, his eyes were bloodshot red. If it weren’t for the fact that picking a fight with Credence right now would badly affect Dorothy’s mood and her unborn child, he wouldn’t have let Credence go so easily.
Boden and his associates were whispering outside the door.
“A man like him dares to compete with Mr. Scott for Mrs. Scott? He thinks too highly of himself.”
“Haha, Mr. Scott is so good-tempered and has such a noble presence. If I had to choose, I would definitely pick Mr. Scott too. Let’s see if he still dares to covet other people’s women!”
“Exactly. Can’t he take a good look at himself in the mirror? Does he really think he’s a good match for Mrs. Scott?”
Their sharp comments were like ice cones piercing into his bones, he was furious. The darkness on his face intensified, and he clenched his fists until his knuckles cracked menacingly.
After a while, he regained his composure, strode over to his bedside, picked up his cell phone, and dialed Jeremy’s number. He spoke through gnashed teeth, “I’ll see you tomorrow at 10 o’clock!”
“Okay, no problem. Looking forward to working with you!”
Jeremy placed his phone down and walked over to the wine cabinet. He took out a bottle of red wine and poured a glass for himself. He looked out of the French designer windows at the boundless darkness and smiled.
A man like him with so much blood on his hands would never have many enemies for long. As long as their interests outweigh everything else, enemies could become friends and vice versa.
As the old saying goes, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
He never had any issues with Melanie in the past. Last time, when he forced Melanie to stab herself, he was just doing that to take revenge for Germaine.
This time, in order to put an end to Credence, he didn’t mind cooperating with Melanie and Juelz.
Now, all he had to do was sit back and watch. He would wait to see how this fierce battle would play out!
Ever since he hurt Germaine by accident, he hadn’t stained his hands with blood for several months. He missed that feeling!
Jeremy raised his head and drank the red wine. An evil smile appeared on his face “Melanie, Juelz, don’t let me down this time!”
