“Credence…”
“Credence!”
When Dorothy saw this, her pupils contracted, as she threw herself towards Credence and screamed loudly.
His eyes were tightly shut, and he didn’t say anything. His fists were still clutched at his chest, as if he still wanted to punch Juelz.
His handsome face was extremely pale, and a sad, painful smile formed on his face.
He was thirty five years old. Perhaps to Jonathan and Marvin, he was a winner at life because he had a wife and daughter, but he was the only one who knew how heavy and anxious his heart was at the thought of such happiness.
Occasionally, he would dream of Dorothy and Belle returning to his side, however, it would only be a sweet dream of his.
Now, his beautiful dream was finally shattered upon seeing Dorothy and Juelz’s passionate kiss. It fully revealed the uneasiness he felt in his heart.
Dorothy and Belle had had a difficult time in Monticello over the past six years, and Juelz had been with them every step of the way. This meant that Dorothy was extremely reliant on him.
Moreover, when Belle was with Juelz, she would keep calling him Daddy Juelz, and she was more relaxed when she was with him as well. She was closer to Juelz than she was to him.
He deserved all of this!
He really owed Dorothy and Belle too much.
Dorothy did not know what Credence was thinking. She stared at him anxiously as he spiraled into the abyss of unconsciousness. Her face turned pale as well, and she cried out, “Credence, what’s wrong?”
“Doctor, doctor, hurry, come and save him!”
On the other hand, Juelz lay on the bed, blood flowing from his mouth. He looked half-dead, and he couldn’t even open his eyes. However, he was still alert, and said lowly, “Dory, open the door and let… let Sontha in.”
He himself was badly injured, and Credence’s attack had only made things take a turn for the worse. He looked much worse than Credence did, but Dorothy only had eyes for Credence. What else was there for Juelz to wonder about?
However, it was because he understood her true feelings that his heart was in immense pain.
He was hurt, and it felt as if a sharp drill had drilled deep into his skin, flesh, and bones. The pain was bone-deep.
Perhaps, it was truly time for him to let go!
Sontha had been accompanying Belle outside the room while listening to the commotion in the room. When he heard Dorothy suddenly cry out for help, his heart sank and he quickly ran into the room.
Just as he ran over, Dorothy opened the door. When she saw him, she anxiously urged, “Mr. Lanes, please get a doctor here quick! Credence fainted, and Juelz isn’t doing too well either.”
Sontha immediately conjured up an image of rivals in love battling it out to the death. His gaze swept over the situation in the room and he quickly took out his phone to call for a doctor.
After a few minutes, several doctors and nurses rushed over, together with Jonathan and Marvin.
The two of them were quick, and they rushed into the ward before anyone else. They pushed Dorothy aside and started getting busy.
When Jonathan saw Credence lying on the floor, he cursed out loud. “Dorothy, what the h*ll happened? Don’t you know that Credence can’t take any aggravation or stimulation now?”
“His brain is especially fragile after the operation, and if he’s overstimulated, his blood vessels may explode, then he’ll truly be dead. You won’t be able to bring him back no matter how much you cry.”
Marvin kicked Jonathan hard. “Shut up, you noisy troublemaker.”
The moment Marvin stepped into the room, he’d appraised the situation.
Juelz was lying on the bed, evidently having received an extreme beating.
Needless to say, Credence was the culprit.
With Credence’s desire and possessiveness over Dorothy, Dorothy really couldn’t be blamed for what had happened.
The bloody scene in the ward was the aftermath of Credence’s jealousy.
He almost killed his rival in love for a woman. This was indeed something that Credence would do.
It was very much like him!
Marvin held back his laughter and shook his head. He kicked Jonathan aside and tried to wake Credence up before the doctors got here.
Dorothy watched them from one side, trembling. When she saw how calm Marvin was, her racing heart started to slow.
“Mommy, why are you crying? Did Daddy bully you? I heard sounds of quarrels just now. There were even sounds of a fight.”
When Dorothy heard Belle talking to her, she quickly raised her head and blinked her tears away. She turned back and saw Sontha leading Belle in. She walked over, thanked him, then led Belle back to the sofa, saying softly, “No, Mommy isn’t crying. Something just got into my eye.”
The doctors were pushing Juelz out of the room and into the operating room next door to attend to his injuries. He was wincing at the pain when he heard Dorothy speak. He widened his eyes in surprise.
His gaze fell on Dorothy’s ashen face and the tears in her eyes.
However, those tears were not for him. It was all for Credence.
When the stretcher rolled past Dorothy, Juelz was still staring at her, his heart wrenching in pain.
Dorothy met his gaze, and she murmured, “Juelz, I’m sorry, I’m sorry!”
Credence was the one who gave Juelz a good beating. Why should she be the one to apologize?
It had to be because, subconsciously, she was one with Credence, and they had to carry one another’s burden.
That was why she was apologising for Credence’s viciousness.
With this thought in mind, Dorothy fell into a daze for a moment.
Belle ran towards Juelz. She pulled on Juelz’s finger and said, “Daddy Juelz, who was the one who beat you up? I’ll get back at them when I grow up.”
Juelz also pulled on her finger, laughing uncontrollably. “Great, I’ll wait for you to grow up.”
Dorothy didn’t know what to say. She forced herself to smile at them, then pulled Belle back.
As Juelz was pushed out of the door by some doctors, Credence was placed on a bed and pushed out as well.
Juelz headed in one direction, and Credence in the other. Without hesitation, Dorothy followed after Credence, with Belle in tow.
Juelz’s gaze was dark. He tried to suppress the bitterness in his eyes and difficultly smiled at Sontha. “Once I’m out of the operation room, transfer me to another hospital.”
“Okay.”
Sontha’s emotions were all mixed up, but he could only let out a sigh.
