His head was wrapped in white gauze, but he didn’t look funny. Instead, he looked imposing.
His cold, terrifying gaze landed on Dorothy’s face, making her heart pound.
In her panic, she abruptly broke free of Juelz’s hold on her head and subconsciously looked at Credence. Her lips trembled, and she said, “Credence, that… what you just saw, I can explain everything.”
“Explain what?”
Credence took the opportunity to close the door tightly.
He stood by the door motionlessly, his expression seemingly calm. However, his cold aura froze the atmosphere in the room, almost making one shudder.
No matter how hard he tried to prevent it from happening, Juelz would always find a way to get to Dorothy. In fact, judging from what he’d just seen, their relationship didn’t seem to be as innocuous as he’d thought. What exactly should he do with this woman?
Two hours ago, he’d been attending to the urgent documents that Benjamin had brought over from the company while waiting for Dorothy to bring Belle back after having breakfast.
However, Dorothy and Belle did not come back to the ward even though he had waited for a long, long time. He suddenly felt nervous.
They only went out for breakfast. What took them so long?
Credence called Dorothy, but she didn’t have her phone with her. It buzzed on the coffee table.
In that instant, Credence was sure that Dorothy had brought Belle to visit Juelz.
Belle had been kidnapped by thugs that Rosalie had brought from Eastland, and Juelz had put his life on the line to buy time for Credence to save her.
For this, he’d been thankful to Juelz.
He noticed that Juelz’s ribs were broken, and he was completely covered in wounds. He was on the brink of death.
At that time, Credence took into consideration the fact that one of the most famous surgeons was in this remote hospital, and he would help a lot with Juelz’s recovery. Hence, he’d asked Marvin to arrange for Juelz to be sent here as soon as possible, to the same hospital as Belle and Germaine.
In order to prevent Juelz from getting to Dorothy, he’d placed Juelz in the most remote building possible, with no elevators available so it’d be hard for him to move around. He’d also arranged for a large number of bodyguards to patrol around the building that Dorothy spent most of her time at, so that nobody could come into contact with her.
Juelz was a man who was slowly growing into a formidable rival in love, thus Credence could not be as dismissive of him as he had been in the past.
There were plenty of times where he thought that if he did not win Dorothy’s heart earlier, Juelz would definitely replace him and be Dorothy’s lover.
This man could almost be regarded as his opponent now, and he had loved Dorothy for plenty of years. He had never left her side, too. He was by no means inferior to him.
In order to completely win Dorothy’s heart, he had to selfishly and forcibly force her to choose him instead and give up on Juelz.
Although Credence had long since accepted that Juelz would always be Dorothy’s closest male friend, his blood still boiled at the sight of Belle reading happily outside while Juelz and Dorothy were sharing a passionate kiss.
It aggravated his head injury, and pain shot through him. He suddenly felt like he was the outsider in this situation.
“Explain about what you just saw.”
Dorothy forced herself to answer Credence’s question. He remained by the door, seemingly unbothered by Juelz kissing her.
However, the more indifferent he looked, the more nervous Dorothy got. Her voice trembled as she said, “Credence, let’s talk about this outside.”
“Why? Can’t we talk about it here?”
“Tell me about it right here, right now.”
Credence narrowed his eyes and slowly unbuttoned his suit jacket and shirtsleeves. He rolled his shirtsleeves up to his elbows, looking extremely elegant and charismatic.
Dorothy did not know what to do. She could only stare at him in a daze. She really didn’t know what to do.
What happened next was like a scene straight out of a film. It happened so fast that Dorothy could not react to it at all.
She felt like a gust of cold wind had blown past her to Juelz, and punches landed on his face.
Credence was filled with rage and ruthlessness. His punches didn’t land anywhere else aside from Juelz’s face.
He kept punching until Juelz didn’t even have the strength to fight back. His lip split, and blood started oozing out…
Dorothy shouted in a panic, “Stop! Credence, stop! Are you only going to be happy once Juelz is dead?”
She didn’t know which part of her sentence had aggravated Credence, but his punches became even more forceful. Another punch landed right on Juelz’s mouth.
“Ouch!”
Juelz let out a muffled moan, blood flowing from his nose. Dorothy panicked and tried to pull Credence’s hand away. She hadn’t expected that a forced kiss would push Credence over the edge.
If anything were to happen between her and Juelz, it would have happened a long time ago! There was no need to wait till now.
What Dorothy did not know was when a possessive man saw his woman being forcefully kissed by another man, they would be filled with immense jealousy and hatred.
Credence ignored Dorothy’s weak attempt at pulling him away, but controlled his strength to avoid hurting her.
Juelz was already badly injured in the first place, and Credence’s beating left him on the brink of death. He didn’t even have the strength to open his eyes, and just shook his head, saying weakly, “Dory, leave him be. You don’t know how happy I am right now.”
D*mn it, if Credence had the guts to kill him right here and now, then so be it. If not, once he was fully recovered, he definitely wouldn’t allow Credence to have Dorothy so easily.
Even if he couldn’t snatch Dorothy away, he still wanted to repulse Credence a few more times so that this b*stard would learn to cherish Dorothy.
Outside, Belle pounded on the door. “Mommy, Daddy, and Daddy Juelz, what are you guys doing in there? You’re being too noisy. I can’t even read my comics.”
Sontha stood behind her, his eyes flashing. His expression was contemplative, but he didn’t say anything.
Naturally, he knew what was going on inside. However, to him, it was a good idea for Juelz to suffer some pain. At least it would make Dorothy more worried about him.
This was completely beneficial for Juelz.
Therefore, Sontha chose to watch from the sidelines.
In the room, Dorothy didn’t know what to say to Belle, and she stammered, “Belle, be a good girl. We’re discussing something, so you go back to reading your comics. Once we’re done, I’ll bring you to play with Mummy Germaine.”
When Credence heard this, he frowned, then slowly lowered his raised hand. His gaze landed on Dorothy’s swollen lips, and a trace of sharp pain flashed in his eyes.
He narrowed his eyes. His handsome features were dark.
His brain couldn’t help replaying the scene of Dorothy and Juelz’s lips locked together.
Dorothy claimed that she only thought of Juelz as her brother, and she definitely didn’t love him that way, but wasn’t she the woman who was bent over him with her lips pressed to his?
Did she still love him?
Just how much of their love was real? How much of it was fake?
At this moment, he didn’t want to lie to himself, but it seemed that he didn’t have a choice.
There was no other reason for that.
It was because, starting from a long time ago, he had given his heart to this woman. He could not retrieve it, nor did he want it back.
Apart from her, there was no other woman in this world who could make him feel obsessed over.
Maybe this was his retribution.
Six years ago, he’d broken her heart. Six years later, on this day, she was the one causing him unbearable pain.
“Dorothy, you were being intimate with a man other than your husband behind your husband’s back. Is this the type of role model you want to set for your daughter? Don’t forget that you’re my wife!”
Perhaps it was because he was overly aggravated. After roaring that out hoarsely, Credence’s face turned ghostly pale.
He suddenly felt like he couldn’t breathe, and all his blood rushed to his head. Not only did he suddenly feel weak, even his ears were ringing.
His vision suddenly turned blank and blurry.
He’d just recently gone through a brain surgery, and he was still too weak to withstand such a strong impact.
Credence abruptly closed his eyes, the veins at his temple bulging. Sweat beaded on his forehead, and he slowly collapsed backward!
