“What else do you expect?”
Dorothy thought that Jeremy was being ridiculous. She looked at him coldly, then let out a snort. “Look at what you’ve done to Germaine. Do you expect her to be grateful to you?”
“F*ck off! You don’t have the right to interfere with things between us.”
Jeremy’s eyes were frosty. He glared at Dorothy, and he was annoyed by how meddling she was.
If it weren’t for the fact that Germaine would hate him more if he got rid of Dorothy, he would’ve already gotten Wilson to dump her in a river somewhere.
At Jeremy’s viciousness, Dorothy subconsciously blocked Germaine from his sight. She glared back at him fearlessly. “Mr. Sherman, Germaine’s already half-dead from your torment. I can’t give her to you, or else you’ll probably finish the deed this time.”
“Miss Fisher, don’t f*cking talk nonsense. Mind your own business, and stop sticking your nose into my boss’ and Miss Germaine’s matters.”
Wilson stood to one side. When he saw how such a frail woman had just shot his boss down like that, his anger surged. He shot up to Dorothy and waved his fists around, his teeth gritted. “Watch your mouth, or I’ll send my men to get rid of your daughter and your mother!”
What the h*ll was he talking about?
Dorothy couldn’t help looking at Wilson in confusion. Then, she heard Germaine softly say from behind her, “Dory, he means that he’s going to kill your mother.”
Err…
Dorothy finally got what he meant. Earlier, Credence had said that he’d found her biological mother, and it was some unimportant actress, called Leilani or something.
Though Leilani was her mother in blood, Dorothy had never even met her, let alone spoken to her.
Was he idiotic enough to threaten her with someone that was completely meaningless?
Dorothy couldn’t help laughing. She ignored Wilson, then turned to sneer at Jeremy. “Mr. Sherman, let’s not go off topic. Don’t bring irrelevant people into this.”
“She’s not completely irrelevant.”
Something seemed to occur to Jeremy. He raised an eyebrow maliciously, and narrowed his eyes. At first glance, he even looked a little similar to Dorothy.
He said slowly, “Leilani Chilton is my mother’s twin sister! Do you still think we’re unrelated now?”
With that, both Dorothy and Germaine were shocked.
After a long while, Germaine said in astonishment, “Dory, you’re actually cousins with him. How is this possible?”
If it weren’t for the damage she’d suffered both physically and mentally, Germaine would’ve been swearing up and down by now.
“Mr. Sherman, if what you’re saying is true, then I’m truly ashamed to have a relative like you.”
Dorothy was shocked, but she kept her face calm.
She just smiled faintly and continued, “I don’t think someone like you, who sent someone to kill Juelz and almost killed Germaine, would take family and friends into consideration when doing anything.”
“If you still had even a shred of conscience left in you, you’d let Germaine go and let me take her away.”
“Jeremy, can’t you see it? All of Germaine’s love for you has changed into fear.”
“Are you going to drive her insane or force her into depression before you’re willing to let her go?”
Jeremy frowned and looked at Dorothy, a vicious smile on his face. “Dorothy, who gave you the right to act so high-and-mighty in front of me? You’re just forcing me to get rid of you right now, b*tch!”
His every word was filled with endless viciousness and cruelty, and it made one shudder.
Before Dorothy could retort, Germaine started to tremble again. Her heart raced, almost to the point of bursting through her chest. The overflowing blood filled her chest, and she started to suffocate. Her eyes became bloodshot as well.
She held her head tightly in her hands and said, “Jeremy, don’t come here, don’t kill Dory. Don’t kill me!”
Dorothy looked into Germaine’s eyes. They were unfocused, and she looked like her soul had been sucked out of her body. Her heart twisted, and she bent down to hold Germaine’s hands tightly. She consoled her in a low voice, saying, “Germaine, don’t be afraid. I’m here, and Benjamin’s here as well. We won’t let anybody harm you.”
Germaine laid on the bed, the white sheet wrapped around her frail body. Under the bright, white lights, her ashen face looked even more bloodless, and she looked like a corpse.
She stared at the ceiling for a long time, before saying lowly, “Dory, please take me away.”
It was obvious that Germaine still rejected Jeremy from the bottom of her heart.
“Alright, alright, I will take you away right now.”
A bitter taste filled Dorothy’s throat. She ignored Jeremy’s cold and malicious eyes as she motioned for Benjamin to help her push Germaine away.
“F*ck, what are you two trying to do? Our boss said that you can’t take Miss Germaine away, but you’re still trying to. Is it that hard to understand?”
Wilson saw that Jeremy looked murderous. He cursed loudly, then ran up to block Dorothy’s way with a few men in tow.
However, Dorothy and Benjamin still insisted on taking her away, thus they were at a stalemate.
At this moment, the elevator doors opened with a ding, and a handsome man walked out. His aura was ice-cold, and his dark eyes narrowed at the sight in front of him. “Mr. Sherman, do you have something against my wife?”
Credence’s aura was imposing. He faced Jeremy alone, but it was as if he had thousands of men with him.
At the familiar voice, Dorothy whipped her head around in surprise and saw Credence standing behind her. When he caught her looking at him, his cold gaze immediately melted and he smiled at her. “Belle’s already been sent back to the hospital, and I’ve arrange for two groups of bodyguards to watch her round the clock. I came to pick you up since it’s been a while.”
With him by her side, Dorothy’s confidence was boosted. She held her head up high and said forcefully, “Credence, I’m going to take Germaine away from here, but someone won’t let me. What do you think I should do?”
At this, Credence’s gaze swept over Jeremy, and his expression immediately turned cold again. “Mr. Sherman, can you still be considered a man for getting women involved in a man’s war? Come at me with everything you’ve got!”
