The doctor repeated her words. Dorothy clenched her fists and looked at the doctor disbelievingly.
“Are you saying that I… I’m pregnant? Am I really pregnant?”
“Miss Fisher, I’ve seen your test results, and I did another simple test just now. It’s likely that you really are pregnant. You’re still in the very early stages, maybe about a week or so. If you want to know for sure, you can get an ultrasound done.”
“Thank you, doctor, thank you. I understand.” Dorothy was almost incoherent in her agitation.
The news of her pregnancy reverberated in her mind. She sat on the bed in a daze, seemingly overwhelmed with joy.
If she truly were pregnant, that meant that they could extract blood from the umbilical cord to save Belle.
Dorothy had heard that when she was about twenty weeks pregnant, they could extract the blood to see whether it was a match with Belle’s. The likeliness was about 90%.
As for the latter 10% of failure, Dorothy chose to ignore it.
However, sometimes, a lot of things were beyond her expectations.
At this moment, Dorothy was immersed in ecstasy, and she didn’t even notice the doctors leaving.
Juelz held steaming food in one hand, and had Belle’s hand in the other day. The moment he stepped into the room, he saw Dorothy leaning against the bed in a daze. She even seemed to be trembling.
Juelz was worried that Dorothy was suffering from some side-effects, thus he quickly rushed to the bed and looked at her worriedly. “Dory, are you all right?”
He had only left for a little while, but why did it look like she was already in a daze?
Belle was very happy to see her mother, who she hadn’t seen in a few days. She quickly ran over and held her legs, rubbing her fuzzy head against Dorothy’s stomach. “Mommy, where did you go? I missed you so much.”
“Good girl, Belle. Mommy missed you too.”
Dorothy regained her senses after hearing her daughter’s sweet voice. She lowered her head and kissed her on the cheek apologetically. She slowly raised her head and looked at Juelz with an irrepressible smile. “Juelz, the doctor told me that I am pregnant.”
After that, she caressed Belle’s head gently. “My darling Belle is finally saved.”
Juelz’s tall figure wavered, and he turned to look at Dorothy’s ecstatic face. His breath hitched, and he felt like he was going to suffocate.
After taking a deep breath and calming himself down, he turned around and walked over to the tea table. He took out the nutritious soup and bread that he’d gotten for Dorothy and lowered his head to conceal his pain and suffering.
He quickly poured the soup into a bowl and passed it to Dorothy, a sincere smile on his face. “Dory, congratulations, you’ve finally gotten what you wished for. From now on, Belle’s going to have another brother or sister to accompany her.”
Dorothy took the aromatic soup from him and nodded in gratitude. “Thank you, Juelz!”
Belle looked at her mother, then at Juelz. She blinked, then reached out to touch Dorothy’s abdomen. “Mommy, do you really have a brother or sister in here?”
“Yes, I do.”
Dorothy’s stomach was already rumbling from hunger, and she drank a few spoonfuls of the soup, instantly feeling revived. She even had the strength to tease Belle, saying cheekily, “Belle, do you want a brother or a sister?”
“Mommy, I want a brother! Germaine said that if I have a brother, then I’ll be a big girl with a follower by the time I go to school!”
After touching Dorothy’s stomach for a while, Belle suddenly gasped in surprise. “Mommy, I saw that other people’s mommies have huge bellies, and they’re as round as watermelons. Why is yours so small? Daddy’s really useless.”
Dorothy’s hand quivered. She looked at Belle’s innocent face, a barrage of emotions washing over her.
Just what had Germaine taught Belle while she wasn’t around?
Because of her daughter’s interruption, Dorothy’s worry about Credence lessened by a little.
She knew better than anybody else just how strong-willed he was.
Since he was promptly sent to Jonathan’s hospital, he probably wasn’t in too much danger.
Seeing that Dorothy was completely lost in her thoughts and was oblivious to his presence, he smiled self-deprecatingly and walked out of the ward. He headed towards the end of the corridor and lit a cigarette.
After making his way through half a box of cigarettes, Juelz called his assistant. “Transfer all of the Scott Group shares that I bought over the past few days to Dorothy. Yes, it’s exactly what you think. I don’t want a single cent, just transfer everything to her! Do it right now.”
On the other end of the line, Juelz’s assistant was dumbfounded. When he came back to his senses, he understood what Juelz meant and quickly promised to get everything done as soon as possible.
After so many years, he’d gotten a grasp of just how deep Juelz’s feelings for Dorothy ran. Juelz wouldn’t even blink an eye at giving J&D Group to Dorothy, let alone mere shares of Scott Group.
After hanging up, Juelz made another call.
The other party seemed to be busy with something, as the phone rang for close to ten seconds before it was picked up. A lazy voice came through, sneering, “You actually have the time to call me? I would’ve thought that you’d be busy trying to get rid of Credence so you could get his woman.”
“Cut your f*cking nonsense.”
Juelz got angry the moment he heard Jeremy’s voice. His Adam’s apple rolled as he yelled, “You’re a f*cking liar, that’s what you are! I asked you to just lock Dorothy up, but what did you do? You handed her over to Hugo, and caused her to almost get gangr*ped by a bunch of thugs.”
“I could’ve proudly said that I’ve lived a magnanimous life, but you’ve ruined everything, including my image in Dorothy’s heart.”
“Jeremy, you’re not the king of the world, you know. I really regret working with you.”
“Let me make things clear. From now on, I won’t participate in any of your plans that will directly harm Dory or even indirectly harm Credence!”
“Oh, you’re regretting it just over something like this?” Jeremy sneered. “Judging from your tone, are you planning on working against me instead?”
Juelz clenched his phone and narrowed his eyes ruthlessly. He sneered back, “Yes, you’re right. I’m going to start my counter-attack soon, so go to f*cking hell, Jeremy!”
Juelz’s tone became extremely harsh at the end of his sentence, and he was gnashing his teeth so hard he could crush them.
