Chapter 295 Because I Love You!

Book:My Husband Hates Me Published:2024-5-1

Juelz?
Why was he here?
Even Marvin, a special force soldier, had yet to arrive. How did Juelz get to know where she was?
Dorothy lifted her heavy head, her eyes wide with shock. She watched as the man who caused Credence to end up like this run towards her.
Juelz leapt from the steep hillside and landed on the soft beach. He quickly pushed himself up and ran towards Dorothy.
As he ran, he shouted anxiously, “Dory, don’t be afraid, I’m coming!”
After a few minutes, Juelz reached Dorothy and removed his backpack, which was stuffed full of drinking water and bread. He emptied it at Dorothy’s feet and gazed at her pale, haggard face, his eyes filled with guilt and regret. “Dory, I’m sorry for being late!”
He wanted to tell Dorothy that he was sorry. He hadn’t known that things would end up like this.
If he’d known about Jeremy’s wild ambition, that he’d hand Dorothy over to a scumbag like Hugo, he would’ve died before agreeing to work with Jeremy. He definitely wouldn’t have allowed Dorothy to go through something like that.
As she looked into Jeremy’s sincere, apologetic eyes, Dorothy reminded herself that there were more pressing matters at hand and forced herself to forget about all the terrible things that had happened. She shook her head and said, “Juelz, let’s forget about all that for now. I need you to help me get Credence to the hospital now, okay?”
It had been more than twenty hours since Dorothy had last consumed anything, and she was parched and starving. Adding to that the fact that she’d been kneeling on hard, dry rocks under the scorching sun, she felt like she was going to pass out any moment.
However, for Credence’s safety, she had to stay conscious.
Juelz happened to hear from a friend that Hugo was in the hands of the police, and he’d quickly gotten to know that Hugo had dumped Dorothy at the slums after tormenting him a little.
Upon hearing this, Juelz was infuriated and pounced on Hugo, beating him to a pulp.
How the f*ck could he send a weak, beautiful woman like Dorothy to the slums, where thugs roamed? Would she even be able to make it out alive?
In that instant, Juelz hated himself to the core.
He’d thought that he could win Dorothy’s heart from Credence by coming up with such a plan, but he hadn’t expected that he’d send Dorothy onto a path of despair instead.
It was his unwillingness to accept defeat, his jealousy and envy that had harmed the woman he loved most.
Following that, with deep-rooted remorse and hatred for himself, Juelz used his wealth and connections to find and reach the slums. He didn’t have time to waste in rescuing her.
It did not matter whether he needed to use any extreme means!
Halfway through his search, Juelz ran into a group of policemen and heard from them that Credence and Dorothy had fallen into the ocean. Their lives were at risk…
At that moment, Juelz heart sank.
He didn’t care about Credence’s life or death.
However, Dorothy’s safety mattered very much to him.
If all his scheming and planning had only led to Dorothy’s death, then what was the point?
Juelz was filled with unspeakable shame and guilt. He led the whole team to search through the entire coastline.
He didn’t dare blink, and he didn’t dare to relax for even a second. He was afraid that the moment he relaxed, he’d lose Dorothy forever.
When the sun hung high above their heads, he finally found Dorothy.
However, when faced with Dorothy’s clear gaze that didn’t carry a single trace of blame, Juelz was extremely embarrassed and regretful. He subconsciously avoided her gaze and focused on her dry, parched lips.
“Dory, have some water and food first. I’ll arrange for Credence’s rescue immediately.”
“There’s no time to eat and drink. Juelz, please arrange everything now, please? I want to see you send him to the hospital before I can eat.”
Dorothy stared at Juelz urgently, her gaze steady. However, her trembling hands betrayed her anxiety.
If this were the old Juelz, she was absolutely sure that he wouldn’t do anything to harm Credence.
However, he’d already plotted against them once. Though she’d said that they could leave the past behind, she couldn’t help being wary of Juelz.
Trust was the same as love. It couldn’t afford to be squandered.
Certain things were slowly, silently changing.
Juelz had been in love with Dorothy for close to eighteen years. It only took him a single glance to know what she was thinking. A barrage of emotions flashed in his eyes as he detected the wariness in her eyes and he smiled bitterly. He patted Dorothy on the shoulder and said, “Dory, what are you thinking about? I might not be a good person, but I wouldn’t stoop to the level of harming a rival when he can’t fight back!”
At that, Dorothy heaved a sigh of relief and tucked her hair behind her ear.
“Juelz, no matter what, I still have to thank you.”
“I’m not doing all this for your gratitude.”
Juelz leapt to his feet like he was stung by a wasp, and held Dorothy in his arms, flames burning in his eyes. “Dory, don’t you get it? I plotted against you because I love you. I hated that Credence could get your love once again without even lifting a finger.”
“Now, I’m willing to save Credence’s life, also because I love you.”
“Because I know very well that if anything happens to Credence, you will seal off your heart for the rest of your life, and you won’t open it up anymore, not even to me.”
“Dory, you’re the only woman I’ve ever loved. But why have you never given me a chance?”
“Juelz, calm down! Credence is lying right here, and I don’t even know whether he’s alive or dead. I can’t think straight, and I don’t want to talk about these things right now. Just please tell me what you want me to do before you’re willing to get Credence to hospital!”
Without a trace of hesitation, Dorothy broke free of Juelz’s embrace and stepped back towards Credence.
Perhaps, she had used too much strength to break free. In that instant, her head spun and her ears were abuzz. She blacked out and fell backwards.
She thought that something was wrong with her vision.
She saw a black car coming from a hillside not far away from them.
A man got out of the car. From the looks of it, he was an older man, and his face…
Well, he was quite far from them, thus Dorothy could not see him clearly.
With a distance of about 100 meters between them, Dorothy saw the man suddenly smile eerily at her before getting back into the car and leaving.
Dorothy moved her lips weakly to tell Juelz about it, but she passed out completely before she could say anything.
“Dory!”
Juelz’s sorrowful cry shook the entire sea.
