Huge waves continued to crash over them, dragging Dorothy and Credence even deeper into the ocean.
Dorothy watched as Credence’s face turned paler and colder, and his breathing became more labored. She tried to wriggle out of his arms. “Credence, let me go and stay alert or you’ll die right here!”
“Dorothy, I can’t let you go. I’m afraid that I’ll lose you forever if I do.”
Credence lowered his head and gave her a tender kiss on her smooth forehead.
He was rapidly losing his strength as more and more blood flowed out from his back due to the wounds caused by the sharp rocks. He himself did not know how long he could last.
They were in the middle of the ocean, and he used the remaining shreds of his consciousness to stay alert.
He was worried that if he didn’t protect Dorothy, she would be washed away by the waves and disappear in the ocean forever.
By that time, none of them would be able to come back alive from the cold sea.
Credence’s head was getting heavier. He kept himself conscious through sheer willpower as he tried to bring Dorothy towards land.
Every time he used his arms, he could feel injuries all over his body being pulled against. It was as if every inch of his bones had been crushed by the rocks.
Even with Credence’s tough endurance, he could not hold on any longer.
At this moment, he was unbelievably glad that he’d jumped after Dorothy. At least he could protect her from the waves and rocks.
In the past, he’d been the one to bring her endless pain and torture. Now, he’d be the one to protect her from all hardships.
He was willing to do anything for her, even if it meant sacrificing his own life!
With the help of the moonlight, Credence could see that they were getting closer to land. He started to feel less anxious.
As he calmed down, his willpower slowly started to reach its limits.
He tightened his arm around Dorothy’s waist and looked down at her gentle, beautiful face. His gaze was tender.
“Dorothy, keep talking to me.”
His strength was waning, and his arms were as heavy as if he were carrying a thousand-pound burden. He almost couldn’t lift them up.
However, they had yet to get out of danger. He couldn’t give up halfway, and he couldn’t close his eyes.
Credence was worried that if he really closed his eyes, he wouldn’t be able to wake up anymore, and she’d be left alone to float in the boundless ocean. She’d end up losing her life as well.
Therefore, he wanted Dorothy to keep talking to him.
This was to prevent him from tiring too quickly and closing his eyes.
At the same time, Dorothy could feel that Credence’s arm around her waist was starting to loosen. They were in the middle of the ocean, and he had to swim towards land with the added burden of someone who didn’t know how to swim. Finally, he could no longer hold out…
Despite that, he didn’t let her go for even a second.
Dorothy didn’t try to break away from Credence’s hold. As he used the last of his strength to push her towards the shallow waters while he himself started to sink, Dorothy quickly grabbed hold of him and tried to pull him forward while holding back her tears.
When she saw that the water around them was being dyed red because of Credence’s blood, she gritted her teeth and dived into the water, putting her lips close to Credence’s ear. She hoarsely choked out, “Credence, wake up, please!”
“If you abandon me like this, I’ll die with you! I won’t bother about myself or Belle, and I’ll die with you! I mean what I say!”
Credence was still somewhat conscious. When he heard Dorothy saying that she’d die with him, he couldn’t help smiling despite the blood flowing out from his mouth. “I knew you were worthy of my love!”
“Credence, we’ve just only worked through our misunderstanding, and Belle is waiting for us to give her a sister or brother to save her life. Things will only get better for us from here on out. How can you be willing to just leave us behind like this?”
“You know what, I’m not going to die with you anymore! If you die, I’ll immediately marry Juelz and bring Belle with me. I’ll marry any man that has feelings for me.”
“Credence, I’ll let you be cuckolded time and time again so that you won’t even be able to rest in peace.”
As she spoke, she had a faint smile on her lips. She wanted to p*ss Credence off so that he’d feel the need to survive.
However, as she watched more and more blood flow from his mouth, her heart was filled with sorrow, almost overwhelming her.
“You wish to marry Juelz? Over my dead body!”
Credence’s throat was filled with the metallic taste of blood. He felt like he was completely drained of blood, but when he heard Dorothy say that she was going to marry Juelz or any other man, he felt like the blood was pounding in his ears.
He hadn’t even died yet, but she was already thinking of searching for a new lover. She really deserved a good f*cking!
“Then why’d you push me away and choose to die on your own?”
Dorothy was enraged and glared at Credence. Some of his strength seemed to return to him, and he started pulling her out of the water. She breathed a sigh of relief and said, “Credence, you secretly registered our marriage, didn’t you? From now on, I belong to you, and only you.”
“Tonight, we either live together, or we die together. Don’t even think about leaving me behind.”
Her every word was strong and firm. It reverberated in Credence’s ears like the beating of a drum.
Even though his blood and strength were leaving him, he slowly regained his strength.
Credence gazed into her beautiful eyes and slowly smiled. “Fine, we’ll live and die together!”
Once again, he wrapped his arm around Dorothy’s waist and tried his best to swim forward.
He didn’t know how long he swam. All he knew was that each and every cell of his body was screaming in pain.
His arms were completely numb with pain.
However, he chanted to himself that he had to get both himself and Dorothy back to Talco City alive.
Their lives together were just starting, and he wanted them to stay together till they were both old and grey.
Soon, based on his instincts and boosted by the waves, Credence led Dorothy to a spot that was only waist high. His tightly-wrought heart finally relaxed and he fell backwards. He closed his eyes and mumbled, “Dorothy, we’re here. I finally got us to some land, so don’t be afraid!”
He was as tender as could be.
The next second, Credence tumbled sideways into the water, blood spurting out of his mouth and onto Dorothy’s face. It burned her.
Dorothy blinked slowly, and tears flowed down her face, landing on Credence’s pale lips.
She abruptly crouched down and pulled on Credence’s arm, dragging him onto the beach. She reached out her other hand and put it under his nose to see whether he was still breathing.
Fortunately, there were still small wisps of air, which were faintly discernible.
It was so faint that it seemed his breath would be swept away by the strong sea breeze if he wasn’t careful.
Dorothy trembled in fear and bit on her lips hard. She warned herself to stay calm.
Because Credence’s survival depended on her.
However, his entire body was soaked with blood. If she moved him, it would probably only make the blood flow faster.
If he was drained of blood, then that’d truly be the end of him.
She did not have anything by her side. What could she do, what should she do?
She started yelling.
“Someone, please help me!”
In her desperation, Dorothy shrieked at the moon, her voice hoarse.
She suddenly heard a rustling coming from Credence’s body.
She quickly knelt down beside him and tore open his clothes. She searched all over his body and finally found a small, black object on his shirt cuff.
In that instant, Dorothy was ecstatic.
For her, this was the feeling of going from hell to heaven!
She quickly picked the object up and stuffed it into her ear. Then, she heard the voice of an angel.
It was Marvin’s serious voice, and it kept calling out to him.
“Credence, what’s the situation like? Did you save your woman?”
