Credence’s heart seemed to have been crushed by a big hand. His blood vessels were bulging, and a bone-piercing pain could be felt.
He lowered his gaze and stared at his phone as a cold and automatic voice replied repeatedly. “The number you have dialed is unavailable, please try again later.”
Jonathan had also mentioned in the call, that Dorothy’s phone had been turned off since four hours ago.
Apart from calling him that early morning, Dorothy had not accepted any calls nor called anyone since then during this time.
The next second, Jonathan sent all the surveillance footage he received to Credence’s WhatsApp.
Credence frowned as he went through the footage carefully.
The quality of the footage was good; most of it was from the hospital. It showed Dorothy taking good care of their daughter, and everything seemed fine.
At about half past seven in the morning, Belle was still asleep. She pressed a button to call for a nurse and asked the nurse to help look after her daughter. After that, she picked up her bag and phone and exited the ward.
Throughout her journey, she seemed calm, apart from the small touches of worry that showed on her face from time to time.
Credence knew all too well that her worries were for him; she knew that his company had been dragged into a scandal involving over twenty deaths.
After that was the surveillance footage from outside of the neighborhood. It captured the last place where Dorothy was seen.
When she entered a supermarket, she carried a grey shopping basket instead of a cart and bought some fruit, milk, and other supplies.
She was carrying two plastic bags when suddenly, she turned her head to one side. He didn’t know what she saw, but she walked in the opposite direction of the hospital instead of heading back.
That place happened to be a blind spot. Apart from darkness, nothing else could be seen.
Credence clutched his phone tightly and veins popped out of his arms. He suddenly recalled Jeremy’s fearless expression and words. He was certain that he was involved in Dorothy’s sudden disappearance.
He smashed his fists fiercely onto the snowy white wall then dashed back into the conference room. A sharp and cold wind blew as he walked.
Benjamin had already finished reporting the quarterly financial reports. Jeremy smiled maliciously, but just as he was about to mock the Scott Group’s profits, he suddenly heard a loud bang from the door. He pursed his lips tightly and turned to look in the direction.
A figure rushed towards him as fast as lightning. With that, a gust of bone-chilling wind blew at Jeremy.
Jeremy remained nonchalant and indifferent, but there was a hint of unfathomable ruthlessness in his face. He chuckled and said, “Mr. Scott, I still stand by my words. If you kneel and beg me, I might tell you about Dorothy’s whereabouts if I am happy.
Or, you can transfer 47% of the Scott Group’s shares to me and let me be the biggest shareholder. I wouldn’t mind helping you find Dorothy after that as well.
There is a saying that a woman and a company are both of great value. However, you can only choose one!”
“Tsk, tsk, don’t f*cking look at me with those menacing eyes. To tell you the truth, I did not send people to do anything to Dorothy, someone else did.”
Before Credence said anything, the other old shareholders were whispering to each other, refusing to transfer their shares to Jeremy.
Although these old shareholders had never officially dealt business with Jeremy, they could tell what kind of person he was.
From his appearance alone, they could already tell that he was a moody and ruthless person.
As Yezoo’s adopted son, not only did he make the originally healthy Gordan terminally disabled, he even destroyed the whole Sherman family and exclusively ruled its business. He even kicked every shareholder who was rightfully from the Sherman family out and brought his trusted followers in.
These old men wouldn’t be able to live well if such a two-faced, ruthless person became the biggest shareholder of the Scott Group.
Although Credence was domineering, there was a limit to everything. He would give them the generous bonus they deserved every year, not one penny less.
“Mr. Scott, I object to this! You can’t give up the position of the biggest shareholder just for a woman.”
“I disagree too.”
“Me too, I disagree.”
No one would be so stupid as to give away money to other people in front of interests.
Rosalie was the only woman there, and she relaxed as she smiled cheerfully. “I vote for Mr. Sherman.”
After that, she looked at the man whom she loved and hated. She smiled softly and said, “Credence, if you truly love my sister, this small amount of shares wouldn’t mean anything to you, would it?”
Credence was so disgusted with Rosalie that he didn’t even care to glance at her. His cold face was full of an unfathomable expression, and a cold smile played on his lips. “Jeremy, are you sure you want to do this? If I expose the truth behind Dorothy’s kidnapping as well as your dirty deeds to Germaine, do you think she will still take you seriously?”
Credence narrowed his eyes and continued with a sneer, “Although I don’t have a lot of contact with Germaine, I know that she has a strong temperament. When she finds out that you are a treacherous person, your end will be near.”
Jeremy had to admit, Credence’s words hit him right where it hurt.
Germaine was his greatest weakness.
Jeremy knew the exact pain of being despised by the woman he loved. It felt like a dagger slicing his flesh open, one slice after the other.
Blood would flow out of him profusely, and the pain would be unbearable!
That was the only reason why he was trying his best to push Germaine away from him.
If he wanted to be invincible and invulnerable, then he could not have any weaknesses, and he could not selfishly let her stay by his side.
He had to carry all of his burden on his own.
All he wanted was for her to be happy every day!
“Mr. Scott, you are so eloquent. I was almost convinced by your words.”
Jeremy stared at Credence gloomily as he gently applauded, but his tone was nonchalant. “As I have said before, your woman’s disappearance has nothing to do with me. I just happen to know a little bit of the inside story.
But if you reveal everything to Germaine, I won’t be able to guarantee Dorothy’s safety.”
Dorothy’s safety was exactly what Credence was worried about.
Otherwise, he would have already kicked these two out of the conference room.
Credence stared at Jeremy coldly and stated, “I can immediately transfer 47% of shares to you, but you must ensure Dorothy’s safety.”
Jeremy laughed slowly and said in a half-serious manner, “If I wanted one of your arms, would you give it to me too?”
Money was not enough to satisfy him. He even wanted an arm?
He really was here for f*cking revenge!
For a moment, everyone’s gaze was focused on Credence and Jeremy.
The conference room was deathly silent, and the tension was so great that people found it extremely hard to breathe…
