“Mr. Scott, you can’t agree to that.”
Benjamin hurriedly rushed up, interrupting the confrontation between these two men.
Money was an easy thing to settle, they could just give it to him.
However, an arm?
What the f*ck, this b*stard was here for Mr. Scott’s life, wasn’t he?!
Benjamin wanted nothing more than to shoot Jeremy in his cunning face.
At most, he would trade a life for a life, taking it as a way to repay Mr. Scott’s kindness.
Credence glanced at Benjamin and motioned for him to step aside. He then turned to stare at Jeremy with bone-chilling eyes. “Mr. Sherman, you would be better off if you weren’t so greedy.”
“What? Didn’t you claim that you love Dorothy? Are you not willing to give up an arm for true love?”
Jeremy sneered, his words harsh and cold. “Mr. Scott, it seems that your love for Dorothy isn’t as deep as you thought!”
He was only willing to give up his wealth, but not his life. There was all there is.
On the other hand, Rosalie was fuming. Hatred and fury surged up in her heart.
Credence was willing to give away a whopping 47% of shares to that man just for that b*tch without hesitation.
What now?
Was he really going to give Jeremy his arm?
Rosalie suppressed her jealousy and hatred. She gazed at Credence’s reserved and indifferent face, stood up with tears in her eyes, and said seductively. “Credence, you have poured your blood, sweat, and tears into Scott Group for years, are you really going to give it up to Mr. Sherman just like that? If you really hand the shares over to him, then he will be the biggest shareholder of the company. By then, you wouldn’t be able to remain the president of the company.”
What she did not know was that Credence had already secretly transferred nearly 30% of his shares to Dorothy.
As of now, Credence had less than 45% of shares. He would need to borrow some of Benjamin’s shares to make it.
However, at this moment, he did not look at Rosalie, nor did he even want to talk to her.
To him, Rosalie was nothing. However, Credence was somewhat wary of her mysterious backer.
She was able to buy three percent of the Scott Group’s shares with a snap of a finger. Rosalie would’ve definitely not been able to afford such a large sum of money.
However, not only was her backer able to do it easily, he even took the opportunity to work with Jeremy and the others to push Credence to the edge. It was evident that whoever the mastermind was, he was wealthy, smart, and cunning…
However, did these people really think that they would be able to end him just because they worked together?
If it weren’t for the fact that any rash actions he took could lead to Dorothy’s irreversible harm, he would not hesitate to leave a Scott Group that was heavily in debt and only a shell of its former glory, to all of them.
When it came to business, he had always been the one who schemed against others. Since when had he allowed other people to scheme against him?!
Credence glared at Jeremy coldly. Just as he was about to give Jeremy a warning about the consequences of being arrogant, his phone rang.
Credence took out his phone and took a glance. It was from Marvin. He sneered as he walked out of the meeting room.
When Benjamin snapped back to his senses, he quickly followed after Credence.
On the phone, Marvin spoke anxiously and quickly, “Credence, I found the woman. My men have already subdued her. In order to live, she said that she saw Dorothy somewhere today. Hurry up, come over immediately.”
“Alright, I’ll be there right away.”
Credence hung up the phone and told Benjamin to steady Rosalie and Jeremy with any means necessary. After that, he rushed into the president’s elevator.
…
Dorothy went to the supermarket early in the morning and bought some milk and fruits for Belle. They were good for building her immune system.
After checking out, she walked out with two bags full of groceries and returned to the hospital.
After taking a few steps, she heard Juelz’s voice from behind. “Dory, wait a minute, come here. There’s something I want to tell you.”
That voice was all too gentle as if a stream of water was flowing through her heart. It was so gentle that Dorothy could not find the reason to refuse.
She turned around subconsciously and saw Juelz standing in a remote corner. He smiled as he waved at her. “Dory, I came to see you early in the morning and I haven’t had breakfast yet. Are you free now? Could you accompany me for breakfast?”
For some reason, Dorothy heard a slight grievance and loss from his tone. She knew that she had indeed been estranged from him lately and felt somewhat guilty. She hurriedly ran over to him as she did not find it weird for him to call her from such a remote corner.
“Juelz, there is a delicious breakfast shop nearby. Let’s go and try it together.”
“Dory, no, let’s not eat here. I’ll take you to a new restaurant that has just opened.”
Juelz’s eyes flashed. He habitually took the bags from Dorothy’s hand, and he put his other hand on her shoulder. He exerted a little strength so that she would not try to break free from him.
Dorothy was still shocked at Juelz’s unexpected appearance, so she did not notice his strange actions. She looked up in embarrassment and smiled as she said, “Juelz, I’m sorry. Belle is alone in the ward. I am worried about her. How about this, I will accompany you for breakfast, but I need to go back after that.”
Hearing this, Juelz’s right arm, which was on her shoulder, paused slightly, and his breathing got heavy. After a long time, he smiled and nodded to her. “Okay.”
Even though his appearance was surprising, and strange that he would be standing in such a remote area, it was even weirder when they had to circle the area to get to his car. However, Dorothy did not doubt Juelz’s words.
To her, he had always been a man of his words. Apart from Credence, he was the only other man that she was willing to rely on.
He was like a ray of sunshine in the sky. He made her feel warm and at ease, but she had never loved him romantically.
Dorothy hoped that she could maintain this kind of relationship with Juelz, a sibling love despite them not being biologically related.
She yearned for sibling love apart from romantic love.
The restaurant Juelz had picked was not too far from the hospital. It was about half an hour’s drive away, so Dorothy felt quite relieved.
She thought that it wold only take two hours tops to reach that place, eat with Juelz, and come back. She would have enough time to have lunch with Belle.
Upon entering the private room, Dorothy sat down. Juelz followed behind, and he sat down next to her. The two of them were about ten centimeters away from each other.
After they sat down, Juelz’s breathing got heavy, he smoked, and Dorothy felt somewhat uneasy.
She quietly moved her body to the side and was about to say something to break the tense atmosphere. Before she could say anything, her dark pupils suddenly shrank, and she was too shocked to say a word.
She asked, “Juelz, you… What are you doing?”
