Chapter 275 The Enemy In The Dark Is The Worst

Book:My Husband Hates Me Published:2024-5-1

“That’s right, it’s me!”
Rosalie raised her head and cast a cold glare at the man as she smiled, “Oh Credence, you don’t seem surprised to see me at all.”
Jeremy did not speak; he only let out a low laugh that sounded cold and ruthless.
Credence watched as Jeremy and Rosalie walked out of the elevator one after the other. His originally calm eyes immediately went cold at the sight. He took another cigarette to his mouth and took a puff. With an impassive expression on his face, he asked, “When did you two start hooking up?”
Rosalie became infatuated by the way he was smoking.
She had given him her whole heart back then. Despite having used every trick in the book to destroy Dorothy, she had never hurt him even a bit.
However, her benevolence towards him became her downfall in the end.
The amount of love she had for Credence back then had turned into immense hatred.
Sooner or later, she would pay back the suffering and despair he inflicted on her tenfold.
Rosalie looked at Credence’s noble and compelling face and said with a bright smile, “Who, me and Mr. Sherman? We just happened to meet downstairs. There’s nothing between us.”
After that, she waltzed into the conference room.
Jeremy remained motionless and looked at Credence. He smiled coldly and said, “Mr. Scott, we meet again. How fascinating it is that I’m meeting you as a shareholder this time! Huh, one of us will have to die in this game. Are you ready, Mr. Scott?”
“If I said I wasn’t, would you be willing to spit out what’s in your hands?”
Credence lazily took a deep drag of his cigarette before meeting Jeremy’s fierce gaze with his own. He narrowed his eyes and said, “Mr. Sherman, the market is ever-changing. I’m sure you understand that, right?
I suggest you don’t kick me when I’m down if there is no dire hatred between us. But I won’t mind if you want to bite into me like a wild dog.
“After all, having you as an opponent made no difference to me.”
“What high-sounding sentiments, Mr. Scott!”
Jeremy’s face darkened slightly, and his cruel eyes turned sharper. However, he reverted to his usual glum expression the next second, “Do you think you can escape unscathed this time now that the scandal of the Scott Group being involved in the death of several people has gone viral?”
Credence immediately knew this man, the same man who had taken over the entire Sherman family’s business in the span of a few years, had dire hatred towards him and wanted him dead.
However, he hadn’t obtained any more information from Victor since his last meeting with him, so he hadn’t a clue as to Jeremy’s hatred for him or his relationship with Rosalie in this plight.
Partners?
That did not seem to be the case.
In short, it wasn’t a coincidence for them to appear as the company’s new shareholders at the same time. Their goals were definitely more than just being simple small shareholders.
It seemed like Credence could only take one step at a time as their plan unfolded.
Credence walked up to the man and suddenly asked, “Do you know who the third new shareholder is?”
Jeremy turned his head to look at the seemingly nonchalant man in front of him. There was a hint of coldness in his voice as he replied, “You want to know? Then kneel before me and beg. I’ll tell you if the mood suits me.”
“Do not try to antagonise me!”
Credence’s originally cold temperament grew even colder. He turned around and stared at Jeremy’s taunting expression before speaking in a tone that could freeze hell over, “If you don’t succeed in ending me this time, you’d be next!”
“Let’s wait and see, shall we?” Jeremy stood looking at him as he laughed lowly. He continued, “Credence, soon, in about half an hour, no, maybe twenty minutes. You’ll understand why I have the confidence to be here.”

After walking into the conference room, Credence immediately sat in the main seat. Outwardly, he seemed nonchalant. However, in truth, he had been unsettled by Jeremy’s last words outside.
His eyelids twitched wildly as if something bad was about to happen.
When Benjamin came over and handed him a stack of documents, he lowered his voice and ordered, “Use every means we have to find out who the third person is.”
The enemies out in the open were not intimidating. However, the ones hiding in the dark were the truly lethal ones.
Benjamin was stunned for a second, but he came back to his senses soon enough. He gave Credence a barely noticeable nod, turned around, and walked out of the conference room calmly.
He walked to the smoking area at the end of the corridor. After making sure no one was around, he took out his phone and called Marvin. With a worried tone, he informed, “Mr. Jules, it’s me, Benjamin. Mr. Scott wants me to ask you about the results of your investigations. If you can’t find any discernible clues for the time being, please come back to the office immediately.”
“That’s right, the shareholders meeting is being held as usual, and two new shareholders came. The third one did not show up, their identity is still shrouded in mystery at the moment.”
“That’s right, Mr. Scott hopes that you can come back as soon as possible to identify the third shareholder.”
After receiving Marvin’s affirmative responses, Benjamin did not dare delay for half a second. He immediately called Jonathan, “Mr. Stanton, it’s me! The current situation is getting trickier by the minute. It is still unclear who the mastermind is or even how many enemies are hidden behind closed doors. Mr. Scott has not fully figured it out yet. Therefore, he hopes that you can spare some of your time and energy to protect Mrs. Scott and Miss Belle in his stead.”
“Alright, I’ll get to it right away,”
Jonathan could not be of much help on the front line, but he could at least get people to keep a closer eye on Dorothy and Belle.
He got a group of well-trained veterans from Marvin and instructed them to disguise themselves as bodyguards. Then, he hurriedly slipped into the parking lot through a special passageway, led four common black cars, and rushed to the secret hospital that Credence specially arranged for Dorothy and Belle to stay in.
Jonathan parked his car about twenty meters away from the hospital and jumped out quickly. The veterans who were disguised as bodyguards were asked to go into the normal-looking residential area a small group at a time so as to not attract attention.
After that, the group of over a dozen people broke up and sneaked inside stealthily. They followed Jonathan from behind and rushed towards Belle’s ICU.
In Belle’s ICU, apart from a hospital bed with instruments that were neatly arranged around it, there was also an integrated kitchen, bathroom, living room, and all kinds of electrical appliances. The interior design of the room was rather charming; it looked just like any warm, ordinary home.
Jonathan ran as fast as he could as soon as he got out of the elevator.
On his way, he noticed that many nurses and doctors were anxiously pacing about. They seemed to had come from the direction of Belle’s ward. So, he quickly pulled a nurse who was walking past him and asked anxiously, “Hey beauty, why are all of you in such a panic?”
“It seems that a woman has gone missing.”
A woman went missing?
Jonathan’s expression immediately darkened, and his grip on the nurse tightened. The nurse hissed out in pain and rolled her eyes at him angrily, “What is wrong with you? Why are you venting out your anger on me? I’m not the one who kidnapped that woman, you weirdo.”
“Sorry.”
Jonathan quickly let go of the nurse’s hand and rushed into the ward. When he got to the door, he could hear subtle panicked noises coming from inside. After taking a second to calm himself down, he pushed the heavy door open!
