Chapter 274 Trouble After Trouble

“Mr. Scott, this is bad. More than twenty lives are lost now. What should we do?”
When Benjamin called, Credence was watching the scene unfold through the live surveillance footage on his computer. His breathing turned cold and so did his expression.
He had clearly seen through the sabotage early on, let alone Benjamin.
However, he did not expect that the person behind this would be so insidious. The attacks did not show any signs of subsiding and they weren’t even given any time to rest, let alone clean up the mess.
To use such malicious tactics, it was clear that they wanted Credence dead!
Credence pinched the middle of his brows hard and ordered Benjamin, “Call the police and get security to leave their weapons on the ground. Make it look like they’ve been wounded as well, but not fatally. The more scars they have, the better.”
Sadfishing? Two could play the game.
As for those women and elderly who had died in the fight, Credence would definitely find the mastermind and seek justice for them.
“Alright, Mr. Scott, I’ll get to it right away.”
Credence replied with a hum and made another order, “Scott Group’s share price will definitely plummet when the stock market opens later at nine. Keep an eye on the organizations and people who will buy in bulk. We’ll definitely be able to fish out some clues.”
“Yes, Mr. Scott!”
Benjamin immediately understood his orders and proceeded to call the police right after.
After all, so many people had already died. The Scott Group would definitely be put in the dangerous limelight once word gets out, and it was clear that they would not be out of the woods for quite a while.
If the evil hidden hand didn’t plan on making a profit out of this, why would they cause such chaos?
Under Yadriel’s instructions, the riot police had rushed to the scene and immediately managed to control the situation. They also began to help send many of the injured to the hospital alongside the ambulance.
As for the dead, they were all sent to the autopsy room at the police station for further inspection.
All the reporters at the scene accepted. the gifts and shopping vouchers worth up to 50, 000 dollars from Benjamin and agreed to alleviate the report of the riot.
After all, the police were able to come and go at Credence’s command. It showed that the man had really strong connections with the authorities.
If any one of them had the balls to compete with such a privileged big shot, they would simply be courting death.
The person who had secretly reported the news had only given the reporters a little bit of money. It wasn’t enough to even buy themselves one good meal.
In comparison, the Scott Group was generous enough to give every single reporter 50, 000 dollars.
In the end, even though such news would likely cause a national sensation, ordinary reporters like them did not care for such a thing. They preferred money over anything else.
There was no need to talk about feelings to such lowly reporters. Money was their main priority so they essentially did not have the conscience to feel guilty about accepting such bribes.
If people did not have enough money to support their family, if they could not even eat a proper meal, they might even turn more selfish and greedier than these lowly reporters.

Nine in the morning.
As Credence expected, as soon as the stock market opened, Scott Group’s stock plummeted from 70 dollars to 64 dollars.
Most shareholders have either given up their stocks partially or entirely. Some even took the opportunity to buy more shares, which was a normal phenomenon.
But soon after, Benjamin noticed something off.
Three financial agencies cashed in at the lowest point with billions of dollars each and owned three to four percent of the Scott Group’s shares.
That was to say, apart from Credence and other shareholders, there were three new small shareholders in the Scott Group.
Benjamin immediately reported this unusual phenomenon to Credence.
At that time, Credence had stayed up all night so his eyes were bloodshot red. The fierce glare he was sporting looked as if it could shoot fire through the thick floor-to-ceiling windows. It was incredibly unsettling.
He smiled coldly and sneered, “Do they think I’ll just take all of this lying down? I won’t be ruined so easily.”
At that moment, Benjamin’s breathing got lighter as he spoke, “Mr. Scott, it seems that someone had planned this for a long time. Since we will be holding a shareholders meeting, I have a hunch that the three small shareholders will definitely attend.”
“What are you afraid of? We can easily deal with them.”
Credence narrowed his eyes and continued, “Think about it this way, it’ll be a good thing for all of them to show up. At least we’ll know what the other party is looking for. It’ll be easier for us to see through their plans.”
They caused such a huge commotion and over twenty innocent people have died too. It was clear whoever planned this wanted Credence and the Scott Group to fall and never rebound.
This mastermind in the shadows was cunning and ruthless!
Since three organizations surfaced, that meant that Credence did not just have one party to worry about, but three.
He would know soon enough whether this was a cooperated attack or if it was single-handedly orchestrated by one party.
At ten o’clock, with the help of the police, the entrance of the building had restored its former tranquility. The blood on the ground had also been washed clean. The sun shone brightly as if nothing awry had happened.
The second-quarter shareholder meeting was held as usual.
When Credence entered the conference room, the old shareholders were already seated, while there were still three vacant seats left, which had been specially prepared for the three new shareholders.
Credence would not speak up before everyone was present. He merely sat in the chair and indicated to Benjamin to briefly explain to the others what had happened.
Benjamin spoke with fervor and assurance while Credence sat lazily in his seat. Suddenly, the phone in his hand vibrated. He took a glance and saw that it was from Dorothy.
The man hurriedly stood up and strode out of the conference room.
“Hey, it’s me!”
When the man’s husky and familiar voice came through the phone, Dorothy heaved a sigh of relief. She had been trying to get to him for nearly three hours but the man’s phone was constantly busy. He finally answered her call this time.
Dorothy frowned at the thought of the news on the Internet that talked about how the Scott Group was exercising its power over its employees unfairly. “Credence, is everything alright?” She asked.
She didn’t have much connection in Talco City so she could barely help him. Besides worrying about his plight, she could not do anything.
“Dorothy, don’t worry about me. As long as you and Belle are alright, I will be fine too!”
“Okay.”
To make the man feel a little better, Dorothy began to tell him some interesting stories about Belle’s childhood. However, she did not hear any response from him.
Soon enough, she heard a flurry of noise come from the other side of the phone as if something major had occurred over at Credence’s side.
After that, Dorothy heard the man’s cold remark, “Huh, so you three are the new shareholders!”
It sounded like Credence knew who they were.
Dorothy was very surprised. Just as she was about to ask, the call disconnected. Credence had hung up.
She rubbed her temples and forced herself to stow away her curiosity. She decided to take good care of Belle and not bother Credence anymore for the time being.

In the corridor of the conference room, Credence put one hand in his pocket as his cold eyes swept across the group of people who had just walked out of the elevator!
His expression was calm looking at the all too familiar faces, but his eyes told a different story altogether. It looked as if a storm was brewing beneath his calm gaze.
