The noble and proud man’s chiseled facial features were like that of an ice sculpture. A frighteningly cold aura emanated from him.
Victor suddenly felt a little cold and shrank a little.
When he opened his leather bag and touched the file that contained Dorothy’s information, which pointed to her as the mysterious woman who had appeared in Talco Hotel that night, he remembered Jonathan’s threats. After hesitating for a few seconds, he put the materials back into the briefcase.
Victor took out a large stack of documents and photos from the other side of the briefcase, spread all the evidence on the desk in front of Credence, and said seriously, “Mr. Scott, this is all the strong evidence I’ve found in half a month. All the clues point to the president of J&D Group, Juelz. I’m certain that he is the one who paid a large number of mercenaries to attack you during the equestrian competition.”
“What’s his reason for attacking me?”
Credence’s face was calm and unruffled as he fixed his eyes on the stack of papers.
“There are only two reasons for men to fight. One is for wealth, the other for women.”
Victor carefully observed the handsome man who was sitting behind the desk. He thought for a moment and asked, “Mr. Scott, did you snatch a large business deal away from Juelz some time ago? Or did you take away his woman?”
Credence sneered coldly, “That’s impossible.”
He narrowed his elongated eyes and said with a voice that was more frigid than ice, “I haven’t robbed him of any business deals, nor have I taken away his woman. Your guess is highly unlikely.”
“I, for one, have a feeling that he was trying to take something from me, because when I got sent to the hospital, the doctor found a small needle prick on my left arm.”
The wound could have only come from an injection.
Since he was sure that Juelz was the one who had done this to him, then he could’ve injected a drug into him, or extracted some of his blood…
However, he had undergone a full-body examination when he was hospitalized. There were no abnormalities in his body, nor were there any side effects from any drugs.
Then, there was only one possibility left.
However, what exactly was Juelz’s goal?
Credence closed his eyes and then fiercely opened them again. His face was wintrier than an ice sculpture. All he felt was a dense layer of fog in front of him, layer upon layer, making it difficult for him to realize the truth.
Victor, on the other hand, was so shocked by his words that his heart started to beat uncontrollably.
He licked his lips and said with difficulty, “Mr. Scott, I don’t understand. Why would Juelz want your blood?”
“Do you think I would still pay you to investigate if I knew the reason?”
Credence picked up the cup by his hand and drank the bitter coffee. His facial features tightened as his frown deepened, “Three days. You have exactly three days to find out his motives.”
“I understand, Mr. Scott.”
Victor composed himself, packed up the documents on the desk, and put them into his briefcase.
As he was getting ready to leave, he saw the man lower his eyes and ask coldly, “What about the investigation on the hotel incident?”
Victor swore to the heavens that this was the coldest tone he had ever heard from Credence. It was filled with hatred, so bitingly cold that it could freeze anyone who got close to him.
He believed that if the woman really turned out to be Dorothy, and if she was standing in front of Credence at the moment, this man, who would seek revenge for even the smallest grievances, would definitely tear Dorothy into pieces.
After a few seconds of silence, Victor could not help but feel fearful for Dorothy. His heart started to thump and he could hear his own low and deep voice trembling as he replied, “No, I’ve found nothing for the time being. I’m sorry, Mr. Scott. There are too few clues.”
Without getting the answer that he wanted the most, Credence’s handsome face turned stony. He lost control of his emotions and yelled two words from his thin lips, “Get out!”
“Yes, yes, yes, Mr. Scott! I’ll leave right away!”
Faced with Credence’s domineering aura, Victor did not dare to stay any longer. He turned around and fled without turning back.
He walked out of the office, drenched in cold sweat. He was shocked to find out that he had sweated so much till his entire shirt and pants had gotten damp.
“What the f*ck? Why do you look like you’ve seen a ghost?”
Jonathan ran from the left corridor to Victor’s side, circled him twice, and said, “Hey, Forbes, you didn’t tell him about Dorothy, did you?”
Victor found Jonathan to be a little annoying, but he held back his bad temper and stuck out his neck to say, “No, I am a man with principles, and I keep my word.”
Jonathan shrugged with satisfaction and asked about the conversation between Victor and Credence. After getting the inside information he wanted, he generously gave Victor a big smile, “Great, you’re a real one. I’ll treat you to a big meal when I’m free.”
After that, Jonathan turned and left Victor alone. Instead of going into Credence’s office, he went to the smoking-room, took his mobile phone out from his pockets, and called Marvin.
“Hey Marv, it’s me, Jonathan. I’m going to tell you something serious. Remember that equestrian competition? The person who injured Credence was actually Juelz.”
He continued, “Sh*t, I heard he used a syringe to extract a vial of blood from Credence’s arm too. Maybe even two syringes, but let’s not get too into the details. I don’t get it. What would Juelz need Credence’s blood for?”
On the other end of the call, Marvin just returned to his single dormitory from the training base, a cigarette in his hand. He happened to be standing next to a male doctor who had just been assigned to his location. Instead of answering Jonathan’s question, he took his phone away from his ear, turned around, and lowered his voice to consult the doctor.
After receiving a relatively professional reply, Marvin raised his eyebrows and said to Jonathan, “Juelz might have needed it to see if it was compatible with his heart, liver, kidney, spleen, or stomach. There’s probably something wrong with his body.”
“D*mn! If there’s something’s wrong with his organs, why didn’t he just go to an organ bank? What’s the use of finding Credence?”
After hearing Jonathan’s stupid words, Marvin sneered and said, “Juelz probably didn’t do it for his own sake.”
“Then who did he do it for?”
Jonathan was so annoyed that he tousled his hair carelessly. Suddenly, he thought of something and cried out, “Is it for Dorothy? Does Dorothy need Credence’s help because she is terminally ill?”
At that moment, Jonathan had no idea he had gotten close to the truth thanks to his wild imagination.
Marvin kept quiet for a while and replied, “It’s possible. Go and tell Credence about it, and let’s see what he plans to do.”
“Alright, I’ll tell him right away.”
He hung up and rushed to the president’s office.
In the spacious room, Credence smoked as he stood by the French window with an icy look on his face. After listening to Jonathan’s words, he pinched the cigarette on his fingertips little by little. Soon, it got completely crushed, and he threw it into the trash can without a second thought.
The next second, Credence walked to his desk, picked up his phone, and called Benjamin, “Prepare a meeting with the executives immediately. We’re going to crush J&D Group.”
The voice that came from Credence’s thin lips was cold and ruthless!
“Oh my, how cold. Credence is too f*cking scary when he’s furious,” Jonathan thought.
He grew so terrified that his legs were trembling. He could not help but feel sympathetic for Juelz.
“What an idiot, offending Credence for Dorothy’s sake. He deserves to die!” Jonathan thought.
