Everything had happened in an instant.
Juelz threw a long rope towards the rear end of the horse, and one of its hind legs was immediately trussed up.
After it got trapped, he tried his best to pull it backward.
The black horse neighed in pain as it jumped around and tried to get rid of Credence, its rider.
Credence was caught off guard. The moment the horse lost its balance, he reacted quickly and jumped off the horse.
Unexpectedly, when he jumped down, his left foot got kicked by the horse. He did not land on the flat grass but on the slippery sand instead. He stumbled and rolled all the way down the slope.
“Credence, I’ll make sure to draw your blood this time.”
Juelz reared his snow-white horse and trotted over to him with a proud smile on his face. He came down from the horse, holding a large stick in his hands and a syringe with drugs in it. With the faint moonlight in the sky, he followed Credence and chased after him.
In the dark and shadowy night, Juelz caught a glimpse of Credence’s location. He took his phone out and sent an order. Soon, a stream of strong men in black clothes appeared, all of them with murderous intent.
These people were mercenaries that Juelz hired from the black market at a high price. None of them were afraid of death, as they would give their lives up for money.
Juelz knew quite well that he wasn’t very skilled in fighting. However, Credence had already been injured from the fall, and he was no match for all of these people.
Perhaps, Juelz might easily expose his own identity.
However, mercenaries were different.
As long as someone paid them, they would risk their lives for their contractor. Their confidentiality measures were perfect. Under normal circumstances, it was impossible for anyone to find any information about them.
On the other side, Credence’s calf had been fractured. He swept his cold gaze across his surroundings and leaned against a tree trunk. He understood that he had been set up by someone else, and a bone-chilling iciness could be seen in his eyes.
He was about to take his mobile phone out to call Jonathan when he suddenly felt a frigid wind brush past him, and he quickly dodged it. Suddenly, he saw lots of men in black clothing, fanning out around him.
With just one look, Credence knew that this group of people had come to him with bad intentions.
With his decisive nature and experience in business, he had more enemies than friends. Credence was not surprised upon facing this group of killers who were obviously mercenaries. He held his cell phone tightly and said with a sneer, “Who hired you? I will give you ten times the price to kill that man.”
The group of men remained silent as all of them rushed forwards, surrounding Credence and attacking him.
Hence, Credence only had time to knock down the first few men who rushed towards him. Gradually, he grew exhausted. His head and face were covered with blood as he leaned against the tree, gasping heavily.
More than twenty mercenaries in total arrived on scene. Then, they attacked Credence’s vital organs, enough to give him internal injuries but not to kill him.
Ignoring his two broken legs, Credence raised his hand and gracefully wiped off the blood from the corner of his mouth. He laughed in a low voice, “It seems that the mastermind who hired you didn’t spend enough money to take my life.”
He could sense that the other party only wanted to suffer extreme injuries but not die.
Since there was no need to worry about his life, then what else was there to be afraid of?
Credence’s self-control had long been ingrained in his soul. Even in these types of situations, he could still maintain a cold smile on his face.
No one knew that his ribs had already been broken, and they had already pierced into his internal organs. Every breath he took was so painful that he would rather die.
However, he still acted as if nothing had happened, as his tolerance for pain was insanely high.
Meanwhile, Juelz hid in the shadows as he looked at the scene in silence.
To be frank, if Credence hadn’t treated Dorothy so badly, he really would have come to appreciate this man.
However, Credence was his rival in love and they were meant to be enemies. Truth be told, he wanted nothing more than to kill Credence at that moment so that Dorothy could only be his in the future.
It was just a pity that he just wasn’t ruthless enough, and he could not take Credence’s life while he was at a disadvantage.
Plus, the most pressing reason was that he was reluctant to see Dorothy in tears.
If Credence died in this way, then Dorothy would never be happy for the rest of her life.
Alas, Juelz loved her too much, and there was nothing he could do about that.
Hence, he could only follow her wishes and not kill Credence.
However, a harsh beating was inevitable.
How was it possible that Credence would get off scot-free after hurting Dorothy multiple times?
He stared at Credence’s back, and a cold storm brewed in his eyes.
If the heavens won’t bring Dorothy justice, then he would!
On the other side, Credence tried hard to laugh, but he could not.
He coughed so violently that the blood came out of his mouth. Just as he dialed Jonathan’s number, he felt a sharp needle enter the right side of his neck, and he felt a tingling pain that spread to every corner of his body.
Then, Credence’s muscles twitched uncontrollably, and he soon grew short of breath. After a while, he passed out.
When Juelz saw him on the ground, he strode over and proudly snapped his fingers, “Hey, Credence, this is your lucky day. Had Dorothy not asked for me to spare your life, I would have taken it from you already.”
After Juelz stood there firmly and made a gesture, all twenty men left, leaving behind a round-faced man with a medical license to help.
“Hurry up. Draw his blood.”
After Juelz finished speaking, he turned on a flashlight. The round-faced man squatted down before taking out the necessary syringes and other tools. He then searched for an artery in Credence’s arm. Drawing out a vial of blood, he put it into the small cooler box that he had prepared. After that, he handed it to Juelz and said in a hoarse voice, “Send it to the hospital as soon as possible.”
“Okay, I understand! Go back and tell your boss that I will give him the remaining forty percent of the money within two hours.”
After the man left, Juelz picked up the small cooler box and looked at Credence, who was lying in a pool of blood, with a sneer. Then, he immediately took his mobile phone out and called Dorothy.
Next, he grinned happily, and his eyes were filled with tenderness, “Dory, I’ve done it. Drive to the street we agreed on, and I’ll be heading there right away.”
When Dorothy heard the news, she felt so happy that her heart was about to leap out of her chest. She said excitedly, “Okay, I’ll be there immediately. Wait for me.”
Then, she turned around and quickly ran out of the spectator’s area. She rushed to the parking lot and found Juelz’s car. Then, she got into it, started the engine, and quickly left the venue.
Meanwhile, Jonathan was having fun with two beautiful women in his arms as he caught sight of Dorothy leaving in a hurry. He felt a little surprised, but he quickly forgot about it.
He glanced at his wristwatch and saw that it had been less than five minutes before the game ended. He struggled in bidding goodbye to the two beauties before taking out his mobile phone and preparing to call Credence.
Not long after, the results of the competition were announced.
The first place was not Credence, but a rich heir. Juelz had fallen to the twentieth place, while Credence disappeared midway for some unknown reason.
“D*mn it, why has Credence suddenly disappeared? Something terrible must have happened.”
Jonathan’s expression changed dramatically. He immediately noticed that something was amiss and called the police.
