Chapter 92 Body In Hell, But Heart In Heaven

Book:My Husband Hates Me Published:2024-5-1

Inside the interrogation room.
The incandescent light above Dorothy made her hair stand on end. Her hands were still in handcuffs as she sat on a black chair that was as tall as a grown man. Sitting across her was a female police officer that was in charge of the case, Ivana Godfrey.
She had initially been responsible for a robbery case. However, she suddenly received a call from another colleague who requested her to be in charge of Dorothy’s case instead.
“Dorothy Fisher, what else do you want to say for yourself?”
Ivana knew why her superiors suddenly brought her over. The husband of the beautiful woman in front of her must have made great efforts.
Credence Scott was a well-known name throughout Talco City.
After all, if she was not the one assigned to her, the other ruthless police officer, Kyle Fisher would have been responsible for it anyway.
Apparently, Kyle and Caleb were close to each other.
If Kyle was in charge of Dorothy’s case, she would likely suffer a lot of physical pain during the interrogation. Those were the unspoken rules that everyone knew.
Dorothy did not know how much Credence had done for her. She sat on the chair quietly, and even her breathing became slower and more shallow.
The time had already passed for an hour and a half. Other than repeating that she was the victim, she had not said anything else.
“Officer Godfrey, this was all part of Rosalie’s plans. You have to believe me. I am the real victim!”
Dorothy’s eyes were glued to the big screen which was replaying the scene where she had pushed Rosalie out of the window on the third floor. No matter what Ivana said, she would only repeat the same statement.
“Dorothy, why don’t you just tell me the whole story. Whether you are guilty or not and no matter what crimes you are going to be charged with, it will not be decided by me or you, but the judge.”
“Look at the big screen. All evidence points to you. There were even many witnesses at the scene. These pieces of evidence are enough for you to stay in prison for at least twenty years.”
“Listen to me, if you don’t cooperate with me now, no one else can help you.”
Ivana sighed. It was everything she could do, but Dorothy was still not budging.
Who else could help her at her most desperate moment?
Was it going to be Credence or Rosalie?
Dorothy smiled gently and closed her eyes, “Yes, the evidence is so conclusive. It is useless for me to say anything else.”
How could she say that she had lost control of herself after inhaling a sweet scent? That she could not control her actions and have turned into a raging murderer?
That was a truly absurd reason.
No one would ever believe her!
After Ivana spoke earnestly for a long time, the interrogation kept going back to square one. She took a deep breath and felt that it was useless to continue asking any more questions.
She pointed at the two young policemen standing behind Dorothy, then frowned and said, “You, take her downstairs and find her a single jail cell.”
“Yes, Ma’am.”
Immediately, the two policemen took Dorothy away and walked out of the interrogation room.
Dorothy walked in front of them, standing tall and straight.
She bit her lips while her face was pale and calm. She was so thin and slim that she might be blown away with just a gentle breeze.
After the interrogation, Dorothy was not sent to the women’s prison in Talco City. Instead, she was sent to a separate detention room with a bed, tables and stools, and even her own little bathroom.
She did not know what kind of environment other prisoners were staying in, but she was satisfied with the room that she had.
During Ivana’s routine inspection, Dorothy was having her lunch. There was bread and soup. She ate with satisfaction while looking calm.
How could such a magnanimous woman like her be a murderer?
Ivana looked at her as she elegantly ate the bread and soup. She looked like she was having the most delicious delicacies. She admired Dorothy inwardly and asked softly, “Aren’t you afraid of dying?”
“Of course I am. How could I not be?”
Dorothy raised her head and looked at the young policewoman in her uniform outside the iron window. She smiled and said, “Since I’m already here, what’s the use of being afraid of death?”
Ivana suddenly felt that Dorothy’s words made so much sense that she could not refute her at all.
After thinking for a while, she took her cell phone out from her pocket and handed it to her between the two iron bars, “Do you want to call Mr. Scott? He misses you a lot!”
After Dorothy had the last sip of her soup, she unintentionally touched her flat stomach. She turned to look at Ivana while hesitating for a long while. Then, she slowly shook her head.
“Thank you. There’s no need for that.”
Her relationship with Credence was over!
“Alright then, have a good rest.”
As Dorothy’s back was facing Ivana, she did not notice her stroking her stomach. She whispered a few words before turning and leaving.
Dorothy stood up and walked into the bathroom. After washing up, she came out and sat in the innermost part of the bed. She leaned quietly against the snow-white wall. Her calm face was neither sad nor happy. There was no fear on her face.
As long as her baby was with her, she would still feel as though her heart was in heaven, even though she was physically in hell!

Ivana walked out of the detention room, then she looked for a remote corner and called Credence.
“Mr. Scott, it’s me! Mrs. Scott is elegant and calm. My intuition tells me that it is very likely that she did not intend to kill Rosalie, but that video remains as the most straightforward evidence. If we can’t find evidence of someone framing Mrs. Scott, I’m afraid that she will be charged for murder.”
At the door of the emergency room, Credence coldly glanced at the sanitized clothes and mask handed over by the female doctor. He did not reach out to take them. Instead, he coldly stepped forwards and was about to walk into the emergency room when his cell phone rang.
After listening to Ivana’s theories over the call, Credence’s eyebrows seemed to relax, “Okay, I understand. I will find the evidence soon enough.”
Before Ivana could speak again, he scrolled the screen and hung up quickly  .
He was now certain that the key evidence was in Rosalie’s hands.
Linda stood at one side and watched Credence’s complex facial expressions. She was so scared that she dared not go up to him. However, when she saw that he was about to enter without wearing the sanitized gown and mask, she stepped forward in a hurry and reached out to stop him, “Credence, Rosie has just gone through a surgery. Her body is still very weak. It’s inappropriate for you to walk inside like this. What if she gets infected…”
If she had to act, she had to go all out.
Even if Rosalie’s operation was fake, she still had to mention the small details clearly.
On a lot of occasions, those small details determined whether the plan would succeed.
Credence lightly twitched his lips, his face filled with cold mockery, “Are you sure your daughter is really going to die soon?”
“Credence, wh-what do you mean? Rosie was pushed from the third floor by Dorothy. Her body was covered in blood and two of her ribs were almost broken too. Don’t you know that?”
Linda was so frightened that her face had turned pale.
However, the only reply Linda got was the deafening sound of the door closing.
Linda stared at the tightly closed door while the female doctor and her looked at each other in fear. The feeling of panic in them got more intense.
Had she revealed something?
No, that was impossible!
Credence was too scary. She only hoped that Rosie would be able to withstand him!
