Chapter 93 Don’t Try Any Useless Tricks

The lights were bright in the operating room.
Credence had only taken two steps when the door of the operating room was opened from inside.
“Mr. Scott…” The female lead surgeon came out and looked at his scary face and eyes. She was incredibly flustered, “Miss Rosalie is still undergoing surgery. If you want to visit her, you have to wear the sterilized clothes first…”
Before she could say further, the thick and heavy door was kicked open by his long legs!
Looking at Credence who was barging in like the devil, the rest of the doctors shivered. However, they had taken a bribe, so they had to help Rosalie to continue with the act. They looked at each other for a few seconds before mustering up the courage to speak, “Mr. Scott, sorry. Any interference in the operation is likely to cause great harm to Miss Rosalie. Could you please step out first…?”
Credence spat out coldly, “Get lost!”
He did not even look at the doctor’s faces clearly. He strode over to Rosalie, who was lying on the operating table. He suddenly grabbed her white and tender neck with one hand and gave it a hard grip.
Rosalie felt that it was getting harder for her to breathe. She could no longer pretend to stay drugged and unconscious. She was forced to open her eyes. Before she could even greet him, she started to cough violently and painfully.
“Is this what you call dying?”
Credence swept a cold glance over Rosalie’s flat belly. Her crooked scar was stained with quite a bit of blood, but it still looked fake.
He raised his other hand and reached for a tissue placed on the cart next to him. He fiercely wiped the fake scar, and her smooth and white skin was instantly exposed. There were no scars on the surface of her skin, and there weren’t even scars from her last kidney transplant surgery. He immediately understood that the so-called kidney rupture was nothing more than a lie.
In an instant, the hatred within him suddenly exploded.
He gripped Rosalie’s neck harder, and the smile on his thin lips was extremely cold, “If you don’t want to die, then tell me where you got the Mosemary drug from?”
She coughed, “Credence, can you let go of me first…”
Rosalie was on the verge of being choked to death by the familiar yet terrifying man. She blinked her eyes pitifully, and tears of pain streamed down her face.
As she cried, she remembered something. During her 18th birthday party, she had been thrown into the limelight as he did not deny her being his girlfriend.
On her 19th birthday, he had a car accident.
She had been attending an important interview at a film and television school one afternoon. She had only heard of that news when it was her turn. She had ignored Linda and her counsellor’s warnings and their holding back. She had rushed out of the school to personally accompany him and take care of him.
In the emergency room, he had been losing a lot of blood. She held him so tightly that her white dress was stained with his blood.
After he had awakened, she sat on his bed and cried hysterically, wishing that she could suffer the pain for him while he was having a transfusion. At that time, he had used his uninjured arm to pull her over while he carefully cleaned her dirty face. He had smiled faintly and told her that he would wait for her to graduate before he would marry her.
He had never had any intimate relationships with any other women before. He had always stayed away from other women respectfully.
Although she was his girlfriend, the most intimacy they had was merely hugging and holding each other’s hands.
What a fool she had been back then, for she had thought that those hugs and hand-holdings were proof of his most precious care for her.
After that, he married Dorothy. However, he was only interested in Dorothy’s body. She realized that when a man did not love a woman, he would not have any evil thoughts about that woman.
Credence did not love her but he neither hated her.
Therefore, when the elders of the Scott family planned to have Dorothy sleep with him, he had only been interested in her body. Credence and Rosalie’s promised marriage ended just like that.
His marriage with Dorothy had gone even more smoothly.
However, who could understand the pain of her heart being torn apart and bleeding profusely?
When she was 19, he only had her in his eyes. The night he married her sister was the night her heart had bled painfully, as if the whole world had cruelly abandoned her.
Rosalie remembered everything in the hospital, she remembered how he said he was going to marry her and that light tone he had promised her in.
When Credence loosened his grip on her neck, Rosalie slowly got up from the surgical table. She looked at the handsome, charming, yet fierce man in front of her, “Credence, I love you! I love you so much! That’s right, my kidney didn’t rupture, and I didn’t get hurt when I fell down from the third floor, but that was probably because I had been lucky.”
“I didn’t want to lie to you. However, ever since you married my sister, we’ve spent less time together. I was afraid that you had fallen in love with my sister and would ignore me. I was afraid that you didn’t love me anymore!”
“I don’t need a title and I don’t want to take away anything from Dorothy too. I just want to be your woman. I want to be by your side forever. I am willing to be a mistress all my life!”
She blinked her eyes to force her tears away. She got off from the operating table weakly and delicately. She used her soft, skinny hands to hold Credence’s arms, just like how the two of them had done so when they had been alone in the past.
When Credence felt her hand, he immediately pushed her hand away in disgust. His look was horrifying, “Is that really what you think?”
Her expression froze.
How could it be possible that she would be willing to be a mistress for the rest of her life?
At that moment, the man in front of her was so enigmatic that she could not tell whether he was happy or angry. She dared not deny her words. She looked into his deep and cold eyes with a smile, “Yes, that’s what I think. I’m willing to do anything for you, even if I have to give up my life.”
“I love you. I really want to be the woman that you love!”
Looking at the charming man who had snatched her heart away, Rosalie stood on her toes and tried to kiss his thin lips with her soft ones.
“Ah…”
Rosalie let out a shrill as she was slammed onto the solid wall with a bang. When she landed on the ground, her calves hit the operating table, and she almost burst into tears from the pain.
“Credence…”
Rosalie looked up in shock, feeling aggrieved.
He calmly walked over and looked at the poor and pathetic Rosalie on the ground. There was only coldness and ruthlessness in his eyes as he asked, “Where did you get the Mosemary drug?”
“What’s Mosemary? Credence, I don’t know! I really don’t know!”
When Credence had asked her that question earlier, Rosalie had thought about acting dumb to muddle her way through it. However, when he asked her again, she knew that he must have found out about something. Her face turned pale and she felt a wave of uneasiness.
Compared to that devil-like man, Credence was still considered kind. No matter what, she could not reveal that person’s identity. Otherwise, the only thing impending her was a punishment worse than death.
“You’d better pray that I don’t find any evidence!”
Credence narrowed his long eyes, and every word from him was as cold as ice, “Don’t try any useless tricks. You can never measure up to Dorothy.”
Dorothy’s curvy body was already enough to arouse him. It was something that Rosalie’s flat body could not do to him.
As soon as he finished speaking, Credence left without looking back. He slammed the door shut as he walked out.
Rosalie clenched her fists in anger. The heater had been turned on and the temperature of the room was as warm as spring. However, she was shivering, as if she had fallen into an ice cave.
She had done so much for him, but he still loved Dorothy. He had really fallen in love with Dorothy!
How had things turned out this way?
How?

After walking out of the hospital and getting into the car, Credence leaned against the seat and lit a cigarette restlessly. His gaze was muddled with something else.
He had been in the business world for so many years and had never been defeated. Yet he almost got toyed by a young woman…
Benjamin felt a chill emanating from his employer and did not dare to disturb his contemplating. However, after waiting for a long time, he still did not get any instructions from Credence. He mustered up his courage and asked softly, “Mr. Scott, do you want to go to the police station to visit Mrs. Scott first?”
To visit Dorothy?
Credence thought of Ivana’s call, where she had told him about their conversation and how disheartened she had been and how she did not want to call him. His eyes stung after staring at the shining sunlight coming through the window.
He silently took a few puffs from his cigarette while his head was lowered. The bitter taste of nicotine started to permeate his throat until he was about to choke.
Seeing that he remained silent, Benjamin did not give up. He continued, “Mr. Scott, this is Madam’s first time being locked up in an interrogation room. She must be panicking and afraid. Perhaps she is blaming you, but you mustn’t avoid her. The more you avoid her, the more you will let her down.”
Credence said, “You don’t understand. The last person she wants to see right now is me!”
The man, who had always been decisive, sighed for the first time in front of his assistant. He pressed the cigarette butt into the porcelain-white ashtray and put it out.
“Let’s go back to the office first. I’ll think of other ways.”
He uttered those words in a deep and helpless voice.
Benjamin nodded and prepared to drive away. Suddenly, a group of men dressed in black came from the front and rushed to the back of the car. Following that, the sound of car windows being smashed rang through the air.
As the glass shattered and fell to the ground, a terrifying scream was heard.
