Mia’s pov
My eyes felt extremely heavy when I tried to blink it open and so I patiently waited until it didn’t feel so heavy and that was when I finally succeeded. The room was dimly lit, it was obvious that it was no longer night time seeing as the sun was penetrating into the room through a very small gap in the curtains.
I let out a long sigh and glanced around the room, everything was in its usual position, but that was until a heap of blankets and clothes caught my attention at the far end of the room and that was when a gasp tore through my throat at the moment because that was when everything began to return to me at a fast speed.
Images of Lorenzo mopping my head with a cloth in order to reduce my fever, images of Lorenzo holding me in a sitting position and forcing me to recite various things in order to prevent me from fainting, images of him helping me to the toilet in order to pee because I was too tired to walk, and so many more.
a loud gasp tore past my throat as I realized that I indeed been fallen sick and that Lorenzo had taken care of me, and nursed me back to good health. During my sleep, I had dreamt of Lorenzo throughout and I thought that was nothing but a dream, but waking up now has proven that those things had indeed happened.
I let out a long sigh and grinned at the roof, as a giddy feeling engulfed me. Never in my wildest dream did I ever imagine that I’d ever be cared for like that by a man.
I was still reveling in that thought when my door got pushed open, causing me to grow tense as my eyes darted towards the doorway where Lorenzo was standing. As he made his way into the room and closed it behind him, I realized that he had a tray in his grip which he was bringing towards me. He set it on the bedside table and that was when the scent of chicken soup hit my nose, causing me to sneeze.
Lorenzo touched my forehead and lingered for a few seconds before he sank into the spot beside me on the bed.
“Your fever has thankfully broken through. Seeing as you’re awake now, it probably won’t be resurfacing this time.” He explained and my eyes widened at the implication that it had once cleared and resurfaced over and over again.
“How are you feeling?”
I averted my gaze and color flooded my cheeks as I carefully cleared my throat before responding.
“Uh, good. Thank you.”
Lorenzo stared at me silently for about a minute and then he reached for the tray and laid it on the bed. I glanced down at it and I felt my stomach growl a little.
“Did you make this?” I found myself asking as I breathed the smell in. Lorenzo leveled me with an unreadable look as he spoke.
“Don’t ask me dumb questions and eat up.”
I let out a sigh and lifted myself into a sitting position and then I reached for the spoon. My hand felt tired and I said the first thing that popped into my head.
“Uh, can you feed me?”
“Are you taking advantage of the fact that I nursed you back to good health?” He asked and my eyes widened as I hastily shook my head.
“You’re no longer fainting every two seconds, surely you can afford to feed yourself.” He continued and I felt my mouth twist as I reached for the soup and began to feed myself. It tasted so good that I found myself wanting more after the first taste.
Even Lorenzo still wasn’t leaving even though I was now eating the soup myself, I pretended he wasn’t here and tried to relax even more. Once I was done with the soup, he gave me some pills which I obediently swallowed.
“If your fever resurfaces again, you’ll be getting a visit from the doctor.” He informed me as he mopped my forehead with a soaked towel. The towel felt soothing against my skin and I instantly felt drowsy.
“Can I ask you a question?” I found myself mumbling after a few minutes, and once I got a nod in response, I continued.
“Why are you taking care of me?”
Lorenzo’s face remained blank and he stared at me for about a minute before he got to his feet and lifted the tray.
“I expected it to be a dumb question and alas it was, so try to get more sleep.”

The sickness lasted for two more days before I finally became as healthy as I once was. I took a long bath after the entire ordeal and threw all the clothes, sheets and blankets into the washing machine once I was done.
I dressed in a simple jumpsuit today and a look at my reflection indicated that I had lost a little weight.
Kat had undoubtedly come to prepare food throughout the time I was sick because the freezer was stocked with food. Lorenzo and I didn’t eat together that morning but I assumed it was because he was still sleeping due to being tired from taking care of me. Embarrassment engulfed me for a few moments at the reminder that the same Lorenzo whom I had thought was gonna kill me about a week and some days ago has still been the same person who had nursed me back to life.
I made sure to thank him when he finally came down, and unsurprisingly, he waved me off and then proceeded to ask me if I wanted to go somewhere with him.
“Oh? Where are we going?” I asked while blinking up at him. He leveled me with a look before shaking his head.
“Never mind then.”
I scrambled after him as he exited the kitchen, and then I gripped his wrist before he could move further.
“Wait! I’ll come with you.”
He eyed me for a moment before responding. “Hurry up then, go put some shoes on.”
I raced to do as told because after spending day in day out in this house, along with the fact that I fell sick, I couldn’t wait to get out of here, which is why I couldn’t let this opportunity be missed.
